Two absolute legends.. A genuine fast bowler screaming in with raw pace and a tough-as-nails fighter showing the grit to hang on!!! Give us back those days!!!
Also, this is why I respect Steve... He didn't mind looking ugly in his technique but never failed to fight it out against any type of bowling... It's all about the runs, not how you get them... Wish some of today's batsmen are watching!!!
god waugh was tough. i always felt a few of the aussie legends like hayden etc got a few too many of their runs against weaker bowling attacks on flat pitches, but waugh gutsed out a heap of runs in difficult conditions against some of the fiercest bowlers the game has ever seen.
@mkeysou812 he also improved his average as he fell down the order and became more ugly as a batsman. At number 6 , he had a lot of not outs! Mark, his twin brother, much more elegant and capable technically, had a shorter career . Steve's mental toughness was the thing
@mistersmith6000 Very true..Steve had the patience to cop the bowlers stick. Mark would lose it and go after them thereby giving his wicket away whilst playing one-day slogs. If there was one thing Steve knew, it was you would never get him out with bouncers. Steve had the stickability about him getting is tonnes in more balls than Mark, which would tire out the bowlers. I think it was a good reason why Gilchrist, Warne and Lee got easy runs. This applies more to the latter two.
@mkeysou812 Hence why he is definately in the top 5 Australian batsmen of all time, he was brilliant when champion players like Haydos and Punter would struggle
thats why they call it test cricket i guess - 2 absolute champions in combat - 3 -32 - a big period in the match - wouldn't have anyone else at the wicket !!
Really Steve Waugh has shown his calm and composure in the most difficult times, that's why he is called the "Ice Man",

I am pakistani and i have the utmost respect for Waugh (it probably has to do with how his team beat Pak into a pulp).
Great fighter.
Allan was great too, high respects for him.

Donald generally liked to have a word or two with the batsman, but nobody in his right mind would want to have a go at Steve Waugh

@kgururaj what are you on about? Any bowler worth his salt would relish an opportunity to go toe to toe with a great like him.
