I went most of the song thinking "well this is fairly good but I don't see what all the fuzz is about." Then... Holy motherfucking shitballs, that was... powerful.
A lot of the soundtrack to the game Heavy Rain (try Lauren Winter's Main Theme, or Redemption, or Last Breath) and also Indigo Prophecy has dark, ambient elements like this. You might also consider listening to some Silent Hill OST songs such as "Red Pyramids" or "True" from SH2.
@H2Zman haha no! This is what gothic metal has evolved into and above all, this is closer linked to that darkness we want to feel within our soul than some guy playing a guitar.
@H2Zman Actually I think a lot of metalheads know Elend (like me too BTW). Not sure why though, maybe because first album was released on metal label, maybe because guys from Elend besides other stuff listen to heavy music too (I remember someone of them mentioning Dillinger Escape Plan in one of the interviews). Or maybe because Elend is about musical intensity and "sonic violence", which a lot of metal is "about" too.

A beautiful symphony. It reminds me to never forget, who I am and what I was trying to displace.

This made me reunite with my stronger self, in some way, and it also made me cry for my fears...odd.

@indiglogrey Thanks! I've never played Heavy Rain or Silent Hill.
The piece for the main theme of Heavy Rain is sweet though.

Is it strange that I go from Testament, Deathchain, Decrepit Birth, and Dark Funeral to this?

@H2Zman ha nah only cuz this song is so epic....

@H2Zman This is darker than any black metal song imo. If the road to perdition had a soundtrack, it would be this song on repeat.

@ArchSaur Elend is easily as intense as Dark Funeral or Gorgoroth, in a much darker way.
