  • Whew. Lot of hate here considering these people are just having fun and learning by doing. I liked this video.

  • looks like the main is cleated isn't it?

  • The real value of this film is the amazing level of idiocy, snide remarks, and just plain prick-ism from the spectators.

  • any time you like mate, everyones got to the bottom mark by now.

  • Can't his so-called buddies lend a hand?

  • i cracked my head on a RS 200 boom when i tried to bring that upright, fooking hurt the next morning lol

  • Niceeeee!

  • release the sheet first?.. and I wanna smack that guy with the midget idea, what a tool

  • you gotta jump to the high side right away to counterbalance the weight... don't worry about bringing it into irons or anything... especially in low wind. i used to capsize 420s all the time. i could do the walkover and right the boat in about 30 seconds probably and all i did was get on the centerboard, bring it up, and make sure i was in the right place when it came back up

  • never bounce on the daggerboard to right it

  • My friend and I turtle our boat. We had a l'equipe. I swam around as my friend made it come up. But when I was half way around, he got it up and it started sailing away and then it turtled again after sailing a few metres away. It was annoying but funny.

  • lol he held the boom when he righted it the first time

  • I cant tell, is that a 4.7?

  • we were all a noob once. funny as heck though. i love how the other boat just cruises by.

  • i snapped my dagerboard like that once

  • @tommymxr Lol that sucks, were you standing at the edge or something?

  • it would be funny if he snapped his cente bord flipping it lol =)

  • no wonder why he went straight over! he was sheeted in block to block, and he was jumping on the daggerboard! muppet, lol.

but judging by the language you were using, u lot knew what u were doing.

  • There much more tyes of lasers f.ex. Laser5000 or Laser2000, Laser4000 and Laser Pico

  • this is a normal laser but there is a boat called laser2.

it is sailed by 2 persons and its much bigger then that.

  • what kind of boat was that? a mirror?

  • @V19torrent pretty obviously a laser

  • oh well sorry.... the club i go to doesnt have this type of laser.

  • theres only one type of laser

  • Well i beg to challenge that. Theres also a laser pico, and a newer version of the laser in this video.

  • @V19torrent every laser has the same hull. nice try though

  • The best capsize ever or just a capsize?

Not a pitchpole at speed or anything just a learner in a crap boat!

  • ti asxetos einai autos :S

  • But lasers are shit

  • Not all Lasers. Only those with bad sailers

  • dude you need to learn how to not deathrole push the front of the boat into irons then bring it up dumbass....

  • @mctimilsworth it was hardly a death roll and pushing the boat into irons takes up time

  • @mctimilsworth I think he's trying to do it on purpose. Or just really sucks.

  • @DrummerInTheCity1091 youre prob right... but i think its the later

  • @mctimilsworth Thats not what a deathrole is

  • @pgihockey13 learn how to spell death roll...and then you can tell people *what* it is :-P

  • @vibratingstring It wont let me post the video. But its called sailing and its 6 minutes long.

    :

  • @pgihockey13 OK.

Hey I was basically razzing you for your spelling. BTW death rolls aren't specifically windward capsize. Rather, it is Karman excitation oscillation leading to uncontrolled rolling due to inadequate damping. You can end up in the drink to either side but windward is more common. This may be simply because we tend to sit to "windward" even on dead runs, or it is because of aerodynamic asymmetry during the roll (sails max camber not at centerline)

  • @vibratingstring Ok even if that what a death roll is where in the video is he doing that. And capsizing to leeward is way more common then to windward. This is what a death roll is: a death roll is the act of broaching to windward, putting the spinnaker pole into the water and causing a crash-gybe of the boom and mainsail, which sweep across the deck and plunge down into the water. And the camber is never at centerline, so that has nothing to do with it.

  • @pgihockey13

    No.

You are confusing mere broaching with death rolling. Not the same thing. Learn your terminology. You can broach without ever death rolling, and you can recover from a death roll before actually broaching.

On a laser, death rolling often starts in moderate to stiff wind (greater than 15 knots) when on a near dead run, boom all the way out, but vang too loose. When the the vortex street forms, if it happens to have the same frequency as the natural roll period, you death roll

  • @vibratingstring You have no idea what your talking about, a death roll has nothing to do with oscillation, and is a windward capsize. And there is no vortex street that has the same frequency as the "natural roll".

  • @pgihockey13 Be careful who you say "yYou have no idea what your talking about" to!

Do you even know what a vortex street is? Do you know what resonance is? You contradict yourself. A post back you said leeward capsize. "death roll" was being used as a term long before you were born. A 'death roll' can only happen when it is windy and you are running. It is uncontrollable rolling due to aerodynamically excited resonance. Windward capsize is merely "windward capsize." Get your terms right!

  • @vibratingstring Your so stupid kid, Id argue with you more but you play the damn violin and your name is vibratingstrings so I feel kind of bad shittin on a faggot

  • @pgihockey13

You know what they say about people who call other people faggots. Haha I bet you have a flap in the back of your sailing bibs.

  • @vibratingstring you no what they say about kids that call life jackets bibs...

  • @holycockpit1 Haha between you and the other guy, there is proof that the English language is doomed...

  • @mctimilsworth haa what a rookie

  • Ruined by Americans jibbering on and the crap sailing and the fact that Lasers are shit

  • u talk to your mother with that mouth?

  • anger problems?

  • the main sheets were never released so he basically was flattening a boat that started to sail when he got up

  • release you're main sheets first. and move quicker to the winward side ;)

  • hes not very good at sailing.

  • Somebody should make sure the mainsheet isn't caught up before they try and right the boat.

  • get a proper boat like a tornadow

  • jajajajajajajajja

  • stupid americans

  • Nice video but I find the word "midget" offensive. With all due respect we prefer to be called "little people".

  • "Offensive" that's kind of a big word for you isn't it?

  • sllllllack

  • LOL!!! thats bad :P

  • I met him in rehab
