It seems like there are only 2 kinds of music where it is universally liked.
Bach and Stevie Wonder. It doesn't matter if you are a rapper, a heavy metal rocker, a pop artist, or a turntablist - everyone agrees that these 2 musicians gets mad respect.
@pan02286 I'm 99% sure it's Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina's Gloria from either the "Missa Papae Marcelli" or the "Missa Benedicta Es." I think it's the first one, but they're very similar at the beginning (you'll see what I mean if you search both).
@micheldvorsky Yes, I noticed that too. Isn't it unfair, when some people are extremely talented, and good looking as well? If you are incredibly good at something, you could at least have the decency to be ugly, to make up for it....
@melman74b Where did you (and perhaps some of the people that gave you thumbs up) get the idea that castrati (not "castratos") were used to perform church in Germany in Bach's era? The boys that sang in the church were trained in Latin schools. The St. Thomas school where Bach was cantor and where his sons studied was one on several Latin schools in Germany. Bach himself was a trained a Latin school, where he sang soprano.
Excellent documentary...so very well presented. I very much like how the film maker shot this film. I was also impressed with the video and audio quality. Thanks for this post. 5 stars and saved to favorites.

Bach The greatest composer that ever live. What Mozart said about him is true to this day. "Bach is the father of all music, we are his children.

I didn't find that a very authentic rendering by the 16 - with women!

Well, it's probably hard to find castratos and/or boys today willing or able to perform professionally full-time in a group like that.

These particular ladies aren't that bad on the eyes, either. :)

It is incredible how a man of such divine talent like J.S. Bach gave his life to the church like this.
