i'm shocked .. you have to be an engineer with special equipment just to change the f... battery .. what idiots buy an Iphone !!! changing battery on my HTC takes 5 seconds .. i think .. 'cause i never had a need for changing it :-)
for those who have a problem of restore loop, its not a software issue but rather its a hardware issue. i had the same problem and i have tried everything on the net and nothing worked. then i opened my iphone3gs back and re-installed cable cables1,2 and 3. the problem was in cable3, it was not installed properly.
note: you need to lift up that white thingy for cable 3 to be installed properly. i did not know how open cable3 and i broke(black part) it, but luckily it still works
Putting it together is definetly the hardest part of the process. The camera was a big pain. trying to get it to sit right. then that little piece of metal that the screw goes through kept falling off so i turned the video on to see how it was supposed to go back on but they sped up the video on that part. Thankfully I got it back together and it worked. I dont understand why apple would make it so difficult to change a battery.
WTF ??? do you have to go trough all this just to change a freaking mobile phone battery. Thanks for the video making things clear, man that is the most stupidest mobile construction I ever seen, you have to use tools to change a freaking mobile battery WTF ??? It's a joke to call Iphone for a smartphone
wow I love this video, BUT the screen text covers the operation and leaves a person to guess how remove the 5 and 6 connectors... didnt anyone else see ?
Dropped the damn thing in the washing maching and used this to take the iPhone apart to dry it out. Once it turned back on I used one of these demos to replace the screen...now 2 months later here I am switching batteries and the iPhone is almost brand new, one piece at a time
I got bad news for me I broken the 2 pins on the number 3 sticker, it was hard too connect the number 3 sticker so I didnt reconnect the number 3 ribbon and put back the covering and turn it on everything works includeding wifi and 3g, and the backlight works too, so I dont know what that ribbon number 3 is for, so I left that unconnected,
well i did excatly everything as it is explained in this video. But the only thing i got .. is the apple ... and then a black screen.. in addition it only shows up, when the iphone is connected to the powercable. without anything... it doesn'T do anything... any idea?? is something broken ??? - err help? :D
Fantastic video! Easy to use. Helped me get my battery installed and with ease. It was not as delicate a process as I anticipated and I paid very close attention to the disassembly so that I knew exactly how to put it back together. I had to shut down all distractions.
thanks, for the video. i have managed to change the battery, but now when i make a call the person on the phone that i am calling can hear me but i cant hear them, do you have any clue why this may be happening
Took awhile, but it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Good luck on anyone attempting this. And don't be afraid to be a little hard on some of the equipment, they're relatively well protected. Thanks for the vid!
Couldn't Apple make it as easy as the 1st generation phones to change the battery?
Nope, either you are brave enough to do it yourself with a high chance of breaking something if you are not an expert (so apple makes extra bucks from reapiring it) or send it to apple store to replace battery (more bucks for apple).
This is by far the best instructional for replacing the battery. Hands down. But c'mon man, why'd you abandon us at the end? It took me about half an hour trying to get the #3 connector back on because I had no idea how that thing worked. Finally got it though and without your vid it wouldn't have been possible. Thanks!
Excellent stuff, helped me replace my battery after my phone fell in my pint haha! Apple warrenty wont touch water damage and they wanted £140 to fix it?!?! between this video and a battery a got for a tenner my phone is now working fine (despite spots all over the screen). My only comment would be that refitting circuit board is fiddly and needs patience. as do the connectors - dont lose screws, put them n blue tac while u work
Hardest part i found was removing the 8 screws, none of my screwrivers had a proper fit. But got it done in a little while.
Putting it back together is easy, once the motherbored is back in and screwed down, place the screen at the top and slide it downwards while using a small flat head to push number 3 connector in. Once that's done then push back on 2 and 1 and then push the screen down. Easy
Just replaced mine with a battery with twice the capacity of the standard one,1500MAH to 3000MAH
Really helped me, but the toughest part is not shown in the video. The Re-Assembly. It really took me long time to figure out how to replace the camera back into uts hub. Phew finally did it. It works.
very helpfull ! I just replaced battery on my 3G , just one point you doing wrong - when you taking of screen you have to use a Suction Cup its mutch better then plastic tool
i followed all of these directions and disconnected all of the stuff and when i was removing the screws, one of the screw wasn't coming off, i got the small screw driver with the battery so i used that so many times and used some other ones but it didn't work. that screw is freaking stuck like a glue and rest of them came off. i just left it there cuz i didn't wanna break anything when trying to open it. i put everything back and it turned on. to bad i could've put the new battery in.
Just did this on my 1 day old 3G-S. I needed to get under the battery to place a Memon harmonizer chip, as the casing seems to have a sheet of aluminium in it. All was the same as the video except for an extra connector marked "7" where the label-covered screw was. Note that the lithium ion battery is very soft and will bend/dent easily from a screwdriver's prying as shown in the video. I had to use a credit card to pry out the battery effectively.
This gullible pseudo-scientist fears his testicles are being mutated by EMF. His chip brings harmony to his testicles. They will buy anything you convince them to, great for the economy!
This is a great video, with excellent details, another I watched only said 7 screws, not 8, and showed disconnecting the camera lense, not removing it as here.
And this video also shows most of the re-assembly too.
I wonder what Mah the new battery is? What sort of life will it provide?
I'm not a video expert but why would you cover the area that you're working on with the Step 3 title? Makes it very hard to get a clear shot. Otherwise, a very informative video. Thanks!
i agree. it was annoying as all hell. one of the trickier parts you have to remember is covered by the instruction banner yet at the top of the video is just dead unused space...
