  • yes i noticed that the plants around my garlic and my peppermint have not had any insect damage

  • Dear john fermented garlic was used to help break it down, is so very different, but we think only beer it is say we do not know the good use of right fermenting.

  • oh..silly me...forget my first question...you answered it later in the video...i shouldn't ask questions while i'm watchiing! wait till it's over :) my bad...hehehe

  • John, what happens if you left a bulb in and it grows again, will it make a new head or just grow a new top? i've put peeled cloves in a jar in the fridge and they actually sprouted roots and a green thing out the top! I planted them and they are growing. but I want to know if the bulb left in the dirt will grown a new head the next year...like if the top gets pulled off but the garlic stayed in the ground, will it be harvestable next season

  • If you bake the garlic bulbs whole, (don't take the cloves apart), they will be sweet and delicious and not strong tasting. Just take a whole bulb, paper and all and put in the oven next time you bake something, then take a clove and pop out the garlic "paste". Delicious on bread, veggies or eaten as is.

  • cool informative episode. I enjoyed the reference to the yogi's diet, and the scientific explanation's

"Hey you like the color purple" HAHA and that randomness is super funny

  • John you should look into Companion gardening. Even if you don't eat garlic, planting it with your other plants can help with pest and weed control! Onions, fennel and dill work too. Then donate the things you don't like to others!

  • Cool - I like that John keeps it real. He talks in the video the way 95% of us talk in real life. It's like talking to your garden smart neighbor.

  • If you don't eat garlic why'd you grow so much?

  • nice video,, but you talk 2 much lol

  • "My Garlic looks like shit" lol

  • what you said about garlic, you just pissed of TONS of italians

    lol interesting though

  • Go Ghetto!!! (Classic)

  • I love this video!! I love you. xx Many thanks for telling us the dates you planted them. I want to plant some garlic now and I was worried it is all ready to late. :-)

  • I havent had any problems with the pests you mentioned.

  • Make home made soup and add garlic cloves a few. Great for keeping coughs away. I use garlic in almost all my foods.

  • Make home made soup and add garlic cloves a few. Great for keeping coughs away.

  • John, try roasting your garlic and add to your collard greens, there is a reason us Italians LOVE garlic.

  • hey john, do you reuse all the soil when you're done harvesting or do you toss it out? thanks!

  • pickle in high quality soy sauce and vinegar and honey and they are friggin delicious

  • Can these be grown in Canada?

  • I'm having a hard time with my onions- globe and bunching. They just won't grow. They have tiny leaves but there's really no growing activity. Should they be in full sun? I'm growing on my balcony with western exposure.

  • I have had great success dehydrating garlic. I'll chop the cloves in tiny pieces and to use in recipes an for elephant garlic I'll cut into thin slices in the vegefruit slicer ...(a.k.a a meat slicer to some :)

  • John - you're the best - keep on cussing and teaching us... we love you!

  • :)

  • @growingyourgreens Question, do the bugs like the garlic? i heard bugs dont really like garlic

ive heard u can use garlic to ward pests off, u can grow garlic by other plants and they say plants just move else where,is this true?

if so what does the plants around u look the garlic, do they look healthy and none attacked? ive never grown garlic but i might it this works

  • How about using the dehydrator and dehydrating the garlic?

  • good work dude....

  • He always cusses hes a bad mamma jamma! :D

  • I eat garlic probably daily, it does irritate my tum but not enough for me to stop eating it... I absolutely love it... and it IS good for you!!

  • I read that garlic is pretty toxic indeed, specially when you can not make a meal out of it either! :/

  • John, I've watched for some time but not posted before. I want to tell you that the wife and I enjoy your videos so very much. Not only do we learn but we enjoy your positive and happy personality! You reek of what gardening should be, my friend. We garden 1800 sq. ft. and have expanded to nearly 3000 this year, in part due to the inspiration you have provided. Thanks for ecouraging us to come another step closer to being independant! Good health and happiness to you, John.

  • @growingyourgreens ...got a link for those gloves?

  • The bigger the clove you plant the bigger the bulb will be, so next year only plant the outer best cloves from bulbs. =)

  • lol!!!!!

you only on the garlic on skin for short period of time in a poultice

sorry..opps. Only hold on skin for short period time!

  • I almost unsubscribed because Jon doesn't swear enough. And the anti-garlic rant....hmmmm....I don't know....if he starts going on against scotch, that's it!

  • @growingyourgreens I have unsubscribed due to cussing.

  • I bought a huge box of beautiful garlic when I was passing through Gilroy. I don't know what prompted to eat a whole raw clove, but I did. Never do that is all I will say. Also, avoid the garlic ice cream. I like the wine barrel planter idea. I have been using the cheap 18 gal rubbermaid and pool toy buckets. Are there cons to that? They seem to last outside a few years at least. However, wine barrels would be prettier.

  • I would be suspicious of anyone who didn't eat garlic... They might be vampires! It's the same as any other food, eat it in moderation and there is nothing wrong with it. You could dry it out and make garlic plaits for friends as gifts :)

  • Geees people jons "cussing" isn't that bad! :p relax

  • Since you do not eat much garlic you might could make and organic spray to deter bugs and pest. Mix several garlic cloves with water and steep overnight. Strain and spray on plants every few days or after rainfall.

  • whats with the cussing in your last few videos?

  • @silverfoxx229 I dunno, but I kind of like it

  • @m081779 Yes! More swears!

  • Maybe that is why folks don't ear raw garlic?

Garlic and onions are distant relatives, and I really don't like raw onions either, but cooked onions are great.

Folks normally only eat cooked or pickled garlic.

Since you have so much garlic all ready at once, I would pickle it and use it as I needed it for chili or spaghetti.

I also like pickled onion on pink salmon or sardines with fresh or pickled Cayenne pepper rings.

  • that was a really nice video John, I got about two or three more months till I can harvest mine...wooo hooo!!!!

  • oh come on John... braid them and hang them!

  • Use manuka honey and fresh aloe gel on wounds. It works great.

  • Would you do a video about shade drying?

  • John, I love digging in the garden too. It's therapuetic and relaxing for me.

  • Nice video. But what's with the sissy gloves? Get those hands dirty! :o)

  • Wow $20 for a wine barrel! in my area its more like $150 for wood $75 for plastic. So lucky!

  • Very nice, are you going to make a garlic braid? My garden has perpetual garlic, it's been growing in the family for over 40 years, continuously : )

  • Great vid John. Thanks

  • We live in Texas seems like anything grows about any time ... We have been planting a little of everything to see what works and what doesnt ... Garlic is something that a little one can help you plant pretty easily

  • I dont know why people are afraid of garlic... all i know that it has anti viral, anti bacterial, anti fungal properties, has anti cancer properties as well, gives more dilation on blood, helps the heart, reduces cholesterol and makes your dick rock hard... now what to be afraid of? tse3 let's not be ignorant on God's gift's here on earth=) eat it regularly and judge by yourself=)

  • @micknacksrx thats so nice that you talk about the father in heaven right after you talk about your male member. im sure he is proud.

  • Lovely :O) Once again you have perfect timing I am growing garlic this year so this is a great helpful video :O) Death by garlic lol.. I never knew it could burn you wow Thanks for sharing the information and tips. Beautiful garlic crop

  • @M1STYWORLD It will burn you as bad or worse than peppers I found this out the hard way when I peeled about ten heads to make some garlic oil ... burnt blisters on my finger tips and it really didnt start showing up till I was about done with the garlic

  • Great video! I taped garlic on my leg once to see if it would cure an infection....it ended up burning my skin as well...the mark is still there. I do put garlic in my food, but in very small amounts. Got great results with garlic on my athlete's foot infection though, but I had to be patient...took a while to achieve healing.

  • nice grow! me and my dad grow garlic all year round coz it's essential on our everyday meals, breakfast lunch or dinner... 2 cloves each meal.... garlic really helps a lot on your body... specially in blood circulation... and way damn great in bed... makes your , you know, rock hard, and lasts you longer=)

  • Excellent video as always! We recently harvested all of our lettuce and now are waiting to harvest some Anahiem Peppers as well as some tomatoes.

    Thanks for the Awesome Videos!

  • You can also freeze your garlic bulbs John and just break some cloves off when you need them, that's what i do when i've grown mine in the past, really enjoy your videos keep them coming :D

  • cool

  • I love the color purple. A man who is not afraid of color, AWESOME! Love garlic :-) Good crop you got from it. Great video, Thank you
