@GHOST2924 It depend where you live, if you want real history re-enactment, just google it for your area, you should find something for the period you want, I'm guessing medieval. Medieval is one of the most popular, so you should find something. You then just need to decide what period within medieval you want, then go down and try it out, see what you think, they're all different, some are all about fighting some are more about making pots and stuff, so it's up to you.

Larping is more ike D&D or Middle Earth role play. I know because I've done them both.

Agh they shouldn't be clanging steel blades like that. You'd ruin any edge and make it totally useless. Blocking something with the blade was a last resort, and would have been done with the flat of it, and would have been more focused on redirecting the energy, not taking all into the blade.

@hanrinch The armor is very expensive and it is not easy to obtain it... my war equipment suit costed 80-100 ths czk so around 4000 eur... but we are not wasting our time.. it is hobby... you don´t have any hobbies? You only work?? I have a job and I´m glad to have sometimes free day for fighting.... What´s so special on it?

@ceskakorouhev Well... Realisticly in any war people would run to clash or march but they were close why not charge? and having heavy armor like that in the blazing heat is a bit urgh but TO HELL WIT IT i would charge just to be knocked down to the ground with those sticks and batons

@NuggetBlubber No... when somebody hit you by succesfull slash or pierce, you need to consider, if this hit could be deadly or not and then play a role of dying soldier or continue in fight... How much armor you can wear, you are allowed by others to surcease some hits... so if you were hit succesfully by somebody and you still trying pass through it and dont want to fall, then you are usually attacked by many with no chance on more succes or chance to fight and stand again ....

man, even with uniforms, it must've been so difficult to distinguish who's who in a battle. I mean, 0:30 look at that mesh! Most soldiers in an army didn't even have 100% matching uniforms, so they were pretty much just bashing whatever was in front of them!
i was thinking that, im sure back then friends stuck together covering each other, making it a little easier to spot friend from foe. im guessing most of the warriors were hit unexpectedly from the side or behind, due to the helmets obscuring your view.

They, like many Eastern European reenactors, are very enthusiastic but compared to Western European fighting somewhat more prone to 'accidents/injuries' - good examples include the mentioned arrow shot and the polearm waving at around 0:23 (in red).
This is cup of tea, but you cannot merge this with eastern fencers as in Poland or Russia, they are crazy ! They bush themself really as want to kill each one... We Czechs are somewhere in middle :O)).. we are fighting with strength but securly and to look like it is real because of visitors(viewers)... but believe me or not.. it is save... Take example in 0:40.. it looks like I´ve been kill him, but it was OK and nothing happened to him... we know each other and we know the right border...
and if you look closer.. the man in red have poleaxe with gum on it... so it is safe... Iam ratherly glad if somebody dont have the gum because of contemporary.. gladly to be slashed by real poleaxe than this one.. even more strenghtly...:O))
IN the SCA "wars" you have it more like a Landscenackt Pike unit. About five spears for every sword and shield. It's mostly because it is thought you get more "kills" with a spear.
Yes, I know, we are using them too... 3 and 4 meter long pikes but together with pavises in first line.... but this battle shown on video was fought by the knights on top of the hill.. look down the hill and you will see units with spears...
but it is not sharp... concretly this fight was really soft... everytimes somebody hurts bud nothing special.. only few exemplar examples can be found.. one friend lost his eye by crossbow arrow...
The arrow was badly secured, so she lost her eye, but no brain damage ;O).. for god sake the crosbows are allowed wit winding to 10 lbs. and if this arrow was secured as it may be, nothing could happend.. but you know... and today? She is wearing slip on eye, armor and is figting farther... Good girl, good warrior :O)...
@kolodej111 what would make me worry are the Spears. even if theY#re blunt the still are pointy. if it goes wrong, one could loose an eye(if not more).
but its still cool. especially that so many are parcipating in it.
I do this myself and the weapons are indeed quite blunt. Getting hit by a 'battle-safe' sword is like being hit with a steel bar. Sure it hurts, but it doesn't cut.
Also when fighting, at least in my group, you aim for non-vital body parts. Head and groin are off-limits, for example.
@DJsharp707 You would be surprised how safe this is. Everyone is careful not to deliver a blow that could actually hurt to an unarmoured area and as Kolodej said the weapons are completely blunt. To my knowledge nobody has been killed in reenactment recently although you will be hard pushed to find someone who has been doing it for more than a few years who hasn't been injured somehow.
@DJsharp707 You think they'd ACTUALLY ALLOW Sharpened Steel Weapons?... Yeah. There Blunt. Even so, your still wearing real Armour, so it doesn't hurt... I guess?. Meh. Never took part in one. Looks like an AWESOME battle anyway :P
@DJsharp707 The weapons are real indeed, but if you notice the weapons arent swinged in any "tecnical" or "professional" way, to be able to even cut your oponent it would talke time to even hit any part of his body, and to even hit you have to not swing it but you have to try to empale your oponent and as those swords are "shortswords" they dont have that kind of hability" and the spears are swinged carefully.
@DJsharp707 and most of them are im fully steel plate armor. it would be difficult to even scratch them let alone take someones head clean off which even without plate armor is hard to do when randomly swinging a weapon around

btw if this was real,in the middle of battle,how do each soldier who knows on their side?everyone looks different and i dont see some kind of uniform in them
in the middle ages there were no uniforms... the units recognize themselves by crosses on their dresses and by the coloured circles on their helmets... but this battle was mix of all middle ages times because it was no reeanactment but only a fairy tale....

If somebody want to see it on real or even participate on this you can.. But you need to have qualified equipment to be admitted into the battle and rules are strict.. so i suggest for first year try to visit Czech republic to see the battle on real and choose to meet wit us to talk about it etc...

there are unwritten rules... everybody knows when is time to die... when somebody cut your throat or slash you in to the head, there is big probability that you could be dead in real.. Guys in full plates or heavy armor can resist more bites but you know .. if somebody don´t know the right level, other will teach him :O(... :O))
As a kid I used to LARP but now when Im a few years older Ive been looking for something a bit more hardcore. Ive seen fights from vyborg and I cant say I like what I saw. People got hurt real bad too... If I wanna hurt people I wouldent waste money on armor and a sword, then I would buy a gun.
But THIS video on the other hand show a more true picture of medevil reenactment I hope! :D It would b fun to go 100% too but as long as its done properly and with sane people..!
yes.. we fight safely than eastern fencers.. but sometime shit happens... you know.. if you want to try it, go with us on Libusin, but be prepared that you can be not allowed to concerned in battle because of your inventory, but we can communicate it before...

What I belive I need is: Gambeson, helmet with faceguard, gauntlets, harness with shoulder plates, sword/short axe and shield(or hillebard/long axe)?
you can find it for example on the Libusin, every manufacturer from Bohemia will be there... helmet cca 80eur for good helmet (i recomand hat or cap) , maybe few plates150-250 eur, but not full and not necessary, only wool warshirt (we call it warkoč), leather boots (but with no ribbon on backward), and wool armor under plates, spear with ball on the end, maybe sword and little hand shield, wooden spoon, leather or wool bag and you will be excelent spearmen for start...
If you want you can go to fight with us... but you must travel to Czech republic on spring last year... This battle is usually on st.George´s day.. in village Libušín near city Kladno near the capital Prague... you are welcome...
In this battle was only one with broken leg, but because he badly fall and they found him under big hill of corpses, sometimes some minor bleeding, but few horribles.. There is one girl which lost one eye thanks to shot from crossbow.. but she is going usually to the battles even now, but with ligature (or how to call it) or tie over eye and she fight like most man don´t know...
i know but at least in this time period people were very polite unlike in the world wars some guy runs up behind you while your already in combat and slits your throat heheh

good reanactment,in terms of size,never seen a medieval one that big,but armies on that period were much more organized,single lines,same armour for each regiment,but i guess that the closest you can get.....

Hey, cool videos but some mistakes. When you move out, you need to move out much slower, step by step in a shield wall. The front ranks just hold the shields and let the guys behind you do the hacking over your heads at the enemy. Just hold shields, don't charge, your team will last longer. Also, when the front man falls, the rear man can lift him up and keep shoulder to should so none break through your line. You will be astonished how a 20 men shield wall kills 60 disorganized men easily.
70 kg armor? Lol man do You have any armor? The weight of a gull plate armor of medieval knight is up to 40kg. And running with in it isn't such a hard thing.
yes I have an armor and because I´m 7 feet high and have fullplate and i usually taking to the war axe, 2 swords, morning star and two handed sword i have 205 kg together... and if I weight 135 kg so my equipment weight 70 kg..
I really hope medieval battles weren't fought like this, I'd hate fighting for hours on a battlefield only to see that NO ONE WAS KILLED ;)

Naštvalo nás tehdy, že jsme byli všichni zkontrolováni a obdrželi camrátka a na bitevním poli nás nějaký tlustý idiot nehodlal pustit do bitvy.. tak jsme odešli.. Dodnes mě mrzí incident s panem ministrem, kterého jsem postrašil svoji sekyrou... Posílám pozdravy a omluvu do Polska !

man, even with uniforms, it must've been so difficult to distinguish who's who in a battle. I mean, 0:30 look at that mesh! Most soldiers in an army didn't even have 100% matching uniforms, so they were pretty much just bashing whatever was in front of them!

i was thinking that, im sure back then friends stuck together covering each other, making it a little easier to spot friend from foe. im guessing most of the warriors were hit unexpectedly from the side or behind, due to the helmets obscuring your view.

Our Czech colleagues are to be respected and feared :-)
They, like many Eastern European reenactors, are very enthusiastic but compared to Western European fighting somewhat more prone to 'accidents/injuries' - good examples include the mentioned arrow shot and the polearm waving at around 0:23 (in red).

This is cup of tea, but you cannot merge this with eastern fencers as in Poland or Russia, they are crazy ! They bush themself really as want to kill each one... We Czechs are somewhere in middle :O)).. we are fighting with strength but securly and to look like it is real because of visitors(viewers)... but believe me or not.. it is save... Take example in 0:40.. it looks like I´ve been kill him, but it was OK and nothing happened to him... we know each other and we know the right border...

and if you look closer.. the man in red have poleaxe with gum on it... so it is safe... Iam ratherly glad if somebody dont have the gum because of contemporary.. gladly to be slashed by real poleaxe than this one.. even more strenghtly...:O))

IN the SCA "wars" you have it more like a Landscenackt Pike unit. About five spears for every sword and shield. It's mostly because it is thought you get more "kills" with a spear.

Yes, I know, we are using them too... 3 and 4 meter long pikes but together with pavises in first line.... but this battle shown on video was fought by the knights on top of the hill.. look down the hill and you will see units with spears...

The arrow was badly secured, so she lost her eye, but no brain damage ;O).. for god sake the crosbows are allowed wit winding to 10 lbs. and if this arrow was secured as it may be, nothing could happend.. but you know... and today? She is wearing slip on eye, armor and is figting farther... Good girl, good warrior :O)...

@kolodej111 what would make me worry are the Spears. even if theY#re blunt the still are pointy. if it goes wrong, one could loose an eye(if not more).

I do this myself and the weapons are indeed quite blunt. Getting hit by a 'battle-safe' sword is like being hit with a steel bar. Sure it hurts, but it doesn't cut.
Also when fighting, at least in my group, you aim for non-vital body parts. Head and groin are off-limits, for example.

@DJsharp707 You would be surprised how safe this is. Everyone is careful not to deliver a blow that could actually hurt to an unarmoured area and as Kolodej said the weapons are completely blunt. To my knowledge nobody has been killed in reenactment recently although you will be hard pushed to find someone who has been doing it for more than a few years who hasn't been injured somehow.

@DJsharp707 The weapons are real indeed, but if you notice the weapons arent swinged in any "tecnical" or "professional" way, to be able to even cut your oponent it would talke time to even hit any part of his body, and to even hit you have to not swing it but you have to try to empale your oponent and as those swords are "shortswords" they dont have that kind of hability" and the spears are swinged carefully.

in the middle ages there were no uniforms... the units recognize themselves by crosses on their dresses and by the coloured circles on their helmets... but this battle was mix of all middle ages times because it was no reeanactment but only a fairy tale....

If somebody want to see it on real or even participate on this you can.. But you need to have qualified equipment to be admitted into the battle and rules are strict.. so i suggest for first year try to visit Czech republic to see the battle on real and choose to meet wit us to talk about it etc...

there are unwritten rules... everybody knows when is time to die... when somebody cut your throat or slash you in to the head, there is big probability that you could be dead in real.. Guys in full plates or heavy armor can resist more bites but you know .. if somebody don´t know the right level, other will teach him :O(... :O))

As a kid I used to LARP but now when Im a few years older Ive been looking for something a bit more hardcore. Ive seen fights from vyborg and I cant say I like what I saw. People got hurt real bad too... If I wanna hurt people I wouldent waste money on armor and a sword, then I would buy a gun.
But THIS video on the other hand show a more true picture of medevil reenactment I hope! :D It would b fun to go 100% too but as long as its done properly and with sane people..!

yes.. we fight safely than eastern fencers.. but sometime shit happens... you know.. if you want to try it, go with us on Libusin, but be prepared that you can be not allowed to concerned in battle because of your inventory, but we can communicate it before...

Ofc shit happens! Im very aware of that! Thats why I want to find safe events like Libusin where I can meet sane people who dont want to hurt anyone for real.
Speaking of inventory, do you happen to know where I could find good quality equipment? Before I make up my mind about going to Libusin I have to know what this would cost me.
What I belive I need is: Gambeson, helmet with faceguard, gauntlets, harness with shoulder plates, sword/short axe and shield(or hillebard/long axe)?

you can find it for example on the Libusin, every manufacturer from Bohemia will be there... helmet cca 80eur for good helmet (i recomand hat or cap) , maybe few plates150-250 eur, but not full and not necessary, only wool warshirt (we call it warkoč), leather boots (but with no ribbon on backward), and wool armor under plates, spear with ball on the end, maybe sword and little hand shield, wooden spoon, leather or wool bag and you will be excelent spearmen for start...

In this battle was only one with broken leg, but because he badly fall and they found him under big hill of corpses, sometimes some minor bleeding, but few horribles.. There is one girl which lost one eye thanks to shot from crossbow.. but she is going usually to the battles even now, but with ligature (or how to call it) or tie over eye and she fight like most man don´t know...

Hey, cool videos but some mistakes. When you move out, you need to move out much slower, step by step in a shield wall. The front ranks just hold the shields and let the guys behind you do the hacking over your heads at the enemy. Just hold shields, don't charge, your team will last longer. Also, when the front man falls, the rear man can lift him up and keep shoulder to should so none break through your line. You will be astonished how a 20 men shield wall kills 60 disorganized men easily.

70 kg armor? Lol man do You have any armor? The weight of a gull plate armor of medieval knight is up to 40kg. And running with in it isn't such a hard thing.

yes I have an armor and because I´m 7 feet high and have fullplate and i usually taking to the war axe, 2 swords, morning star and two handed sword i have 205 kg together... and if I weight 135 kg so my equipment weight 70 kg..
