  • It's rare you see Jeff playing a Les Paul. He can make whatever guitar he's playing just sing.

  • so hab was geiles entdeckt haha

  • Jeff and his band is fantastic in 1974! His way of re-inventiveness is the mystery. He is still the electric guitar hero.Period.

  • Seeing this on TV was the first time I really "got" Beck - fantastic.!

  • AWESOME. So creative and talented ya gotta love him. And the band is great too.

  • fantastic!!! =-)

  • Whats with the drummer's face in 1:59. He looks like a video game character texture.

  • lol.

  • @naveengta Yeah like someone out of Driver on the ps1 xD or perhaps Metal Gear Solid, lets not forget that.

  • @neo14085 yeah, thinking of Driver on psx... he looks like those pedestrians.

  • Who is the drummer?

  • @Gretschdrums75 Jim Copley is the drummer :D

  • brilliant!

  • wonderful funky groove back there. Who's on bass?

This is when he was still playing the electric guitar, just better than the rest of us.

Now its like he's playing something invisible that no one else can aspire to.

    Love him.

  • Wow, he's still using a pic in this vid,..

  • @CasualGlance Yes, and his Les Paul!

  • Love this awesome Beatles tune!

  • jeff beck un de mes guitariste preferé ,c'est peut etre celui ci tellement inventif et improvisateur ,un genie de la guitare!

  • cocky bastard, but in the "world of guitar" it's probably never been more spectacularly justified than in JB's case.

  • Very flashy, but yet, subdued.Any musician would know that He's very dedicated.

  • love clapton, love page to death. but in my humble opinion, the best to come from the yardbirds.

  • Why can't the BBC officially release this video? It would sell up a storm !!!

He does this song, "Get Down In The Dirt" and something else I can't remember.

  • it was on a show called 'sing the beatles' last night on bbc4. all i can is woah

  • A master, a magician..

No one's 'the Best'...but Jeff Beck is my favorite guitarist.. On a les paul, a strat, a tele, a jackson.

gosh, this clip is 35 years old..

  • He makes it look so effortless. Thanks for the vid.

  • Is that the coolest move at 2:51? Slides way up ending with vibrato, quick pick-slide, finishing with a slide down.

  • in my opinion, better than the original.

  • Jazzy!

  • What a fantastic post! Where the hell does one find this sort of thing?

  • I find a good bit of the heavier stuff to have a checklist quality to it; still plenty of impressive playing, of course, but leaning gnarly and cacophonous tone-wise, and somewhat repetitive playing-wise compared to this and plenty of 70s live stuff I've heard in person and recorded (either approved or bootleg).

  • good heavens, is this fantastic or what ???!!! his playing is so free and unfettered, yet still so musical here; not just trotting out the bag of tricks as on some of the recent Ronnie Scott stuff. better, more varied guitar tone too. smokin' groove by the band.

  • I wouldn't criticize the Ronnie Scott's stuff; that's him today-as good as always, dare I say-better

  • I don't hear it, and I hear a lot. I'd agree what he's doing w/ the whammy bar is ridiculously gorgeous and evolved, and the new dvd shows that off spectacularly -- in quieter moments anyhow.

  • I agree I'm sick to death of the whammy bar.

  • the talkbox is awesome

  • I can't recall anyone who has continually grown and reinvented himself far past the year that for other guitarists we call "prime". This man has been in his prime for 40 years. At Jeff Beck's funeral, he going to sit up in his casket and play something we never heard before. And may that be many, many years from now!

  • haha that will definetly happen. of course, he will only be dead in like 40+ years. why? becuase he's a guitar god. they live longer. for example: les paul. and so will jimmy page.

  • but what about jimi hendrix and srv they didnt live too long

  • Rock God's don't die... They Ascend

  • ohh right. my mistake.

  • The best stuff ever shown on tv!

  • this is from a TV prog called 5 Faces of Guitar, I remmbr watching it. Barney Kessel, Paco Pena were 2 of the others. Backing band is a band called Upp who used to back Jeff a lot. The kbd player, Andi Clark, co-wrote Head for Backstage Pass on Wired.

  • Este tipo es un fenomeno, esta version en vivo es impresionante, el album blow by blow es para ponerle 11 puntos

  • Oh wow, so great to see this. Blow by Blow my favourite ever... He is a great guitarist and a great man

  • I reckon that his playing on Beck-Ola using a pick and a Les Paul was nearer to his present style of playing that this - perhaps he was just getting more accustomed to fusion or something

  • My mistake - he used a Strat on Beck-Ola

  • el mejor violero del mundo!!!! capo. capo....

y no te salta con un pirururiruriru.. para que digan uu mira....

    este sabe!!!!!!

  • piruru que???

  • JB and a Les Paul...a pick as well...the boy did grow up to become the monster we all try to emulate...just got weirder....lunatic whammy bar and an incredible sense of time and tune...and he still looks ok after all these years! Top player, top bloke...keep me mystified Jeff M8

  • when & where?

  • I like how it looks like Alice Cooper on guitar and David Gilmour on drums. Like the Alice look, Beck ;)

  • ahahah yeah I laughed soo hard when I saw "Gilmour" on drums.

  • me to...lol

  • Kinda looks like Keith Richards from around the same period as well

  • Great nostalgia, seeing him with a Les Paul and using a guitar pick!

  • The master of the electric guitar.

  • Mental!

  • Whaaaaa 2.48 wtf wtf

  • Scary good.

    That was ridiculous.

  • Does anybody knows if he is playing just with the Fender Champ plugged in to an Ampeg cab?or is it the Ampeg next to the Champ another amp?

  • I love this guy.

    He's totally a guitar "singer",

sing with guitar and fly with guitar.

    He's my BEST.

  • what is the stuff which is in his mouth????

  • it's called a talk box.

  • Best guitar player, ever.Period!!! P.S. Dig J.B.,s '52 Les Paul!!! {First year issue}Jeff Beck is as good as he wants to be,anytime he wants to be!Truly amazing guitar player!!!

  • Beck OWNED the seventies! no body came close................thanks for posting

  • he owned the 60s and the 70's

  • I would've thought Beck would have thought of the Beatles as too poppy for him, like Eric Clapton in their early days.

  • The man who made Hi Ho Silver Lining a hit would certainly not consider the Beatles too poppy.

  • He hated Hi Ho SL.

He was forced by his manager to record that song.

Anyway nothing is too popy if the result is this,I mean he did versions, not just repeating.

  • I never thought "She's a Woman" was poppy in the first place, and the Beatles deserve the pre-eminent position and universal respect that they have held for forty years. It was the poster I was replying to who was calling them poppy, not me.

  • My man's so far beyond this now. Always had a way with a phrase that was unsurpassed. Taste supreme!

  • of course jeff is a musical leader!

i like his modern style, without using a pick.

    frampton is very good though.

  • awesome job with the talk-box - move over peter frampton!

  • jeff had the talk box before anyone else and when he heard frampton had got one jeff never used it again. You see, jeff is a leader in music not a follower!!

  • blow by blow AWESOME Jeff !!

  • The notes between 1:05 to 1:10 bring tears to my eyes. Thank you Jeff for BLOW BY BLOW

  • one of the funnier highlights of my music career was shutting down a heckler/drunk moron by cussing him out through my old '70s Heil Sound talkbox during a gig........the crowd roared and ostracized the guy right outta the place! Ahhhhh, they have sooo many uses!

  • おれにも出来そうな気がする

  • can you tell me who the other players are?

Funny to see Jeff using a pick.

I think Jeff should play some more Beatles as he does great covers ( Day In The Life).

  • wow never seen him use a pick

  • At 3:04 he puts it in his mouth and uses his fingers - he uses both sometimes.

  • I believe Richard Bailey on drums and Max Middelton on keyboards, not 100% sure though

  • Daaa-mn

  • Beatles Fusion, Hell yes

  • Too bad we can't hear more from this era of the MASTER!

  • I hate Beck. He picks up the guitar and it plays itself. No fair, man!

  • Fucking excellent! I just love Jeffrey's playing! Excuse my language, but he's a fuckin' lunatic on guitar!

  • Thoroughly enjoyed that...

  • dnikhilrao i agree with you there all the way

the album is like techno on guitar.

jeff becks tone and his unquie playing style

as he plays with his thumb to create wierd a nd whicky sounding noice his last to albums have this style you had it coming and jeff both i highley recommend.

  • great era when he still p[layed that oxblood les paul,, jeff was always a cooler dude than page

  • i highly recommend the album jeff to all guitar lovers, its one of the most enjoyable guitar instrumental albums i ve ever come across.

  • when i see him share the stage with steve vai i can die in piece just the 2 greatest ever

  • fantastic stuff, thanks for posting!

  • fuckin awesome

  • youve got your dates mixed up, douchewad... frampton started performing do you feel like we do in 1974 with the voicebox
