@Concertchoir76 LOL No way. Emmy Rossum and Gerard Butler are talented and gorgeous people... but I will always prefer the originals. Give them a chance and maybe read the book. It's so much better to open your mind to the other versions since Rossum and Butler are a new and recent version. I must admit I loved the movie version first but I started to prefer Crawford and Brightman. Maybe you should also consider seeing the show on broadway or somewhere else. I saw it and it was fantastic

ice dancing rarely leaves me speechless but what can i say. this couple epitomises everything ice skating should and could be, a perfect blend of artistry, athleticism, and emotion. i have never seen a better routine. does anyone know who choreographed this routine? would have loved to seen the scores, but anyone familar with this sport will realise the scores don't always represent actually how the skaters performed. It was a combonation of "The Point of no Return" from where Calotta finds Piangi dead and Firmen and Andre' escape from the fire, then back to where Christine sings, then when she sings with the Phantom. As well as parts from "Down Once More". Then the very last part was the ending of "I Gave you my Music..." when the Phantom stops singing and the Orchestra plays a decent.

Over all, it was very well put together and the skaters were amazing. 5 Stars.

And, sorry, to answer the questions: this routine earned them a 3rd place in the Europeans (where they should have won IMO), a 4th place in the Worlds (where they could have got silver), and a 7th place in the Olympics (because ice dancing competitions are made of 3 dances, and they fell during the 2nd one, although they skated this one perfectly).

These are my favourite skaters ever. I wish more people knew them. You should put their names in the title of the video (Margarita Drobiazko and Povilas Vanagas). They're one of the most underrated team ever in ice dancing. All their routines are just wonderful, and I'm sure they would have won many world and olympic titles if it had not been for their nationality (Lithuanian in skating = almost impossible to win).

Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman were MADE for the stage version of Phantom. ALW wanted a younger, rougher Phantom for the movie. Emmy Rossum was only 16 when they made the movie. I know there's NO comparison to the stage version, but the film was a nice change and 10,000 women became Gerry Butler fans from it.
