Yes because it is Marriott i.e one of the most boring and unexciting hotel chains in the world next to Hilton, Hyatt, Sheraton etc. Space isn't everything. Personality, character and quality may be more important to some people than simply space.

they may be cheaper but the shade offers much more then just "space"... ive been there and its amazing... the location, the zinc lounge, the area around the hotel (since its in downtown manhattan beach and 2 minutes from the beach)... make sure you go there at least once before jugging...
