Wtf did they do to that car in tokyo drift for it to be running that shitty of a 1/4 mile. I dont care if its set up to drift or not, a stock rx8 can do low/mid to high 14s with the right driver. With all its upgrades shouldnt it be at least beating stock times?
@xex2kok no, the turbo most likely lowered the HP. Rotaries are VERY high compression engines, and most turbo kits will lose HP, as well air intakes etc. They said HKS, so they probably used some standard kit, instead of something built for rotaries.
Uhm I really don't think "most turbos make rotarys lose hp" is correct. A renesis engine should be around 10:1 or 11:1 ratio which is not that crazy of a compression ratio. As far as intakes and exhausts making none to very very minimal gains on the rx8, yes that would be mostly true. A midpipe is an exception to that though.

the turbo they could have used could be for spooling quick or for peak power. depends on the goals of the car. peak power means nothing in drifting so they wont try and make it a rocket in the 1/4. so its already at a disadvantage. then its all kitted and those rims probably way a but load. there are a lot of things to make that car slow out side of how bad it was treated.

0-60 in 6.7 seconds? my only guess is that A: they didn't tune this car well (if at all) and B: the 19 inch wheels are leeching a lot of torque (that's why my aftermarket wheels on my RX8 are still 18's! and my car does 0-60 in 5.9 seconds... stock...

With minor mods my RX-8 get from 0-60 in 5.6 and stock is 5.8, I don't know an 8 with a turbo can be that slow, I think its just wrong numbers.

no way a turbo runs 0-60 in 6.6 seconds , a stock one runs 0-60 in 5.8. clearly alot of ecu programing is needed
