I am from India and the tonight show is broadcasted here every night. We all love Jay Leno and when conan came around, we all stopped watching the show because it just sucked... We wondered what was NBC smoking while hiring Conan, because his late night show doesn't come on our TV and it was the first time we saw him.

His interaction with guests is based on being sly and unassuming at the same time, all the while trying to get the laugh from the audience, and to not piss off the guest. That's a balancing act, and a formula that makes for great TV. Jay can barely read his Cue-Cards, and unless it's some good looking guy on the panel he has to keep touching, he doesn't relate to his guests in any real way.

When Letterman cheated on his wife with one of his employees, Leno did one comment on his show. Now with this whole NBC fiasko, Letterman does like 20 comments, and Jay hasn't really done anything "immoral" he just kicked everyones ass in ratings. Letterman is just a sore loser, and this is really low of him.

Actually I don't really care for Leno. I think that Conan is the funniest. I just find the whole situation extremely stupid. I agree that NBC sucks. They already proved that long ago during the Leno/Letterman beef. My issue with Letterman is that his criticism is neither funny nor creative. Who is he to criticize someone else's character? I found this clip to be pathetic at best. It would be something if it was creative but it isn't. It just shows what a bitter old man he is.
Without Dave there would be no Conan or Leno. Letterman is a pioneer. I agree that some of his skits over the last 10 or so years have been weak, especially if you compared the humor to his old NBC show. The anger in this feud is real. That is what makes it enjoyable to watch. A lot of folks never have understood Dave and his bitterness. For me I have never understood how people liked Jay. To me he has always been a phony.
What I don't understand is that, why is he still bitter, or better still, why bitter at all ? Hasn't he enjoyed enough success, received accolades , awards, and made a ton of money. And if that's not enough, he even fucked some of his employees. What more does he want ? Most people don't even get 1% of what he has.
If , after all this, he is still bitter, then God will never forgive him.
Letterman's humor has always had a touch of bitterness to it. Over the years Dave has change. Almost dying of a heart attack and having a son have made him more mellow and laid back. I have watched him most of my life and seeing this sorta bite is amusing on many levels. The man never mentioned Jay's name during any of his shows. You have to remember that Carson wanted Dave to replace him at the Tonight Show. Dave is just having fun with all of the parties involved.
Well I'm an East Coast guy myself. It might just be an age thing. To me, Conan has been much funnier than either Jay or Dave over the last decade. I get that Dave's anger is real, as it should be because Jay stole the Tonight Show from him, but this skit was more stupid than funny and it made him look like a douchebag. In the end it will all work out anyways, Jay can do his thing on NBC, Dave can poke fun at him from CBS, and Conan will get a show on FOX and also rail against NBC.

I think he was exaggerating about the 'don't blame Conan bit'. He was defending himself against Conan. Why chose sides anyway? Conan quit. Conan can go across the street. Conan only quit because they were moving his show time back to make room for Leno to come on before him in his original time slot. Conan was upset they were screwing him so he told em to shove it and quit.

How in the world does satire escape your comprehension? It's one of the basic forms of protest a writer can stage. In this case, Letterman and his writers are "staging a protest" on behalf of Conan AND Native Americans. Or at least the acknowledgment of the plight of the latter.

Jay "Lowbrow" Leno was losing in the ratings for the first 2 years of hosting.
But, it makes perfect sense that Leno ultimately got better ratings. Most people are dumb, he's just pandering to his base.
If you take away the skit about the newspaper ads and misprints (stolen from Dave) all you have left are the knock knock-like jokes & a game show that makes fun of morons to make his already below average audience feel smart.
Leno fans don't get it and we like it that way.

When Letterman cheated on his wife with one of his employees, Leno did one comment on his show. Now with this whole NBC fiasko, Letterman does like 20 comments, and Jay hasn't really done anything "immoral" he just kicked everyones ass in ratings. Letterman is just a sore loser, and this is really low of him.

Actually I don't really care for Leno. I think that Conan is the funniest. I just find the whole situation extremely stupid. I agree that NBC sucks. They already proved that long ago during the Leno/Letterman beef. My issue with Letterman is that his criticism is neither funny nor creative. Who is he to criticize someone else's character? I found this clip to be pathetic at best. It would be something if it was creative but it isn't. It just shows what a bitter old man he is.

Without Dave there would be no Conan or Leno. Letterman is a pioneer. I agree that some of his skits over the last 10 or so years have been weak, especially if you compared the humor to his old NBC show. The anger in this feud is real. That is what makes it enjoyable to watch. A lot of folks never have understood Dave and his bitterness. For me I have never understood how people liked Jay. To me he has always been a phony.

What I don't understand is that, why is he still bitter, or better still, why bitter at all ? Hasn't he enjoyed enough success, received accolades , awards, and made a ton of money. And if that's not enough, he even fucked some of his employees. What more does he want ? Most people don't even get 1% of what he has.

Letterman's humor has always had a touch of bitterness to it. Over the years Dave has change. Almost dying of a heart attack and having a son have made him more mellow and laid back. I have watched him most of my life and seeing this sorta bite is amusing on many levels. The man never mentioned Jay's name during any of his shows. You have to remember that Carson wanted Dave to replace him at the Tonight Show. Dave is just having fun with all of the parties involved.

Well I'm an East Coast guy myself. It might just be an age thing. To me, Conan has been much funnier than either Jay or Dave over the last decade. I get that Dave's anger is real, as it should be because Jay stole the Tonight Show from him, but this skit was more stupid than funny and it made him look like a douchebag. In the end it will all work out anyways, Jay can do his thing on NBC, Dave can poke fun at him from CBS, and Conan will get a show on FOX and also rail against NBC.
