I think its incredible just how seriously the predictions of 20 years ago have come true now, rail prices are the most expensive in Europe if not the world, and we are still using the same locomotives as back then with very little new developments, perhaps channel 4 should do a new dispatches episode and compare the results, bet people would get a shock
So England's Railroads were built for the same reason as american railroads were profit well a verry interesting film 22 years old but still true

Our local line still uses Pacers, they ride a lot better than seen here, with decent track they're not too bad.
But getting on a bit :P
