  • thanks for the tutorial, i would like to make a durable diorama for my kids to play their action figure, what kind of material can i use other than wood...? or is there any methods to make the cardboards more durable..?

  • @JDQ2345 Have fun! You can use foam board. It is more durable than cardboard and reasonably strong and waterproof. Can buy it in drugstores and arts/crafts store. usually around 2 dollars a sheet.

  • @JDQ2345 plastic

  • soo helpfuool

  • dude you're so awsome

  • can u use paper mache

  • thats the best diorama tutorial i have seen

    thank you

  • could i use paper towles in my one or were you just patending it was plaster ?

  • @Fringeko I am not sure of your question. Yes, You can use paper towels.

  • @epicfantasy thank you THank you YOUR my fav on youtube you should be proud of yourself when i am finnished doing my trench i will send you a video responce it is coming along nicely i just have to plaster it i alreaddy have the barbe wire made and i will paint it tomorow aswell thanks again

  • pics will be up soon, depending on how soon i can get the materials

  • Get some Styrofoam, cut out trench shape, glue remaining Styrofoam on plywood with the same dimensions as the edge of the foam, detail.

  • styrofoam**** spell check much?

  • which works better stiraphome or plaster apparace

  • Plaster of paris definitely works better and ends up looking much better. imho

  • i think im still use styrofoam i think thats easier

  • woodfiller is better ,it dries solid, although more exspensive.but you can rough the terrain up before it sets

  • @mrgameguy100 good idea man, I think I'll use your idea

    thanks

  • tnx so much for this tutuyial

  • wicked!

  • what that f....

  • brilliant

  • if u want a blown up building just build a building out of clay or lots of paper blued together and put a small firework in it

  • how do u make fake explosions in like battles or something

  • get a piece of wool and stick it too the destroyed thing.Dont glue it though lol or it will be stuck there forever

  • do u play warhammer40K???

  • Jizez... this reminds me of what my father did... everything looked like shit... my father is abit pissed with me because i build them another way, i sculp them by hand and then sand it down and make it look like stuff blew up and such

  • i like to thank you for this tutorial. i made my trenches like yours and they turned out perfektly

  • Well if you're going to do a cardboard cereal box, thats more of a 1:32 size isnt it? you have to be smart with the size of the trench, if you get the size wrong, you'll have to restart the whole thing.

  • I'm making a trench diorama for my lil cuz.

I'm only 13 and i'm finding this very easy.

    Thnks for the great tutorial!

  • What horrid soundtrack! :-(

  • im doing a street diarama in normandy 1944....tiger 1 tank and usa infantry...ive noticed if dont have any ww2 diaramas here...

  • Nice! I don't currently do WW2 dioramas but I used to do them when I was a kid. Hopefully I will get to do some at a point in the future. Tanks in battle are really awesome.

  • I do world war 1 dioramas

  • Nice! Send me pictures and I would be glad to put them up on my website .

  • I am still in the process of doing my best one its going to have tanks, trenches, bunkers, tents, and etc. I am still ordering the stuff though.

  • You should make ww2 dioramas again

  • thats what ive been asking will as well..

  • dude that sounds so awesome make sure to make a video of it when your done.

  • Hi. I have been wanting to make a Iwo Jima diorama for a long time. Now I have what I need. But how could I make a fortified hillside? I tried paper mache and it looked like shit.

  • Hi, Did you try making a cardboard frame to strengthen the paper mache. You could also make the fortified hillside using styrofoam. It comes out good, I have a tutorial on this. Its the vid with the dragon and the wizards tower.

  • if u get lots of clay or even better modeling clay it can be painted and shaped

  • Yeah I use clay it is more realistic

  • what do you put to hold the pasture down on the cardboard

  • I spray glue on. You can just brush on diluted white glue. 50% water and 50% glue. I use a spray bottle and a product called scenic cement from woodland scenics company.

  • This is Great stuff!

If I ever have time I'll build some stuff!

  • i was wondering would a ridge with a command post on it be a good diorama for military 1/32 figures and vehicles

  • I think its a terrific idea. You should go for it. Going to be pretty good sized and will be a challenge to get the scale looking right but I say go for it! Send me pics if you do it and I will post them to my website.

  • well right now in in school so it may be a while but i can keep u posted on it

  • This is great!! I've always been stuck as to how to make some great scenes, but your channel is a great find!

  • dude its called get a two inch thick peice of insulation styromoam and dig it in the styrofoam

  • learn to spell.

  • your point is valid, however, this kind of technique is great for making stuff with material you already have around your home. Cardboard (for the skeleton) is easily retrieved from many common household products, newspaper (used for 'packing' the skeleton) is also common, especially if you get lots of junkmail. Plus the paper towel/plaster mix adds much more realistic results when texturing. The methods used by stormthecastle are cheap and effective.

  • Thanks so mutch!!1 I just made one!!!

  • great vid. i started making dioramas from your videos

  • Thanks! You are going to have a lot of fun. I really love making dioramas and its amazing the miniature worlds that can be created :)

  • thats so cooL! I gotta make one!

  • awesome! Thanks alot

  • Thanks so much!

  • Hi, Sounds like a challenge. This is what I would do. I would make the complete trenches first. Make the cardboard shape, glue in wooden pieces for slats then apply a ground or dirt texture to it. This way the trench is completed before its installed. To make it real easy I would make the cardboard shapes, then unfold them and lay them flat so I could apply wood slats and ground textures - fold em back into shape and put them in the diorama. Would look great and pretty easy to do.

  • Oh ya sorry forgot, but since the Germans put wood in there trench as a frame, would I paint it brown and black or would actually buy a wood material, and if so what and how? I'm so confused!

  • Hy again sorry but a just a couple more questions, my Kursk diorama is going to have the trench on a hill, so I don't know how I would do that. And also, my diorama's 1/72 scale , and as you know cereal boxes are pretty big so I don't know how to make a trench frame for it, any tips? Thanks alot!

  • Not a problem at all. 1/72 scale is pretty small so you might want to use a very thin cardboard like greeting card, plain printer paper might even be good. Depending on what you want the trenches might be one half inch to one inch deep so just experiment a bit and fold up some things, place your figures in it until you get something that looks about right.

  • thx 4 the help again will u rock i hope the great toutorials keep coming thx

  • Ha second comment, You are awesome, I just commented on this on your first video, you said it would be up pretty soon, I go on your channel and it's up, thanks so much.

  • You are very welcome! Great idea for a tutorial. If you have any other ideas for diorama tutorials I would love to give them a try - thanks!

  • Well actually my other questions pretty simple, how do you make water? Thanks, but I'm just so curious!

  • Hi, I have a tutorial on adding water to dioramas. I use a product called Realistic Water. here is the video: cazBiXnUYjQ

It's part of my 300 Diorama series.

  • yay first comment

    Awesome video, helped me alot
