Um, no, actually Duncan Hunter was the only honest man on the stage there, when he said that realistically, you cannot promise no new taxes. He's right, there may always (and usually is) a reason for a new tax. Anyone who says different, and promises/swears "No New Taxes" is lying...
No Duncan Hunter is lying, Ron Paul is the only one willing to cut the amount of spending hes promising so he wouldnt need to write up any new taxes now if congress makes one and overides rp's veto thats different
Bin Laden is not named as the perpetrator of 9/11 by the FBI:
When asked why there is no mention of 9/11 on Bin Laden's Most Wanted web page [Rex Tomb, Chief of Investigative Publicity for the FBI] said, "The reason why 9/11 is not mentioned on Usama Bin Laden's Most Wanted page is because the FBI has no hard evidence connecting Bin Laden to 9/11."
"Out of favor with the Republican base, McCain has slowly tried to reinvent himself as a taxpayer friendly Senator and has scored a 90 percent in the past two years." - ATR
McCain voted no on 6 tax cuts including the two big votes - final passage of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts.
Ron is right here (and I'm no RP fan) - you cam cut all federal taxes - the locals will just make up for it - if they spend, they need revenue. So... Spend only on things that will improve our country, or increase our productivity. Long term gain is the answer. Fix the forclosures - fix the predatory lending - fix the hidden unemployment - fix the lower class home first ... when they have money, they will spend it in our stores and shops!
Whoever tells the truth and decides to take some responsibility for making this a BETTER place for the next generation - and the one after that. Unfortunately I haven't seen that candidate yet, so I will be forced to pick from whatever leftovers the rest of you choose FOR ME in the primaries. Sad.
Why dont you stop acting like a victim and do some research. Oh maby you dont like ron paul because he wants to get out of Iraq... You should do some research on how wars lead to inflation, leads to poverty at home and profit for special interests and the military industrial complex. Dont be a victim, vote in the primary. I dont care if you vote for ron paul vote for my future and the hope i wont have to die in a commune
C: All of the things you say about RP are the positives - I am also looking at the negatives - If these things were the only concerns, he would have my vote. RP supporters are starting to sound like amateur AMWAY salesmen - highlighting a few positive points and ignoring the rest. Nice that you're interested, but open your mind enough to be supportive AND critical.
One reason I LIKE RP is because he wants out. I could show you some really cool things about economics that would make you question the "free Market" because it ALWAYS leads to corporate capitalism. Yes - I AM a victim - of uneducated voters and a poor selection of candidates. Good to know your worst fear is dying in a commune!!! You must be missing out on what the rest of us fear.
I know it sounds nice to be able to regulate corporations but its not realistic. This could only happen if every elected official was 100% honest. The free market with its few faults is the safest way. Otherwise big governemt just gets bigger. Its just like the arguement for policing the world. It sounds nice if we had honest people to decide where to help but its driven by special interests.
btw i didnt mean to sound selfish what i meant was i just turned 18 and you people have had a trend in voting for horrible leaders and its not my fault i will have to work till i die to stay alive
JUST FREE THE NESARA-MONEY(trillions and trillions)...every fuckin problem in the world would be solved, but NO!!..they just pretend to change things, cause a few people "earn" their asses off
its funny how the american people always bring this question up. How will you cut taxes? America is a country where you don't pay for anything already and you get nothing. The taxes should be raised if anything. there needs to be more public social groups. The number one being public health care.
You are not a conservative, dont tell conservatives your liberal agenda. How high is your senator's sallery? how much money are we wasting on lying contractors rebuilding iraq? How much does the government subsidize foreign countries when our own is in ruins? If your choice is Hillary...benoit yorself
There is a reason income taxes were not allowed in Constitution until the 16th Amendment. Its amazing how we lasted until 1913 with the American people receiving their whole paychecks.
how would you pledge to never raise taxes? even if you do cut government spending, you still cant pledge to something like that. there are emergencies congressmen hunter has the best answer
they all espouse the same half-truths, like dr. paul said they dont raise taxes but they also do not and will not cut spending. why? because, they are funded by shady entites and dr.paul is funded by the people. and taxes are the peoples money.
A good president can never answer this question, you never know what might happen, sometimes you have to raise taxes in order to prevail a country from downfall....
Questions like this are typical for Americans by the way too... it's one big "tell the American public what they want to hear" "debate".... This isn't a debate. In my country debates are about real political aspects and not about giving a show....
If you believe what any of these morons, save Ron Paul of course, is saying you are a brainwashed idiot. Wake up, don't fall for it anymore. Even Alan Greenspan said that Bill Clinton was more fiscally conservative than Bush. HAHAHAHAHA. If you vote for anyone besides Ron Paul, you deserve higher taxes.
I agree, If you don't vote for Ron Paul you deserve to have your wealth redistributed to those who did... let us fight fire with fire... May those who do not vote for Dr. Paul be taxed for it (this is sarcasm, I am a staunch Capitalist)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The first ones were dumb. An absolute pledge to never raise taxes is stupid, and it's that very thing that's allowed such a national debt, more even than increased spending.
Thompson, McCain, and Hunter all had sensible answers, but you'll notice Ron Paul didn't answer yes or no, and instead went on a red herring.
I wonder if Ron Paul's butt hurts from sitting on the fence so much.
I'm 22 years old. Live in Washington State (%8.9 Sale tax). I live with my divorced parents. I've been working in the resturant business since i was 15. I really hope they cut sales tax too...
Uh, sales taxes are up to YOUR state. The president or anyone in DC can't do anything about your state's sales tax. Make sure you vote for a real conservative Governor during your state's next election.
maybe to you but to the majority of us they were not. Huckabee is just another liberal and if I wanted our country to go this direction I would vote Democrat. Thompson is a great actor but just an average politician with not enough support to get him in the white house. Maybe you should just change parties and vote Hillary and Obama in 08' then you could quite lying to yourself about how you really want in office
I want to see them pledge to stop giving large and unnecessary tax breaks to the wealthy and start giving tax breaks to the middle class and those in poverty.
It would be nice if someone asked them what they are going to do about the economies being manipulated in the U.S.
Why did Texas have in 2001 like 5 companies on the Fortune 500, and in 2005 they had the top 50 Fortune 500 companies in their state. ITS CALLED MANIPULATION OF ECONOMIES.
I COMPLETELY agree with you. liberal vs conservative views of what to do are just tools to use when in office. I do not support candidates that don't recognize that. The whole world could change in a couple weeks and open up the use of any tool.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Oh. Ron Paul wackos can spam every god damned single post on youtube but I can't voice my dislike for the guy who practices 1808 economics and a foreign policy that lead us into two world wars?
Why don't YOU Ron Paul supports shut up? Preaching your bullshit here is fine, but on videos that have no link whatsoever to politics just because they are popular and you're spreading your message? Fuck you.
what's with the bad language? I knew you would be stupid enough to cuss a girl, especially over the internet! HAHA..you really are the lowest of the low aren't you? and I am not even a supporter of anyone, I was just saying how you need to keep your trap shut since on every video I see your stupid comments, on how Ron Paul is bad and whatnot. If he is so bad and his followers annoy you so much then why don't you get your lazy ass up and do something about it? You sure are pathetic!!!
What's pathetic is how all those Ron Paul nutters are going to say and do after he loses...which is going to happen.
I'll clean up my language if you are going to be such a wimp and can't take it. If you can't even handle simple english words, I really don't know how you can really handle anything else.
uh yeah that's simple English, you are such a child.. even i didn't go that low . Anyway what's your problem? Did Ron Paul rape you or something? Is that why your bitching so much? well wimp! I think you should take your trashy mouth elsewhere , because we do not need idiots like you here.
I don't think they could silence him any more. If they didn't allow him there, he would hold a rally next door and get more people to show up and the media would report that.
Of course they could. If the media wouldn't report on him at all only a few people would know about him. The majority of voters get their information from the tv or newspapers. If "the media" wants to silence a candiate they easily could.
lol, they all sit there stroking themselves... at least some people *couhg*ronpaul*cough* focus a little more on the issue and a little less on their ego.
I agree with mexicanalemundo, I'd vote for Ron Paul if I was republican. I'm a liberal but its nice to finally see a republican who isn't afraid to say things need to change. Good for you Mr. Paul!
You can't script the candidates but you can script the questions through selection. Nobody should be allowed to ask a question that first states, you are going to fail unless they ask it of all candidates. You can't say it's freedom of speech because it's not the government limiting the speech, it's CNN.
Im not even remotely a republican, and I would vote for Ron Paul! The guy just has a good head on his shoulders! I DO want a democrat (NOT hillary) as a president, but I sure as hell hope Ron Paul wins if its a republican!
Why do want a Democrat to win when you obviously see the integrity of Ron Paul? The Democrat / Republican thing hardly matters anymore. It comes down to this ... WHO DO YOU REALLY TRUST?
Honestly, I don't understand the logic of voting the party line.
To bad I don't believe any of them. I saw the whole debate and the answers where horrible. I don't trust the Republicans and Ronald Reagan doesn't really convince me.
All 8 of those candidates just bragged about their "records" along with agreeing to the question. Ron Paul stands out because his records are more substantial than the other candidates & he was the only one who actually the intelligence to, like the doctor he is, target the problem & prescribe a remedy.
No new taxes????? I love how people hold republicans responsible when they raise a tax or two. Then you have democrats who raise every tax and fee there is and no one says a damn thing? WOW!
That's because democrats are supposed to raise taxes. They run on it "repeal the Bush tax cuts" How many dems said that? The republican voters vote for lower taxes. The democrat voters will accept higher taxes as long as the rich get it worse and they get to collect on the new revenue somehow.
yeah, "I have the best record" Only Ron Paul told what the real problem is. It doesn't matter what the tax rate is, if you spend out of control, the money has to come from somewhere.
I don't want to resort to ad-hominem, but Huckabee is just as sleazy as Clinton. He can't talk straight, b/c most of his views are too moderate or liberal. He's certainly appealing to less fervent, less principled members of conservative wing with his suave mannerism. In a nutshell, he's political/economical views are more compatible to Hilary or Giuliani's.
I think that of all of them, Ron Paul is the only one with a shred of a chance of actually lowering taxes. He's the only one who's plan will cut spending big time--bring home the troops. As far as a real follow through, his 10 terms in office consistently following through on campaign promises and never wavering should say everything.
When Ronald Reagan first took office one of the first things he did was order an audit of the spending in the government. One of the conclusions of the audit was that money raised from the federal income tax does not go towards services expected by taxpayers. I assume its a mystery regarding exactly where the income tax ends up. Most of the governmental services we enjoy in this country are paid for by local, state, and excise taxes.
All those who may be intrigued by Huckabee's position concerning the federal income tax need to understand that the governor simply wants to replace the income tax with an extremely high sales tax, as high as 30% some have estimated. So, Ron Paul is still the only candidate who seriously wants to lift the tax burden off of the American people.
I hope people take note of what Ron Paul said here. He is the only one who addresses the whole issue. He's not going to feed you just a one liner of crap that has no merit or way of being orchestrated.
Huckabee is so full of crap! He has no record to support his claims. His talk of Flat tax is so out of whack, and his rhetoric of doing away with the IRS.... I am curious what Huckabee would replace the IRS with..."Tax Security Department" designed with Huckabees funny money numbers? I dont think any of the candidates understand how much money the Government is spending of our money other then Dr. Paul.
I am a military vet and I have two brothers one in Iraq one in Afghanistan. I get fed up with the frivolous spending. Its always a touchy topic because people do not understand how the system works. For example the F22 raptor program, sounds good but really is not necessary and way to expensive. If people really wanted to support the troops the money would go to better equipment for the foot soldiers not to big government special interest contracts.
You are right about that. But i honestly dont believe in military intervention unless our national security is at stake. The UN does not run our country, WE DO!
The US created the UN...and the United Nations is a representation of exactly what the name says. To go against them is the same as a player doing something against what his/her team wants them to do. The US is the superpower of the world with all their nukes...but that doesn't mean it is the smartest
The US created the UN? Did we the people create the UN? How dare you as a foreigner tell an American he should take marching orders from foreigners when they decide its time to go to war. You authoritarian foreigners have no respect for liberty and should STAY OUT of AMERICAN politics.
No respect for liberty? Where do you get that knowledge from? And the same way he said the US created the UN is the same regard as you saying "UN does not run our country, WE DO!" If you instead of the administration did...you wouldn't be at war anymore since 70% of Americans don't want a war due to loss of life, inflation, and TRILLIONS of dollars of debt
From my experience with talking to foreigners many of them favor socialism and big government...Anyway im talking about idealy we should run our country as much as possible even if its not much(nothing now). The constitution should be restored to where congress has the authority to declare war not the president. Since the UN was made presidents have declared unauthorized wars under UN resolutions. Im saying we should take our country back.
vstuffv dont patronize me, you think i dont know the administration does what it pleases? Americans need to start voting for presidents that will act for the interest of america not the "UN" and special interest groups. We cant afford to be the military arm of the "UN" and we never could...noone can. Iraq was no threat to our security neither is Iran.

Sad.
HarvBand 4 years ago
Why dont you stop acting like a victim and do some research. Oh maby you dont like ron paul because he wants to get out of Iraq... You should do some research on how wars lead to inflation, leads to poverty at home and profit for special interests and the military industrial complex. Dont be a victim, vote in the primary. I dont care if you vote for ron paul vote for my future and the hope i wont have to die in a commune
LeadersEatSheap 4 years ago
A: nothing new here...
B: I can't vote in a primary - I'm an independent
C: All of the things you say about RP are the positives - I am also looking at the negatives - If these things were the only concerns, he would have my vote. RP supporters are starting to sound like amateur AMWAY salesmen - highlighting a few positive points and ignoring the rest. Nice that you're interested, but open your mind enough to be supportive AND critical.
HarvBand 4 years ago
One reason I LIKE RP is because he wants out. I could show you some really cool things about economics that would make you question the "free Market" because it ALWAYS leads to corporate capitalism. Yes - I AM a victim - of uneducated voters and a poor selection of candidates. Good to know your worst fear is dying in a commune!!! You must be missing out on what the rest of us fear.
HarvBand 4 years ago
I know it sounds nice to be able to regulate corporations but its not realistic. This could only happen if every elected official was 100% honest. The free market with its few faults is the safest way. Otherwise big governemt just gets bigger. Its just like the arguement for policing the world. It sounds nice if we had honest people to decide where to help but its driven by special interests.

Questions like this are typical for Americans by the way too... it's one big "tell the American public what they want to hear" "debate".... This isn't a debate. In my country debates are about real political aspects and not about giving a show....

You can't script the candidates but you can script the questions through selection. No new taxes????? I love how people hold republicans responsible when they raise a tax or two. Then you have democrats who raise every tax and fee there is and no one says a damn thing? WOW!
icewhite11 4 years ago
That's because democrats are supposed to raise taxes. They run on it "repeal the Bush tax cuts" How many dems said that? The republican voters vote for lower taxes. The democrat voters will accept higher taxes as long as the rich get it worse and they get to collect on the new revenue somehow.

I don't want to resort to ad-hominem, but Huckabee is just as sleazy as Clinton. He can't talk straight, b/c most of his views are too moderate or liberal. I think that of all of them, Ron Paul is the only one with a shred of a chance of actually lowering taxes. He's the only one who's plan will cut spending big time--bring home the troops. As far as a real follow through, his 10 terms in office consistently following through on campaign promises and never wavering should say everything.
demuretwilight 4 years ago 5
When Ronald Reagan first took office one of the first things he did was order an audit of the spending in the government. One of the conclusions of the audit was that money raised from the federal income tax does not go towards services expected by taxpayers. I assume its a mystery regarding exactly where the income tax ends up. Most of the governmental services we enjoy in this country are paid for by local, state, and excise taxes.
iFriend1980 4 years ago
All those who may be intrigued by Huckabee's position concerning the federal income tax need to understand that the governor simply wants to replace the income tax with an extremely high sales tax, as high as 30% some have estimated. So, Ron Paul is still the only candidate who seriously wants to lift the tax burden off of the American people.
iFriend1980 4 years ago 3
I hope people take note of what Ron Paul said here. He is the only one who addresses the whole issue. He's not going to feed you just a one liner of crap that has no merit or way of being orchestrated.

I dont think any of the candidates understand how much money the Government is spending of our money other then Dr. Paul.

What about a tax cut on wasteful military spending?
ManufacturedThoughts 4 years ago 8
I am a military vet and I have two brothers one in Iraq one in Afghanistan. I get fed up with the frivolous spending. Its always a touchy topic because people do not understand how the system works. For example the F22 raptor program, sounds good but really is not necessary and way to expensive. If people really wanted to support the troops the money would go to better equipment for the foot soldiers not to big government special interest contracts.
wfillmore1 4 years ago 4
You are right about that. But i honestly dont believe in military intervention unless our national security is at stake. The UN does not run our country, WE DO!

The US created the UN...and the United Nations is a representation of exactly what the name says. LeadersEatSheap 4 years ago
No respect for liberty? Where do you get that knowledge from? And the same way he said the US created the UN is the same regard as you saying "UN does not run our country, WE DO!" If you instead of the administration did...you wouldn't be at war anymore since 70% of Americans don't want a war due to loss of life, inflation, and TRILLIONS of dollars of debt
vstuffv 4 years ago
From my experience with talking to foreigners many of them favor socialism and big government...Anyway im talking about idealy we should run our country as much as possible even if its not much(nothing now). The constitution should be restored to where congress has the authority to declare war not the president. Since the UN was made presidents have declared unauthorized wars under UN resolutions. Im saying we should take our country back.
