  • "why oh why... For pity sake they should have saved themselves." Dave's voice carries the emotion over so clearly. Got to <3

  • Like if you heard this on Pretty Little Liars.

  • @lexikalfanfic well...I messed up your name twice...just look at the other comments haha sorry I'm on my ipod

  • Comment removed

  • @lexicalcanfic omg. Both of my pet rats died recently too! That's freaky, but yeah so much stuff has happened, especially recently, in my life (I'm only 13 so that's not a long span) and DMB has led me through it all.

  • this is so cruell and beautiful:)

i can do it,the fly doesnt bother when its dead..

  • Along with "High Hopes" (Pink Floyd) I want this song played at my funeral. I am not sure what that says about me, but those are the two songs that represent me. This is a great song.

  • @Samanthaj2100 I did the same thing lol :P

  • Goddamn it, this songs make me feel realllly weird. So intense.

  • Love this song. Kept listening to Joshua singing it over and over :-) . Downloaded it with Dave and loved it even more. Enjoyed the movie, acting so good.

  • Joshua: we,ll together now uncle

    uncle: yeah we will kid

joshua: for ever and ever and ever

uncle: um..yeah i left something in my car (hurried footsteps door opens and shuts car screeches away)

  • This song makes me wanna cry....:'(

  • @TheDmbfanforever It makes me want to cry a bit too. Especially if I listen to it drunk. My pet rat just died today and for some reason I am drawn to sad songs when I am already upset though.... :) It's a very beautiful song with hauntingly sad lyrics. People think of psychopathy, in general, as being a condition that affects monsters. That distance and inability to love is very sad. Nothing in life is simple, and I love how "grey" this movie was.

  • Great song. Joshua was a creepy ass little kid. wtf

  • @wvSkier88 He was kind of creepy, but it was done very well. If you look closely he gives his parents and guardians so many signs (meant for the audience only, maybe?) that he is struggling. His rant about Apep and Seth, his fainting spell at school, his cutting open his plush panda in front of his father. Combined with his mother's early depression during his infancy, the case could be made that he had reactive attachment disorder. Check out Child of Rage if you liked this one.

  • Creepy Movie... I mean, what child does that to their Guinea Pig??!!

  • @welkohn it dies,i think so he takes the stuffing out of his teddy and puts it in the guinea pig like a normal 10 year old

  • anyone know where i can get the piano chords for this song???????? like in the movie joshua when jacob kogan plays it on the piano? i cant find the chords for piano anywhere :((((

  • amazing. (L)

  • movie must not be good

  • @BruceWayne377 i thought it wasn't going to be good either, but guess who's starring in it?

Sam Awesome Rockwell! any movie with him rocks!

it's pretty slow, but it's creepy and the ending made the movie like: whoa wth, this kid is a master psycho o.O

it's sort of like a psychological thriller drama.

The kid Jacob Kogan is in Star trek as young spock.

if you're into movies that have family problems etc, it's very recommendable! good acting as well from all :)

  • i think this song is so beautiful

dave matthews is most def perfect for this song

  • I love this song. I want to listen to it for the rest of my life.

  • I love it. this is a great tattoo, going to get it

  • such an amazing song captures the little sociopath perfectly!

  • all i wanna do now is grab some ice cream and put this on repeat :(

  • I love this song but I find Jacob Kogans version somehow more beautiful and pure. Really causes shivers down the spine.

  • if only i could write as sexy sweet as my man dave.

  • lost dmb songs, they best way the hear their songd like being lost on I 80 on the way to San Francisco

  • @hippifly1

Being lost is the best way to hear music ! Im Danish but but have 2 kids in Modesto - I took that drive many times on my trips to Cali to see my kids - love it - listening to music and just drive - just drive - and fly :)

  • very thought provoking song from an eery movie

love the song as it captures the character joshua to a t....

wish they would release this song...

  • great song

  • It's so wrong, that someone wrote my life without even knowing me...o_O,

  • i love this movie it actually gave me nightmers but i never got abused and i drew pictures like that

  • The only song that made me cry :))

  • Outstanding song

  • If I hadn't watched the film I would have never realised how haunting this song is.

It is an eerie song but is amazing all the same.

  • this is the best calm song i know i love this song and i always listen to his when i want to just mellow out and be in my own head

  • did dave write this?

  • omg i love this song and the movie is crazy and creepy but great lol.

  • My bf and I shit ourselves when he started to sing this song at the end of the movie, perfect/beautiful/haunting match.

  • @COWLICKPATTIES sounds very romantic lol

  • never heard of dave matthews before hearing this song while watching the film joshua, thank god for late night channel hopping :) song gets better every time i hear it.

  • This band should have it's own national holiday.

  • @dmbandgroove and I would say international holiday...i'm from brasil and love the band

  • is Bela Fleck the banjoist?

  • i Live in brazil and they translated the name all wrong.. its called Joshua.. here its called Joshua, the son o evil... lol.. iv done worst things when i was his age lol.. but still a pretty creepy movie.. and i cant stop listening to this song, sooo great..

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE this song!! Anyone know how I can get a copy of it??? I've looked on soulseek and a few other places, no avail.. Please HELP!!! Thanks guys xx

  • honestly i hate DMB , but this song is brilliant

  • @80Hex you must have no idea what he is about then

  • @adamgrosskopf

Dave is about everyone having their own opinion and loving them even if it differs from ours....

If he hates DMB then I hope he finds happiness in other pursuits...

I, for one, love DMB, and I love Dave's philosophy.

  • Brilliant! More songs like this please ...

  • @impopraving if you liked this song, you should check out Baby Blue, its of their latest album.

  • love this so much xxxxxxx

  • i love so much it music

  • this song is amazing.

  • chords?

  • just watched the film and it was freaking amazing. The end really caught me by surprise lol The ssong at the end was just perfect though :) really explains Joshua's feelings throughout the film :) AWESOME SONG!!!

  • I saw the movie today and fell in love with this song ^^ The kid is really creepy

  • i don't get "THE FLY" part of the song, it sounds like dave matthews just through " when you pull the wings off of the fly" in this song. HOw does that have anything to do about the situation joshua was in.

  • @Stifledsubmission its a metaphore :P

  • @Stifledsubmission I always viewed it as how Joshua liked to tortured things in the movies. Not sure what the "never wonders why I did it" part means in it though.

  • @Stifledsubmission i think the fly part is a metaphor. its kinda saying how complex humans are and that if you torture a fly, the fly doesnt think its wrong. in joshuas mind its not wrong but in reality he is a sociopath

  • Luv this song, and the movie is one of the most amazing things ever!

  • Comment removed

  • only dave cuda dun it :)

  • I bought this movie as soon as i seen it on HBO, love this song, love joshua part more!

  • The movie doesn't say or show anything directly. We can only imagine if Joshua really killed the dog or those hampsters in his class. We can't be even sure if he really pushed of his grandma from the stairs. Thats the scariest element of the movie. We can't really say what this kid is capable to do to achieve attention. On the other hand he is a tragic character, unable to feel like a normal person. At the end of the movie I almost felt sorry for him.

  • luv it, the way its inserted in the end of JOshua's movie, with the kid singing is brilliant, too bad that this scene and the ending is not available .. thanks 4 this vid :))

  • This movie was freakin creepie, that kid was a freakin sinister-masterminded-manipulative-pendeho.

  • Can someone Plz help me find this movie.. Cuz i have looked everywea for it.. an its like da movie was never made or somethin.. Onli time i seen it wus wen i rented it.. If some1 nos were i can find da movie plz let me no.. Thank you.. Love this song by da waii :]

  • search torrents, i found a copy of it on there

  • This song sounds just like dis song Called Color Blind.. but its by 2 diff ppl.. I love this song eva since i watched dis movie

  • i'm kinda falling into this song everytime.. reminds of a very hard time in my life and almost makes me cry.. so i do not listen to it very often but today i do.

    merry xmas everybody!

  • i love this song....reminds me of my grandfather......RIP "O" ;(

  • >.....> about time...

  • if u hav to have the annotations will u please put the lyrics on it please?? :)

  • When i pulled the wings off of the fly,

The fly never wonders why i did it,

When i pulled the wings off of the fly,

The fly never wonders why i did,

You know they didn't never have to love me, no no no and know one will ever love them now, oh oh but they, they always wanted somehow to save me, why oh why for pity sake they should've saved themselfs, oh oh but you, you always said i never missed a note, i only ever wanted to be with you i only wanted someone to play, play play play

  • The second coment is part 1, and the first is part 2

  • thanx :)

  • Want me to comment on your video... stop with all the pop ups on it... there is your comment ha

  • i really love this song. because its about a boy who really feels like hes unwanted around his family and theyre not thinking about him only the baby. its like he's selfish bacause he always wants eyes on him not anybody else. Also the movie is about how he is trying to convice many people that he is being abuse which he's not and thats what meade me think really hard about this movie and song. this was my favorite song out of the whole movie. it made me feel step in his life and shoes.

  • This is a really nice song. :)

  • I don't see how this can be seen as in the third person, when it references I/me repeatedly.

It's just the way Joshua feels, and I feel the fly is a creature that cannot think or judge, as little kids would mess with them and pull off their wings. A fly can't talk back and ask why their wings were pulled off...

  • ich liebe den film und das lied *_*

  • this song really awesome i also love the movie

  • The song is about, a third person looking into joshuas life, in this case a fly like on a wall seeing everything he does which i think is a metaphor for God looking down on the boy. ''The fly never wonders why i did''

  • i just love love love this song. and the movie is fantastic.

  • Joshua is a very creepy movie, Jacob Kogan did an amazing job on the part. This song really does symbolize Joshua's feelings throughout the movie, and that is what makes the song so scary when he sings it.

  • @pikapal1993

thats true dont you love the uncles face in that scean

  • @pikapal1993

thats true dont you love the uncles face in that scean?

  • reminds me a lot of time bomb

  • As far as I know, this song "the fly" is written for the movie Joshua by Dave Matthews.

So, in my opinion this song is really revealed the feeling from Joshua, the main character from the movie.

Of course we related this song to the movie.

If you want to picture something else (in your life) through this song, be free!

so, this is not about selfish and ordinary.

I know this song frm the movie and of course we´re free to comment this song which is connecting to the movie.

  • silly thing is everybody , everystereotype, has sumthing to say about everything. all of the comments opinions truly just compliment the movie's message. do we ever ask ourselves truly what this song can relate to in this film, can itapply to our everyday life? or are we simply to selfish and ordinary to understand what other people like Dave Matthews transmit through their songz?

  • this song is so pretty but that movie... not so much

  • You know, I've seen a lot of DMB concerts and I'm from Virginia so I'm def. a huge fan! I love this song! Even though it was compsed for Joshua - which is a really creepy movie - but I like the piano version and this version.

  • great song

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, I like Joshua's version too. However, it seems wrong to like it coz he's a lil demon!!!

  • ya i like his version to but its not on here an yeaa but hes cute lol

  • this song is so amazing and it is creepy because sometimes i feel like im listening to joshua from the movie because he was playing this on the piano at the end

  • i luv the piano version to but its not on here :[

  • this song is amazing

  • this is seriously the best song i have ever heard!!! and the movie joshua was great---but very creepy- in the movie 'joshua' joshua(jacob kogan) sings this song at the end and it sounds amazing!!!

  • this song is kind of sad good job Dave Matthews i loved your music every sense i was a kid.

  • this song is great.... but this movie is the only time ever hearing it????? makes no sence

  • And for some reason DMB never plays this live? WTF?????? GREAT SONG

Probably my favorite DMB song. I enjoy his music very much. I just really hate his following more than anything. Just like Dream Theater. Sometimes the masses of fans a musical act has affects me more than the music. Like girls enjoying John Mayer.

  • That's interesting...you love the band, you just hate everyone else that likes them/follows them? I kinda take offense to that, being a fellow fan. Considering I love them because they spread a message largely of love and togetherness/acceptance, I really can't understand why you'd not like other people that subscribe to those ideals. Out of curiosity, what exactly is wrong with the rest of us DMB/Dave fans? o.O

    Cheers, anyway.

  • When I was in college, there seemed to be too many white-hat douchebags there were into DMB simply to "fit in" with this supposed mainstream "in crowd." Almost like being into "Dave," was a rite of passage to impress the many women that loved his music.

I go to shows and I'm into bands for their music. Not for who else likes them, or how good they look, or being a part of some following. I LOVE Wild Man Fischer and NO ONE I know closely likes him. and I don't care.

  • No offense, I think your issue is that you're stereotyping his fans. I mean, all of my friends that like Dave are verrry different people. I really cannot respect you ragging on other Dave fans just because you've met maybe thirty of them and they all happened to be of similar personalities. Considering tens of thousands of people are at each of his/the band's shows, I think we deserve more credit than all being "white-hat douchebags." In essence, stop stereotyping, because it's ignorant.

  • Stereotypes wouldn't exist if everyone stopped living up to them. That goes for you, Irish! haha

  • your a moron, you now nothing about the DMB Community. Sure there are mainstream fans...but the "hardcore" DMB Community is very large...the Band make some of the best music thats out today.

  • Um retard if u are a real true DMB fan u would know the only reason they don't play it in there concerts, because it was composed for the sole purpose of the film(Joshua). Meaning it wasn't a Single for a debut album, but the theme song for the movie!!

  • i think this if you've seen the movie u can understand the true meaning to this song its a glympse into a mind of sociopath and a killer

  • i think the fly does wonder why he did it

  • was not a DMB fan until i heard this..didn't care for the movie, but i absolutely love this!

  • This song is beautiful yet in a haunting type of way. It's just one of those songs you can relate to in one way or another.

  • master piece.. absolutly genius..

i looked this song up the secong the movie ended..

  • Awesome song, everything that Dave does is golden!

  • just saw the movie the song really stood out had to run to the computer to look it up to hear it again......great and haunting....

  • same lol

  • why this song is not famous? this is one of the most beautiful songs that i ever heard

  • dude this song is deep,

    really emotional

    glad its on here

  • Really great song, I didn't know that before i saw the movie called "Joshua", but it's really beautyful

  • i cant find this song on iTunes :(

    I LOVE DMB!

    great in concert too!

  • I like the Dave Matthews Band alright, but they aren't my favorite band or anything. However, this song is one of my top 5 favorite songs of all time. So beautiful, and perfect for the film Joshua. C'mon, Dave, throw us a bone & release a single!!!!

  • This is such a hauntingly beautiful song. I love it.

  • DMB is infamous for having songs that are only heard in concert. They are also a tape friendly band so you may want to utilize AntsMarching to find a show that has them playing this song.

  • i really like this song... i wish they would put it on an album

  • They should of put it on a single release at least!
