  • that oboe player is getting INTO it! this is really cool. i love the arrangements

  • No they miss out some of the first movement.

  • Horn player is a bit rough.......but then, aren't they all!

  • Its so cool it must be Japanese!

  • Was following this on the score - but you seem to jump forward about 60 bars at A. Are there different versions?

  • @rjjenkins i think it may be because this is only 1 and 3. they aren't playing 2 from three shanties.

  • duddddddddde this is sweeeeeeeeeeet!

  • Love the section starting at 0:50

    I love wind quintets

  • Great to hear Sir Malcolm's music being performed so well. Bravo!

  • I. Drunken Sailor

How does the 2nd, tango-like tune fit in?

II. Johnny Come Down to Hilo

Wind quintet is a really cool medium. I don't see why composers feel the need to distort these songs though, with ridiculous tempos, drama, and effects. They should develop their own themes! Roll the dice if you have to!

  • "I don't see why composers feel the need to distort these songs though, with ridiculous tempos, drama, and effects?"

Because it's fun. What's wrong with experimenting with other peoples ideas. Composers come up with their own themes all the time, but there's nothing wrong with interpreting other peoples ideas and reinventing them in your own way.

  • this is AMAZING i am doing in this in the wind quintet i am in as well. you guys played it really well, is this at some sort of competition?
