Nice clean secondary air door operation! The carburetor looks to be very well tuned. You have "sac" as is sounds like the pull was to around 6200 or so. Where does the power curve fall off?
i had a lucerne blue & white stripe 72 TA. rebuilt 455 with headwork, cam, & headers. Turbo 400 with shift-kit. when i was 20 yrs old. I paid 1500$ in 1990 turn-key. its a beast.
i would love to get a trans am with the 455 ho but also how much vacuum do these things pull when you shut the valves while its at high rpm? i would imagine a lot of vacuum. i want a rochester on my boats 351w! it only has a 600cfm holley on it and i wanna put a 800 cfm Rochester on it hehe :)
Love the Open Throat Growl of teh Old School 4 Bbl's. I had several Corvettes with Q-jets, one fondly an L-82 with aluminum heads. That baby would growl loud! I also had a few Old Mopar Big Blocks with the 440 Police Interceptors, my God would those Carter Thermo-Quads roar! Check out my International Scout II 345 V8 with 4bbl TQ roaring :)
@ChuckTruck78 Even stock Chevy 307's roar with a Q-jet. I had a 67 Impala with a transplanted 307 and 2GC. Even that little 2 bbl would make that Whooooom when getting on it but when I switched the manifold and carb to a Q-jet it was WhooooomX10! That roar was louder than the no-name glasspacks.
@greeniron32 Even the 2 barrel 2GC makes that sound IF you're using a chrome air filter or turn the stock air filter lid upside down. Put the air filter back to the stock setup and all you hear is a muted moan.
@Nivicoman When I turned 16 the family truckster was a 79 olsmobile 98 with a 403,full air cleaner sounded just like this, nothing beats the quadrajet moan

I LOVE IT!!--> Someone made a video of the 'quadrajet carburetor sound' (1960s/70s) I was SO USED TO hearing (and that my parents hated!) in high school from my Olds 403v8 wagon, and later my Grand Prix's 400/455v8s.
The intent was to load the engine smoothly on each pull to prevent any irregular dyno numbers at low speed. You can clearly see the rate at which we open the throttle. There's absolutely no shortage of throttle response with this car otherwise. Look at the other videos of it.

Any one who has owned a GM car with a 4 Barrel carb knows that sound.

what is the initial timing on that? seems it should be a bit more responsive??
