This is just like going down stairs backwards. Whatever works for someone is fine with me. I never tried this with a curb, I find going down forward pretty easy and I don't have that last bit of crashing down on my casters.
Good demonstration. I may have to try it some time just to see what it's like.
Nice video. Thanks for sharing. I'm a C 5-6 quad. Would be great if you could share with us on our social network. google "pushrim" you will see "life after injury". Take care :)
if you have no or very poor balance, you should have anti tip bars on your w/c which makes going down a curb this way even more dangerous.
if you have enough "balance" to be able to roll without anti tip bars you can do a wheelie. if you can do a wheelie, going down frontways is much much safer
I'm a C6 and have and going down curbs this way is a lot safer for me than going down doing a wheelie. I don't have anti tippers on because they get in the way and cause me to not be as Independent. They get caught in everything and I'd be stuck on ever sidewalk with a slight curb because I wouldn't be able to do a wheelie with them or go down backwards. I have never fallen only when someone pushed me over a curb front on without asking if I needed help. Then it was in traffic.

wrong way to go down a curb...teach them how to back wheelbalance
then go down frontways

It's not the "wrong" way, just another option when you have no or very poor balance.
