I lived in Sydney for 19 years (Punchbowl, Burwood, Greenacre, Cronulla, Coogee, Bondi). I have been living now in Los Angeles for about 4 from East LA to Venice. In regards to hardcore L.A. neghbourhoods, yes I concur that it doesn't hold a candle to Sydney. However, not all "projects" look like the Bronx or Watts. Some of these cats had to deal with some hardcore life situations. Because something looks scenic doesn't mean it is. However I do feel LA is more hardcore than East Sydney anyday.
