i would have to say the hottest chilli in the world would have to be either the butch t or the viper, i have been told of another super hot chilli but can not for the life of me remember what it was. but back in 2009 the Bhut Jolokia was probs recorded as the hottest.

@helixrose44 I would say that this actually was the pinnacle of said journey...I had been getting intro progressively hotter hot sauces for a few weeks prior to this. So while eating this ghost pepper was certainly not the most enjoyable thing I've done, it was fairly manageable. I've toned down my use of hot sauce--it wrecks a little more havoc on my digestive system then it used to.

@DerekBondo I wouldn't be surprised if you go back for more down the line- your tolerance level just got demolished. ;) I once used a local hotsauce in a diner with various peppers including ghost peppers listed in the ingredients, I explained to the cook "I might as well get my money's worth, instead of dousing the stuff in weak sauce!" I think all people who ride the heat wave are masochists on some level. lol

Try growing some hot chillis for yourself.. Not only are they hard to find but prolly expensive in the supermarket. Many different types of Super hot chillis exist.. Look for bhut jolokia, trinidad scorpion , or naga morich seeds and grow the plants.. They are awesome
