  • This is what the game Driver is based on.

  • who cares, it was still a great car chase, drive around town for 10 minutes and see how many "duplicate" cars you find. get over yourself.

  • looks like la noire

  • also count how many times you see a white beetle and how many times you see a white lemans.

  • Many beetles

  • camera crew on pick-up truck 8:22

  • Firebird at 4:30

  • would be nice if the music was gone and we could just hear the cars.

  • @Polybun at least there isn't much in the way of dialogue

  • There's a white and orange car at :56 (passing) and then again at 1:06 (parked) and 2:09 (parked); doesn't the famous green beetle make it's first appearance parked at 1:26; green VW Van 3:26 and again at 4:13 and 4:52. A white beetle also pops up now and then, but they were pretty common.....

  • sorry, I was bored. green Falcon at 1:28 gone at 1:31, I think a white Lemans at 4:21, 4:29, 4:59. green Chevelle at 5:40, 6:04, 6:07 and 6:09. dark top Galaxie ( LTD?) at 6:04, 6:07, 6:42, and 9:42. light top galaxie at 6:10, 6:42, and 6:44 and it looks like Steeve passes a Pontiac Catalina at 6:21 with same coloring as the one at 8:33

  • The final is the best :D

  • isn't his mustang privatly owned now?

  • @interstategar They made up two identical Mustangs for the movie and pretty much trashed both of them.

  • I remember my father and his coworkers doing mechanic work on those cars at Speedometer Service.

  • Nah, that was Herbie in his first cameo.

  • at 4:22 white Firebird??? ALSO, it's fun to watch (and count) how many times the Dodge looses the same hubcaps...lol

  • just look for the car chase scene from the film "the burglars" (or le casse in french) with Belmondo to find out that you don't need muscle cars to shoot a great (even better than this) car chase

  • What if he was n a focus

  • green beetle number 2 & 3 got overtaken by both cars + you can see the charger reappear from behind the petrol station

  • Comment removed

  • King Mc Queen!!!

  • that gas station on army street and bryant at 0:55 looks like shit now compared to that.

  • 6:40 green beetle #6?

  • notice how in movies the guy driving the car is always steering like crazy, but the car is going perfectly straight.

  • McQueens double clutching, makes me think he was more used to a Kenworth

  • don't mind, it was the first - and by far the best- chase-scene in modern movie. And man, is it a thrill!

  • McQueen-Epitome of COOL!

  • dont forget the two tone GTO!

  • Film Editing In those days was Not very good. Try watching Adam-12 seasons 1-4.There is a Two tone White over brown Mustang that is in a Lot of sceens.

  • There is a VW they pass at least twice. Also, the Dodge is show with and without hubcaps on and off.

  • I think they were using the green Beetle to pick up the hubcaps. :p

  • Who the hell dislikes (5) this? Geeks

  • @kd8bud 5 people that drive a Prius.

  • You'll never see cool cars like that in San Francisco because they drive around in faggy smart cars now.

  • slug bug. slug bug. slug bug. slug bug. slug bug

  • Despite what any of you think, the Mustang was 68 Fastback, with a 289 3-speed transmission, they're were about 6-8 of them built, by Carrol Shelby, for the Movie, nothing more, nothing less, I know, because I've personally worked on a replica car, and have argued the point numerous times and won. I've saught after for years for the last 2 cars that were intact after the film, but all traces ended after 70 sometime.

  • Back when hot rods roamed the streets and actors did their own stunts.

  • Green Beetle #3 was supposed to be obviously the same car, no?

  • Big block American V-8 engines are very seductive. The revs just soothes your soul almost as good as rock n roll.

  • at 3:46 Camera gets wasted by Charger,,At 3:59 you will notice camera remains on sidewalk to the left.

  • i love the mustang but the charger would eat it for breakfast

  • @GIANTreed1 yeah, if it had a better driver.

  • dont you just love the mob ?

  • the blue wagon was twice at the start

  • wrecked it with the green beetle counts.

  • Vi há muitos anos e revi agora.....lindo...e ele era 1 louco tambem....e vi outros filmes com ele....1 homem lindo...e partiu cedo com 1 cancro bjs p todos

  • Let me see if I have this right, you are watching the best car chase ever, and you are counting Volkswagens ?

  • I really dont care how many hub caps came off the Charger or how many times they passed the green VW,still the best chase scene ever, why hasn,t Bullitt been redone ??

  • @gmack2202 because it can't be topped.

  • SURE, THE SAME VW BEETLE, BECAUSE IT IS THE SAME SCENE FROM DIFFERENT ANGLES.

  • Not to be a dick repeating the same "dislake-comments" but it looks like 4 people suffered the same fate as 9:36

  • Actually, Green Beetle sightings 2 & 3 look like pretty good continuity. Isn't the Charger passing it in the second sighting and the Mustang passing it in the third?

  • I have analyzed this chase scene for 30 years...you should know that the "duplicate" cars you point out, are simply the same vehicle at a particular point in time, viewed from multiple camera angles (with few exceptions). There are many other things about the chase scene other than just duplicate cars, such as the fact that they were shooting chain balls from the shotgun. Enjoyed watching the chase scene again though. I've probably seen it over a thousand times.

  • Yeah firebird 3 times and the green beetle 6 times....lol

  • The noise! god i love the mustang

  • MUSTANG, best car chase ever!!!

  • Imagine walking in to a showroom and saying i`ll have a new Charger in black with the 440 and 4 speed! It`s true you don`t know what you have got untill it`s gone.Thoughs were the days.

  • i love when the guy in the charger looks in the rear view and sees steve there

  • Its not duplicate cars. Its the same scene shot from different angles. No, not a GT40, a bored 302 with straight pipes. Now, the Charger was the problem, too much power for the Mustang to keep up with. They had to keep telling the driver to let the Ford catch up.

  • @mysticwalker2112 where did you hear that. After all these years. Both cars had pros and cons and were built up a bit for this hard driving. They were light with breakable unibodies. Mustang had a 390

  • Weiß jemand sämtliche Straßennamen wo gedreht wurde?????

  • Id take the charger over the mustang any day!

  • man cars of this era were such giant hunks of crap. Watching this scene you can really feel the weight and the terrible suspension.

  • @kalbahamut '68, '69 and '70 Dodge Chargers are extremely popular and sought after. As far as the suspension being terrible... you are full of it. This Charger used it's STOCK suspension and everything held up fine... thank you. In addition, to help keep these cars competitive.... the Dodge was handicapped with narrower G-78 tires instead of the standard G-70 and still done well. Enlighten me... give me a Japanese car HALF as popular from that era. YOU CAN"T. hahahaha

  • @label1877 hey dipshit, I hate Japanese cars. I'm not some ricer fag. I drive a Dodge Viper. and sure the Charger was a hell of a car for its era but the suspension still sucks. Have you driven any of these old muscle cars before? Did you just assume I like Japanese cars because a common defense of import fans is that they make up for their puny engines with superior handling? My Viper or any Corvette can beat any Jap car in a straightaway AND the slalom, I know that. Don't assume...

  • Is it true that they got the engine noise for the Mustang From a GT40?

  • thats a blown engine in the Ford bothe the car and the driver.

  • i don't not follow what with the cars , but the charger the hup cap it lose two but came back with all four.its still is a good movie.

  • That's it! The name of my new band is "Green Beetle #4" - Boy George

  • You don't even need to watch this, just listen, the noise says it all :)

  • I counted 17 VW Bugs in that scene, and that's counting the green one only once. :P

  • gto blue light and a chevelle malibu blue

  • Steve Mcqueen, Lee Marvin, Clint eastwood, Lee van cleef, ernest borgnine, Robert ryan, John wayne, Eli wallach, Bruce lee, Chuck norris, george kennedy in the picture defending 'the Alamo', now that would have been epic.

  • Did patrol cars exist then?

  • Did police exist then?

  • At 2:44 or so, the getaway car has a rear view mirror. At 4:12, it's gone. 5:13, it's back.6:41-gone. It's an exciting chase scene, but kind of pointless. They're chasing him, then he's chasing them. They went on a semi-deserted street where they could easily have gotten him,but they wait until they're on a FREAKIN' HIGHWAY before he even loads the shotgun! They want to KILL him, but they're running AWAY. WTF? And with the whole damn desert there, he runs them into an exploding gas station.

  • ...don't have time to look at the VWs in this film....too busy watching the Mustang, and Charger in action..lol.

  • Sounds like a Quin Martin production. (the soundtrack), gotta love those muscle cars back then. They would pull up and your whole chest cavity would vibrate. 102+ Octane of power.

  • These cars need posi rear ends lol

  • i see 3 times a white beetle or maybe was the green beetle painted

  • Wow that green beetle is one hell of a car i want one... pure pain in the #$@ haha

  • There was about 3 or 4 white ford thunder birds that you missed.

  • @Gater1337 there transam's you fucking dope

  • @b44manz Whoa there buddy, no need to attack me like that...

The first one appears at 1:57

  • Actually, the whole scene is nonsense because if the 2 guys were chasing him, once he appears behind they just had to stop when he is close and shoot him! Why would they try to run away? I never got it since the first time I watched this movie.

This town is plenty of green beetles, isn't it? hehe. I wonder if they took the pain to change plates numbers...

The taxi driver at 3.07 is typical. Anywhere in the word these guys are all a bunch of sob playing police and taking care of other ppl lives

  • I love how the music isnt over taking the chase, this one the best chase scenes ever

  • BEST CHASE SCENE EVERRRRRRRR!!!!!!! great vid btw

  • The white Firebird is seen 3 or 4 times...the same scene with the Beetle...I think a silver Cadillac is shown in the city (the driver horns his Caddy) and on the road, when Bullitt runs in the middle...the Galaxie cab is seen 3 times too, once is parked...

  • Comment removed

  • you missed the firebird maybe 3 times. haha still love this movie, one of my favorites, and im only 16 years old.

  • I had that type of Mustang and yes they were very fast and the only thing that they couldnt pass was a gas station.

Call me a fool (okay you are a fool)

    I sold it.

  • thunderbird 4 times? what ever :D god that sound is amazing !! love it :)

  • this kinda looks like a rally or something

  • There is a white '62 Ford Country sedan shown twice.

  • white beetle...douche

  • i want that shelby!!!

  • absolutely ..THE GREEN BEETLE was part of the experiance when this came out in the theater we were sure it was used by the production teem! camera car maybe for some of the rolling shots ..count all the bugs lol ..part of the fun

  • That guy the glasses doesn't even sweat or smile

  • This is cool... dated but classic cool

  • i think the green beetle 3, 4, and 5 are the same car

  • which one is faster in RL?

  • charger has more hp, mustang better on turns

  • @carcrazzy247 caught up to him pretty well lol

  • @tdealmont im sure he was downshifting and upshifting like you are supposed to do with a transmisson and the green bettle at the 5 minute ish was on the same hill

  • @tdealmont im sure he was downshifting and upshifting like you are supposed to do with a transmisson

  • unique et toujours haletant

  • Count the shifts. Who knew Ford made a Stang with a 20-speed tranny.

  • @tdelamont There are many, many details in the Bullitt chase scene that are completely nonlinear. We learned simply to enjoy it rather than picking apart every single detail.

  • dude you missed like 5 firebirds and a white charger and 2 mustang fastbacks. And you also missed a beetel i think

  • Excellent.

  • Good job. There sure are a few extra white Pontiacs in the chase, too quick in the scenes to tell if they were Firebirds.

  • you forgot the charger on fire at the end of the chase. a very sad part, but part of the chase.

  • That was fantastic! I love that movie. There are so many awesome cars there. I sometimes feel like I was born 30 years too late. What must it have been like to get a brand spankin' new '68 Mustang right off the showroom floor! Todays cars just don't even come close.

  • Winchester trench gun with a pistol grip.

  • No text!!!!

  • This car cost about 3900$ US brand new. Gas was about 35 cents a gallon at about 107 octane fully leaded. This was when AMerica was at its Zenith with no bullshit regulations. This was when America Was America. Ford 390 cubic inches at about 9 miles to the gallon. the video dont lie. RH DSD

  • @DIOSpeedDemon Agree. Good old times, but that couldn't possibly last forever. This kind of consumption would exhaust all the earth's resources pretty soon. Today a Range Rover consumes about the same though....

  • Even beyond the car chase scene, I can't recall an actor making a movie so great by using his lack of dialogue, facial expressions, body movements, as well as the way he walked, from the opening scene to the last, as he looks at himself in the mirror.

Just check out the trailer's here.

Of course it helps when your production company is involved and McQueen picked Peter Yates to direct.

BTW, the stunt driver here is the same one who eluded Roy Schrider in "The Seven Ups."

    Peace.

    Rock

  • I didn't know the the the 68 charger came with 13 hubcaps. great car.

  • i am a villain, therefore i drive a '68 Charger

  • you overlooked 4 firebirds before #2! ;-)

  • makes me want to go for a drive!

  • 6:41 theres another green bug! :)

  • sound like wille cat.........rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • lousy hitmen.....shouda nailed mcqueen.....lol.

  • When the stunt drivers got the Chargers and Mustangs, they tested them down in L.A., in the hills near Dodger Stadium, and they stated that the Charger ran rings around the Mustang. And that was with stock cars, handicapped with the skinniest wheels they could find.

  • love the double clutching

  • this is so epic!!!

  • theres an orange/white 2door belair that is shown a few times and also a bunch of white vw bugs

  • omg i like the V8 Sound i hope that i can restaurate my 67 ;) hes still standing in my garage -.-^^

  • the driver of the car......actually drove in this chase. so he and mcqueen would practice by driving around a track and touching hands to get comfortable with driving so close......

  • The guys in the Charger just look like such badguys haha.

  • good film but it's a shame about the silly yank cars. he was much better in le mans.

  • it would be a nice clip if some jerk off didnt put text in the video!!!

  • @plenum1138 You don't like it, turn them off.

  • Sweet I didn't even notice that, Thanks.

  • @imstillstuckinthe80s Sweet I didn't even notice that, Thanks

  • @imstillstuckinthe80s The ford had 4:11 gears with a nine inch ford locker rear end, Double Clutch all the gears , Four Speed.

  • @imstillstuckinthe80s All soundproofing was taken off the mustang engine interior to make the motor sound badder. this is a pretty tame motor for 1968. A Hemi 426 had 700 hp. right off the showroom floor at this time.

  • @imstillstuckinthe80s what kind of car was steve driving? was it a mustang?

  • @Chrisrawrr21 1967 Fastback Mustang

  • @Chrisrawrr21 It is a 1968 fastback Mustang :)

  • @plenum1138 ya that feature ever sense it came out has ruined videos for me ill look for a video and find ones with text and crap all in it and have to search for another half dozen before i fidn one that's not all covered with texts.

  • @plenum1138 Hitmans car has a stock 383 cubic inch mill.

  • @plenum1138 LOL

  • Always a great chase scene to watch!!!!

  • did you see the 2 little dushounds at the start and spit the dog run over at the end

  • Check out how many VW beetle was in the car chase you can count the camper but not the green one 3 times

  • your can ear mcqween power shift cool

  • great music for this scene, however you have to love the end when he ran under and around pan am jets at sfo doing his own stunts...

  • yea you left out a couple of white trans am's

    two i think

one at 4:22, one at 4:59

  • Great Video,,,,I had only spotted the Green Beatle........but that motorcycle was driven and skidded by Steve McQueen....I have won many bet on that fact......annonate that if you like.........Steve was the best........

  • Glass Pack mufflers on R/ T Charger I love it!!Mustang Fast back old School with a capital O Hey Now!@!!

  • that hill is awesome since they made it a 2 lane.

at night its rely sketch cuz not many people drive it at night.

note to self: landcruisers at 70+ on that hill are a bit sketchy.

  • burnout at 3:58 was a beast

  • All I saw was a green Mustang!

  • There are a couple white beetles in the city that you missed. Great video man, thanks.

  • I could have an orgasm just listening to this video. I LOVE the way a big block engine sounds. <3

  • shiiit <3

  • Vanashing point or Bullitt?

  • I love how the mustang will only spin posi in reverse. Thats what happens when u burn the clutches in the rear end.

    GOOD OL' FORD FOR YA!!!

  • Kinda hard to tell but I think that green beetle number 2 might actually be at 3:22..second car parked on the right...hard to judge the color in the shadow though.

  • I personally like the mach 1 and the bosses but this car is still amazing

  • u have amazing powers OF OBSERVATION

  • is this movie worth 2 buy and watch 100 times?

  • @matthewinnj08 Yes!

  • If your really a chase scene fan, you'll recognize the driver of the charger from another equally cool chase scene from the movie ''the seven-ups''.......

  • chargers are cool dont get me wrong but if they were gonna go the chrysler route i think a hemi-cuda would have been rly cool for a matchup with the mustang

  • 6:30

    An older David Gilmour?

  • Looks like someone has mowed the lawn since then, blogward,

  • Whoever that geezer is - with the black gloves and the glasses - he's famous for being in this scene. And the other bloke in the car.

  • your wrong guy he was a stunt driver in the 60s and 70s. he done alot of car chase sceens. and what he is most famous for is james dean died in his arms after his head on car crash. and his name is bill hickman. not tring to be a hard ass jus droppin a lil info

  • This movie makes me think about a video game that I used to play on Playstation a long time ago. Thanks for posting this stillstuckinthe80s!

  • I think you are talking about the Playstation game called 'Driver'. Am I right?
