The 1980 Mr. Olympia was definitely fixed. The promoter of that contest was Paul Graham, a very, very close friend of Arnold's. As it turned out, while the rules stated that individuals had to officially enter their application to compete one month before the contest, the IFBB bent the rule and let Arnold enter the day before! He waited that long because by that point he knew who the judges were.

Amazing how clued up Arnold is, that is why he was champion, he knew about intent, concentration and visualization. Although I think chanpions understand this naturally, I'm sure he leart a lot from Vince Gironda. The human body has a cellular threshold that does not allow it to grow to the size of bodybuilders in today's era. Steroids are simply synthetic amino acids that allow the cells to continue to grow, even when the body won't naturally allow them too. Therefore, you're still putting in all of the hard work, all of the dedication and all of the time it takes to be a bodybuilder. They don't make anything easier, they just allow you to basically stay "young."

@JHaslip steroids are synthetic hormones increase your recovery rate and give you the ability to train more often. You're right though, they make it easier for a beginners and intermediates but at the top level they only allow you to train harder.
