  • Just a suggestion, you might want to add a mirror for downloading. I clicked the second link (first link is dead) and the download didn't start, it just hung. So I cancelled the download and tried to download it again and I have to wait an hour an a half to attempt the download again.

  • @Havek923 Okay..I re-uploaded it to a different mirror.

  • Would games work on ubuntu? I am kinda planning on using this for linux games.

  • hey guy, what version VNC are you using ???

  • Oh... the old link will NOT work because I redid the Infinimod website, sorry :(

  • @tohlenforst Haha that's alright lol

  • Let me tell you a secret. Android = Linux.

  • @cumulus0007 you mean Android = Linux modified kernel

  • @Opensourcegangster Not relevant. Canonical, Novell and numerous other vendors modify the Linux kernel as well with the use of patches. Android utilises a completely different runtime, composed of custom-built Java and C libraries. GNU and Busybox work just fine on Android (ARM) without any major modifications.

  • if you run linux is it possible to go back to android again or will it replace the android kernel?

  • @pipovalkeryn The Android kernel *is* Linux. This guy is only demonstrating you a way to get your hands on a terminal emulator application, useful to use a CLI for entering commands. Just opening your Android browser is an act of Linux usage.

  • Aircrack will work?

  • what you talkin about Willis????

  • Is there a version of Ubuntu with Gnome 2 that this will work with. 9.04 maybe?

  • Cut your fingernails jerk!

  • now i get busybox permission denied error why is that?

  • Does this work on HTC desire stock ROM I did everything you did but I got to vnc typed everything in and it said connection rejected any ideas

  • internet run?

  • It says "The archive is either in unknown format or damaged"

  • WTF fingernails?

  • @LotsOBlawk I'm not sure about the wireless keyboard and mouse part but yes in theory you can run wine on this, but it will be extremely slow.

  • @Opensourcegangster : I have an Infuse and im running CatyRom that's based off of the stock AT&T KJ4 gingerbread leak with the KK4 modem with Entropys daily driver kernel.

  • @Opensourcegangster

I'm having same problems as theSuperVil. I've tried clearing all, using all different ports ect ect and vnc wont connect. My phone does everything your does to the point where gouger the error you ignore then go to vnc...help please :-(

  • @MrBigshnizzle78 Okay...the only thing I can conclude is that it might be your kernal/rom combination. What device are you using, and are you still using the stock rom?

  • @Opensourcegangster Great video. I am having problems connecting the VNC. I tried port 5900 and leaving it blank. I have all my settings like yours. Any ideas?

  • Hello Ganster That's working without root? Thank You

  • @rafaelfm23 nope you need root

  • Thanks Gangster. The best video on the topic.

  • cut your nails man.. (2:20)

  • Hi i have a linux Wifislax i want running on my android phone can you help me how to running on Galaxy S2 PLZ

  • @crimekiller786 To get the actual distribution running on your device will take some clever porting, you may need to ask a Linux developer about that.

  • Gyhkl

  • Do You Have To Install It On The SD Card Or Can It Be On The Internal Memory

  • can u play minecraft on it?

  • Hi, nice video. Is it possible to connect to the VNC using a computer or it is just running on localhost? Also I'm interested in maybe running a server on it like asterisk pbx for SIP

  • That is an EVO 4G, right? That's what I have. Will I be able to use 4G network on it? How about a wifi tethering app?

  • @herelookatthis Yep it'll still work because you're not replacing the operating system.

  • Hi. Is there a way to run linux under a java phone? Because there is a VNC+ on java phones, but there is one problem: where can i find a terminal emulator for java?

  • @MrSeba835 You don't Java doesn't use a terminal. The only reason you can on android is because android IS Linux therefore being rooted allows you to access the hidden terminal in Android Linux.

  • worked perfectly on my Infuse. Thanks for this!

  • I attempted to install ubuntu on my Nook Color using your turorial. Everything was going fine up until I have to make the connection with Android VNC. I entered the password, host and bit color just the way your instructions said. I'm almost certain the problem is in the port. Could you please help me figure this out. I really need Ubuntu for work. Thanks and great video by the way.

  • @tank900rr Hmm..did you try leaving the port empty?

  • @Opensourcegangster I tried it blank, 5900 and 443. Another thing I noticed is that the image I got form your link was blank. Would you know where to find these 3 files? I am using the Terminal Emulator and VNC.

  • @tank900rr Did you try the 2shared link? Oh btw it's not my website it's owned by infinimod ;) Also..when you run Ubuntu in the terminal does it give you any sort of Error?

  • @Opensourcegangster That's the strange thing, it shows the same behavior as your phone did in this vid but it never opens Ubuntu. I'm going to extract the image from another download and try it again.

  • your SEXY!

  • Working Links Now Available, check in the description!!

  • how would you port another version of linux that's based off of ubuntu to run on arm?

  • @Blu0tuth0ninja As far as I'm aware...that's not a simple two-step process, you would honestly have to ask an experienced Linux developer since I'm not really sure..I imagine it involves re-packing files and all...but it could be more simple/difficult than that.

  • The links are dead!

  • @TheRoachstr0099 updated links now avilable

  • "SU NOT FOUND"

  • What's the point of this

  • i dont think you need the MD5

  • damn .img fuckkk shit 32 mb is correct?

  • @mou676 lol no..check the description I updated with new working link

  • I have dial up so I can't download the .img, but I have an Ubuntu CD I can use. Is there anything special about the .img in the download, or can I make my own .img from my CD?

  • @skeezixmccat It is possible to do, however I believe that you would probably need to port it to be able to run on ARM processors. So, once it's modified to run on the processor it will most likely work just fine. That's just my thoughts on it, I could be wrong though lol.

  • can it work on a 600mhz processor?

  • @hasenlamano Probably..it may be a little slow..but still usable

  • Can you use a gnome img instead?

  • @wewantutopia Are you on a galaxy device? And are you still using the stock kernel?

  • @Opensourcegangster Yup, it is a Captivate. Stock 2.2 updated through Kies (but rooted of course). Any ideas?
