  • Just think if you would have used a rifle...

  • great footage, nice deer, bad luck, i also hunt in kansas and it is imparative to aim a little lower than you want to hit because an older buck like this in kansas didnt get that big by being dumb they are always nervous about open ground. Would have been a great bow kill, i feel for ya man.

  • I hit a good buck years ago in the same spot. The deer ran off to 60 yards and stood their looking back at me with the arrow sticking out of him. Never did find him either. Its called the void shot, below the spine above the lungs. Deer are amazing creatures and have good healing capabilitys. Bowhunting is a game of inches!

  • Im wondering what kind of broadhead you were using, what bow, poundage and draw length because you shot shity penetration

  • i watched it a second time and it seems the cow put him on alert for a sec. my guess is one or two more seconds at full draw and he woulda been on your grill. i woulda taken the shot too. but after watching this i will wait

  • nice footage and thanks for having the courage to show it. too many people claim to be the best hunters in the world and never miss or make a mistake. this video will allow other hunters to learn from deers body language before the shot. even todays bows are not fast enough all the time

  • Happens to the best. you ever see him again?

  • you would have double lunged that deer for sure. i know you were sick.

  • Awesome footage, great hunting and a good shot that got ducked...too bad.

    What broadheads were you shooting?

    5/5

  • Even where you hit it. Still seems like a solid hit. IMO he is laying in a ditch or bruch somewhere dead. But im interested to see if you happen to see him again. good luck and sounds like you are hunting a highway how close?

  • He was right at 22 yards. I thought the same thing too when we watched the footage that night. We didnt go look for him until the next day, so if he was going to die, I thought he for sure would have overnight, plus we followed blood for over a quartermile, but there was never what I would consider to be a great amount of blood, just real spotty. Finally it just ran out. We searched the whole place anyway. We wont ever know unless I see him again or get a picture on the trail camera again.

  • @GreenHeadNato It's amazing how fast and far they can move in zero seconds. At 22 yards you are right on top of him and he still jumped at least a foot. It's hard to aim so low as to be shooting at the ground under the deer, but you almost have to do it. Aim to miss and he is on your wall. Good luck next season, he may be bigger.

  • Beautiful buck & great footage! Sorry that turned out that way, there's no worse feeling than that.
