Excellent Kata but they was actually disqualified. In WKF Rules, Kata Bunkai must be completed in a maximum of 5 minutes from the Bow at the start to the Bow at the end. Chief Judge and Tatami Chief Terry Pottage, 8th Dan WKF Karate Referee and EKF Referee Commission member disqualified them as the Bunkai took 5 minutes and 8 seconds.

... the WKF only recognizes the main 4 karate styles to origionate from Okinawa ... or at least they only recognize those 4 styles for kata competition anyway ...

Karate does not in any way mimic natrural twitch muscle defence, the stance is all wrong and the kinds of blocks taught would literally break your arm against a MT kick. Ive seen it happen. Get black belt karate dude and pit him against a MT student of one year. I know where i'd put my money. I speak as somebody that did karate for many years. On the dance floor it's cool, in a real fight against somebody, no chance.

Maybe it was your training, or the style of karate you were in, or just you, maybe your meant for another style of MA. But I've seen plenty of people use karate and have it be very effective against any art. Plus in a ring situation other arts may have a advantage but in a real life kill or be killed situation, its VERY effective.

@f9hunter this kata predates all mainline styles. Basically the actual style this originated from is dead, but its still in use in Goju-Ryu, Shito-Ryu and maybe a few others.

when i was 13 and learning Kyokushin karate, my instructor only taught me 2 kata and told me that until i can do those smoothly and show no exhaustion, he can teach me the third form. im 20 yrs old right now and i just a 1st degree black belt. Schools these days hand them out too easily

@vladykohai Actually, the Bunkai was 5mins and 8 seconds. Don't believe me?? Time it!! The Bunkai is timed from the Bow at the start of the Bunkai to the Bow at the end. This is WKF Rules. My sensei was chief judge for this match and made the disqualification. The results are also on the WKF web site

Its all about the person learning the Martial Arts, lets say someone learns it for self defense. Well if you attack them with street brawler style you will most likely loose if the person knows wat hes doing. Now take a person that gose to karate and takes wat he knows and attacks people it may be a Self Defense art but you can use it as an attacking art if your a dick head. Aikido doesn"t have strikes as specialities, so it"s inferior to karate! Aikido is only self-defense, therefore superior to Karate!Aikido kicking is inferior to Karate!

Karate is a form of exercise based on hurting the adversaries, while Aikido only supress their memento and therefore makes them unable to move!Aikido and Karate share similarities as kata, but both use them differently! That"s all:)

I really like this video. The commentators are enthusiastic but dont seem to know much about karate. First of all it's not an empi kata and the kick to the throat at 4:24 is not a yoko geri kekomi (or side thrust kick). It´s actually an uchi mawashi-geri.
