You have to realize that things are always more complicated than they appear to be. In other words, there will always be new technology (that will help protect kids AND adults online such as blocking IP addresses, setting up passwords to share your account/online activity with ONLY certain people that you TRUST!) AT THE SAME TIME, online predators are ALSO SMART! And THEY will ALSO have new technologies that will help them hide online, create more "believable" fake identities... etc.
Thank you for sharing your honest opinions (and for admitting that you don't understand certain things about the issue of Children and Internet Safety). I KNOW that you are VERY smart (because of the way you talk and express your ideas, quoting the article, explaining how predators can trick kids or create a false identity, etc.) You seem to have a pretty good BASIC understanding of the issue of Kids and Internet Safety, BUT...

You are completely 1000000000000000000000000000000% CORRECT, and Your video should get more than 10000000 stars. This stuff with creepers really scares me. My AWSOME Daddy has really helped me and taught me what not and what to say. and has brought to my attention ALL they can on the Internet.
There are a lot of ways to do that... You could play strategic games like spore, age of empires, you can study a lot while having fun, with cools vids, of children with 4 years old playing violing!
You can learn how to play piano on youtube? You know... People who wants to teach people is more likely to pass a massage, about learning good stuff than advicing or giving oppinion!
That's the point, you didn't spoke your opinion on youtube, you did a act
If good advices and opinions would be listened, the whole world would be a better place, wouldn't be so social inequality, people smoking, or cars crashing in the streets.
Your video is cool, because you're a boy with action, attitude, and shows the importance that kids has conscience. Kids are not like robot, and they deserve to be trusted and trusts as well!
All of it depends the way parents teach your sons how to grow in the world!
Well. First, your video is interesting, is quite original!
It's a way to the whole world see what children thinks about the internet, when the hole internet is saying that children has to be watched while standing in front of it.
Agreeing or not with you, I give you points for being for posting something that could be done for others...
Opinion? Yeah, everybody has opinions, you're not different.
Talent Profile sites have now become more worrying than the general social networking sites, as so many young people have ease of registering to them, many of which are un-supervised online, ok accepting that happens is being a realist, however, because those youngsters are so keen to be noticed for Disney Channel and such like, they give across their personal information freely on profiles and in forums, believing they will get noticed! Very Very un-wise!
Very Good addition Crash, the articles have some good points and you put it across in your way very well.
You skipped on Parent interaction/chatting, the point there is that thru chatting you may think back and realise a mistake or the parent may pick up on something that was unwise ie: Perhaps as careful as the person is, they may have mentioned their School name online or something like that!
I have Moderated at numerous Talent Profile sites & found many fake people! KEEP SAFE!!
you said alot of good things and thats cool. some comments seem to be from total jerks who think kids dont have ideas, intelligence,& feeling....they suck toilet scum! :D
ur jst a little rich brat who thinks he's as mature and ready as an adult because u gott alotta expensive technological shit and u get more than 10 veiwers when u stream. ur not old ur eleven. shutup and stop talking about suc serious shit.
1. ur 11, u actually think fully groun adults with kids are gonna listen to ur bullshit. ur like "u dont have to do just cuz i say so" wtf is that all about. ur nothing to adults and stop taking urself so seriously. 2. if ur under 13, yes ur parents should no ur account details on things. ur obviasly acting and thinking to old for ur age. ur ELEVEN!! u cant protect urself and u certainly should be keepin shit from ur 'rents at that age.
so, you're saying im too smart for my age, while you're also saying i talk dumb shit? wow. what? im 12 retard. if you knew half the crap i knew your head would explode.
Lol, he's off by one digit! Big deal! I love how kids say retard, I wish your brother who got in that car accident his his head and became "Retarded". You're not too smart either.
Just a little brat with parents who spoil you.
Why in lords name would you post a video on Child safety when you're a freaking child.
first i'd like to say GO TO HELL. second, the reason my brother didn't get more injured is because he actually isnt a piece of worthless crap that will go to hell, like you.
Doesn't make a shit of sense. My cousin got shot and killed and never did no wrong in his life. So Fuck YOU! Children shouldn't have youtube accounts.
Hey, why don't you just put fake information about your account? I mean what's gonna happen if your birthday is not completely accurate, or even your name for that matter. It's a youtube account! It is a big step in keeping you safe!
Finally - I also recommend anyone under 16 or so, seriously consider disabling embedding on each video you upload. This helps to make it harder for questionable websites to re-use your vids and thereby attract other potential stalkers (or weirdos) to your YT account.
The one point you skipped, basically means that parents should talk to kids (or kids should talk to parents!) about what they do online and what they think about it. It's a very good idea for parents to ask you (or you tell them!) about things like; who do you talk to online, what do you know about them, what sort of things do they talk about. That gives your parents the chance to help you identify people that maybe you should think twice about trusting.
The issue about people disguising their identity is not solved just by blocking them. The point about them disguising their identity is that they do so to win your trust so that you wouldn't even think of blocking them. It's worth emphasising, adults *do* use stolen video and images of kids to create YT and IM accounts pretending to be kids.
To give an example, I recently found out about a 40yo man who was pretending to be a 15yo. He had YT, MySpace and MSN accounts all set up with fake (stolen) photos. He spent nearly a year talking to ppl from age 9 right up to adults, none of them caught on. When I found out I had someone tell him that he could either close all his accounts and never come back, or he could explain his activities to the police.
I'll send you some links that might give you some more ideas on the problem.
there are many points to raise and this could go on for a long time. IT isnt as clear cut as it sometimes seems and dont put your entire trust in firewalls and passwords. Parents should be more aware of what they are getting for their kids, and kids should try and involve their parents more. I wouldnt leave my child unsupervised on the net cos type something in the wrong way and you get inappropriate stuff, some of it quite shocking.
I think its up to each person. Some kids (like yourself, "Crash") are very mature and responsible for their age and, if I was your parent, I would trust you implicitly. But there's other kids who, even in their mid and late teens, are so irresponsible and inmature that I feel would need to be policed. So, it depends on the kid. And, parents need to clue themselves in as to the ways of the internet as well. If they don't know much about it themselves, will be hard for them to relate.
You should be aware of the fact, that every standard internet user gets a new ip address each time he or she connects to the internet. So even if the current ip is blocked the next day or so he is able to reconnect because he has a new ip.
Second thing: people can pretend to be someone else and if someone wants to harm you, he or she could pretend to be a nice 12 year old girl who wants to meet you. And this person can get your trust very easy if you are not careful.
in my country there is no jr high just primary school (kindagarden to yr6) and high school (yr 7 to 12) and there is college but we call it university

Ok I agree with you about some points, Its not the people on youtube and or everywhere else it the person making the video every word that comes out of you mouth is goin to be inspected by someone so all you have to do is just not say stuff you dont want people to know, obvious stuff like names numbers etc etc. Teach your kids good morals and trust them and we will have no problems
the standard advice about how to protect kids online seems 2 assume 2 things-1/parents have no clue about how chat rooms or social sites work (probably true in most cases)and 2/ that the kids are plain idiots (not true in most cases)ur clearly aware of what not to do and clever ways u can do more than these articles even normally mention-i agree on how important it is 2 stress 2 ppl how much more info can be gathered by sum1 armed with only a very small bit of info received-gr8 vid...
Parents should take control of there child parents should NOT be able 2get the kid myspace, facebook Ect. password and stuff they should like talk 2 them every now or than and let them go out with there friends cuz then you wont be worry bout the intrnet and when they are at there friends house just call every hour and you will have a safe kid
There's a fucking child sexual predator on my town too!!I swear I'm like surrounded by them.

There is a new product to protect children online.(SnipeSlider)
Snipe creates a barrier between “parent” mode and “children” mode.
It's amazing! Take a look:
