  • Isn't one of these solos by Ron Bykowski?

  • Yeah!! Old Hedz Keep It Real! We Know Wut Wuz Up Back In thu Day!

  • bassline.cum

  • YEAH, THIS TAKES ME BACK TO THE DAY!!!!!!!!!! although my mama freaked when she heard my brothers and I playing this in the basement LOL

  • Just listen to that guitar. Shit...God Damn

  • man 70s music is the shitttttt

  • @oldschoolhiphop20 no doubt yo no doubt

  • i wish i was a kid in the 70s when there was music like this... not the crap we have today

  • SHIT THIS SHIT IS OWSOME!

  • Some people are so high on shrooms that they miss the thumbs up button.

  • and i thought they didnt curse back in the day, but shit, goddamn

  • @syddiallo Yeah dude, this was my first time watching it and I was like "Oh this is a cool intro an-WHAT THE HELL?!". True story.

  • @syddiallo The difference; back in the day they would curse in some music for a point and a purpose. Today they are cursing with no point. no purpose, no beat, no rhythm....just because they can.

  • No matter who is playing lead guitar on this, it was created by Eddie Hazel. I saw it at a concert in 1968 and Eddie was playing and the whole band was singing it. Truth be told, who knows who was playing lead on P-Funk releases? George Clinton didn't keep track, and he used outtakes from studio sessions. Is it any wonder so many got screwed out of their royalties? Plus, he took old songs from back in the beginning and remade them with new titles. Eddie created most of the music back then.

  • a great way to WAKE UP!

  • TNB

  • Would someone please post the lyrics? I'm so lost...

  • Shit ! Goddamn ! Get off your ass and jam !

    FUCK YEAH !

  • Parliament-Funkadelic-I saw them MANY times back in the day....the problem was, there was so much smoke around, I can't recollect much.....:-)

  • that's why their name is "FUNKADELIC!!!!!!!

  • If you play this tune backward, you will hear the message "Shit, god damn, get off your ass and jam!"

  • hipsters don't know shit about funk

  • let's goooooooo!!!!

  • Damn, this jam even got the wallflowers on the floor. It just wasn't loud enough-but it always started a dead party-great live performance from Clinton & the gang-classic!

  • @ coldaziceee. I'm not comparing it to today's rubbish for one second. I can just imagine how shocked some people would have been in the 70's (at least in my country)...agreed. 60% of today's black music is lacklustre, unoriginal and sets out to offend and shock for the sake of it. Nothing more. With no message or meaning.

    Meh.

    Take me to the 70's.

  • OK! I can take orders, but my roomies are looking at me kinda funny...

I have seen them twice. I you can't have fun at a Parliament/Funkadelic concert, you just might as well give up.

  • those 2 dislikes need to get off their ass and jam

  • @cfboxer1248 That was 1 month ago ;_;

  • pure wild funk

  • And our parents say that music didn't used to be foul mouthed xD

"Shit, god dam, get off your ass and jam!"

  • @FegalTube HA still not anything like todays mainstream music. Just listen to some of Nicki Minajs music. Thats what todays youth pumps in their brain daily.

  • mmm samples.

  • This is Paul Warren on guitar! He was THE rock session guitarist at motown. Played on Papa was a rolling stone also and only 18 yrs old at the time! Plays with Rod Stewart now. Detroit breeds bad ass rock and roll guitar maniacs!!!

  • Awesome song!

  • We used to chant this song in school back in the 70s; it drove the teachers nuts.

  • I'll stay on my ass if I want to, Funkadelic you are no the boss of me

  • @Murphdogg4 no dont do it your ass will never forgive you

  • Fake the funk and your nose will grow!!!

  • SHIT GODDAMNMMMMMMMM

  • DO THE abby!!!

  • Let is loose! It is real!

  • This would have been much more preferable as the theme song to Space Jam.

  • Shit! Goddamn! Get off to ass and jayam!!!

  • make it at least 360p pretty pls

i like listen to music loud and when i get 240 p high tones rape my ear drums pretty hard.

  • TWO PEOPLE NEED TO GET OFF THEIR ASS AND JAM !!!

  • Comment removed

  • Jeeeeeaaaaahhh :)))) make me happpppy!

  • oh snap.....this a major groove

  • We used to call this the National Anthem. Most Black folks back then weren't down with hard rock style guitars, but they made an exception for this track.

  • 2 people need hit with da bop gun !!!!

  • this blew my mind when i first heard it back in college, aint been the same since, lol

  • funk used to be a bad word!

  • marc b plays a les paul

  • de la soul, me myself and I?

  • can't believe kids would rather listen to that other garbage than to this !

  • sarita k. : i still have this album that you exchanged for my rolling stones "some girls". that was 35 years ago...

  • What a tight fucking song! I wish real music was still played everywhere! The music of today doesn't even reflect the times. Cuz I know back in the 40's and 50's it was jump blues and rock and roll and then 60's was great soul music from stax and motown and 70's was the emergence of funk and then 80's Michael Jackson and Quiet Storm. Then 90's was some great alternative rap artists and neo soul. Then 00's is ??????????????????????????. For a while Outkast was doing well at merging funk and rap.

  • Funkadelic is the real deal. They took it deeper than P Funk y'all, but love em both!

    -FunkMouf

  • isnt there a rap version of this song? it says shit goddamn get off your ass and jam? i keep trying to find it but i cant, i heard it when i was in 5th grade so i dont remember the singers of it

  • @sn250 yea, its not eddie, so fucking what? Its an insane solo so appreciate it for what it is. So fucking annoying.

  • Wow! It's been decades since I've heard this. My older, "funkfied" brother used to play this when I was a kid, about 9 or 10, and we were so impressed by the badwords in it. They can say that and we can't. Why!?

  • Sickest guitar EVER.

  • @TheArchieSpeck yea, but its no eddie hazel

  • Gamertsfelder Hall.......Ohio U...oh the memories of the FUNK from back in the day....still a die hard funkateer........FUNK ON

  • I have loved this for years.

  • OMG

  • I love songs like this that are well thought out creatively

  • Nasty! why do I like it anyway?

  • Holy cow. Amazing.

  • Always played at the 70's house parties!!!! Doin the Abby

  • @kissmylipsification Are you able to describe the Abby? I seem to recall the name of this dance but can't remember what the steps or moves were. I think I'm getting old, lol, if I recall the dance move I can't recall it's name and vice versa. Ah, the good old carefree days.

  • dam amazing guitar!

  • Does it get any better than this?!!!!

  • ok, ok, i'm getting up and jamming now...

  • @blankbanz and SHAKE ! GODDAMN !! FOR FUNK'S SAKE ^^

  • WHY IS THERE NOT MORE MENTION OF EDDIE HAZEL AS ONE OF THE GREATS?!?!?!

    I love funk guitar!

  • @BryceD546 Yes i know this is michael Hampton, but him and Eddie! ha

  • Public enemy sampled this yaaah and i fckin love these guys

  • OH MY GOD THAT GUITAR IS PURE SEX!!!!!!!!!!

  • @LilReaper608

    Yup!!

  • funk music is sex music, feel the juices flowing, funk forever

  • Pep rallys and games in Hampton, VA !!!!! yes...the memories

  • Ahhhhhhh... memories! :D

  • THE ANTHEM TO EVERY OLD HEAD THERE IZ OUT THERE...PARENTS MADE US ALL BEGIN TO CUSS..

  • this is paul warren on lead here eddie was in prison when the let's take it to the stage sessions were made. eddie played on good to your earhole, and better by the pound only.

  • Shit, god damn.

  • @DazedTea Get off yo ass and jam.

  • Eddie just melted my face off...........Thankyou

  • @noname02905 It sounds like Michael Hampton, but I could be wrong...

  • the guitar was on fire!!!!

  • Oh Shit we use to say this at Football Games...1975 Harlan HS Chicago lol!!!

  • OMFG where have you been hiding all my life...

  • Thats my kind of solo.

  • i loved this so much there will never be another funkadelic!

  • I heard this was blastin' during Marion Barry's first inauguration in the 70s! talk about fonky!

  • @cgord37 whoo hooo!!!

  • THE BEGINING WAS SO GOD DAMN LOUD WITH MY HEADPHONES

  • If this doesn't make you move then your ass is already dead

  • classic funk quitar is wicked.........just to dam short!

  • @matthew0489 what's a quitar?

  • I know a house track with the same lyrics as this song... Can anybody PLEASE tell me who remixed it or anything? Thanks

  • I still don't like the cussing part of this BUT I think the tune itself is one of the funkiest, hard hittin' tunes I've ever heard. That guitar is SICK!!!!!!

It could have just been an instrumental and had the same effect.

  • @Torihope The music is amazing, but to say it would have the same effect without its classic anthemic hook is ridiculous.

  • I remember my best friend and i were toasted on qualludes and listening to the album that lenny had just bought and we put that bitch on the stereo and my mother was upstairs and she heard the whatever funking the cow and freaked out and ran downstairs. I WONT HAVE THAT KIND OF WORDS IN THIS HOUSE ;). Well lenny put the next song on and THIS CAME ON! :D. Anyway back in those days FUNK was not allowed to be said in my house anyway :D.

    Funky Funky Funk :D.

  • thumbs up if you heard this from rockpapermario

  • This neds to be a much longer song

  • RockPaperMario sent me hear!!

  • mklk

  • I'm a old head and a bass player. Plenty of brothers are still playin bass but where are our lead guitar players of now and the future? When I was gowing up we listened to all kinds of music. Black people y'all dont; know but y'all slackin. everybody that plays insrtuments ain't go to play int the church. We're losing our legacy on monster rock style lead guitar players. Shit got damn!!!!!

  • @phillybass101 Right on brotha Bass. They forgot that Jimi, Eddie Hazel, and Ernie Isley set loose some serious shit back in the days. And that isn't even counting some of the early influences that blues brought us.

  • @phillybass101 Know anybody that plays a Gibson Les Paul? We Need Some Les Paul Players Out there!

  • @kjchicago1 I gots one, but always seem to reach for the tele...

  • @phillybass101 thats true, the only soul I have felt in the guitar is when the black masters were playing.. yeah I felt it from plenty of white folks too, but these guys were as they say so themselves inspired by black guitar legends.. theres not much soul left in contemporary music anyway, though thats just my opinion, but yep I dont see any upcoming black lead guitarists, mostly just rappers.. wheres the funk/blues/rocknroll? did u guys disown it?

  • @phillybass101 im a youngg spanish guitaristt butt i gota say tha i havent seen a black guitar player of my age ever. not to be racist or anything but white people just cant funk or blues as well as black people can. thats just a fact

  • Brings back good memories. The dj played this and everybody at the club/party went crazy. A good dj knew just when the momentum was right to ease into this song.

  • The first time I heard this I saw them in concert at Radio City Music Hall in NY, older people had shocked expressions on their faces. My friends and I then started busting dance moves in the aisles. It was quite a scene. "Oh dear I am appalled at such language" Then I wondered what made them by the tickets. Youth is wasted on the young people; Get off your ass!

  • In yesteryear, as a club DJ, I opened every set each night P-Funk Shit, Goddamn get Off Your Ass and Jam. It was a signature song, that my whole crowd new. Even on slow , cold, January nights, it never failed to fill the floor. I would slide from P-Funk into a Paul Jbara classic, and it would smooth sailing from then to closing.

  • ONE OF THE MOST EPIC JAMS EVER! THE BEST GUITAR AND LYRICS EVER! Just an outstanding far out track. GETING ALL FUNKY, in a good way. :P

  • yes its Eddie Hazel...listen to the way he cuts the riff up at 1:27 . He's using fairly simple patterns in a different way. the timing and the swells on the pedal too....this is his style..this is what makes him a bit special.

  • Glad I decided to investigate the other half of P-Funk today. Been a Parliament fan for years, but never heard the right Funkadelic stuff. This and Super Stoopid have set me straight!

  • A Tribe Called Quest - The Pressure

  • Is it Hampton or Hazel playing the guitar ?

  • @bronenalladin From what I've read, it's neither. Supposedly it one of the many people who used to hang around with the band back in that era. Not sure of his name though.

  • I'm getting high just listening to this. lol.

  • these words speak to me, they are so beautifully put

  • The song I use to introduce people to P-funk.

  • God DAMN!

Man, this is hardcore funkyass shit!

  • Stenson Hall, Peoria Illinois!!! (A.A.)

  • 'NUFF SAID!

  • Words of wisdom!

  • SHIT GODDAM GET OFF YOUR ASS AND JAM!

  • peoples used to curse in music back then? never knew that

  • @yohanntimban - yes, but it fit the music. it wasn't done for shock value, and it was not copied by other artists they way things are copied now. artists back then were more individualized in their artistic expressions. I was at a pool part in LA when I first heard this! Great party days.

  • @moviechick007 Woow thats right , but it sounds like u come str8 from the 70s 80s era if u used to listenin to it. me peeps would call me "sell out'' because i listenin yo ol music while im 22 lol

  • shit, godamn! I will then...

  • Heyyyy!!!!!!!!!!! Git it!!!!!!!!!!

  • Havent heard this in like forever. So I must do as instructed, gettin off my ass and jam

  • Y'all better get off your ass and jam!

  • Masters of the P-Funk baby!!

  • Shake that ass and pass the joint!

  • this is why funkadelic is better then the parliment

  • @skizmsucks23 funkadelic is parliament

  • @koolfraser parliment had some different artists. they also played funk with a wah wah pedal where as the parliment never really used one. Their songs are much better. they had much better albums. and they were much more funkier

  • @skizmsucks23 They started as the same members Cliton just kept adding more as time went on. The biggest difference between the two is that Parliament was more R & B based with lots of horns, lots of vocals nice and smooth sounding. Funkadelic was much funk/rock with dirty guitars, heavy bass, and oh so fun lyrics.

  • @thestalkingbutlers thats why i like funkadelic better. more funk/rock!!!

  • anyone know where i can get the tab for this?

  • I look at P-Funk as the R-rated version of Earth Wind and Fire.

  • @Gwitfu90 There´s still a difference, but i guess (and i know) you're not the only one who thinks that. ;-)

  • @Gwitfu90 I just checked out your comparison of EWF to Parliament Funkadelic, Sorry, but IMO EWF is just a silly bunch of 70's pop guys. No offense is intended.

  • This is good and tight, Brandon Jarod's " The Crush" is Blazing! Get it-Amazon-Itunes

  • Shit goddamn, get off yo' ass and jam!

  • i remember sneaking to buy this album and i didth know my mom was home, and she had a fit..lol..miss ya mommy

  • I like that Dr.Dre is wearing a Funkadelic t-shirt in his fuck wit dre day video!!!

  • South Central Madness sample

  • that's tha P thang

  • I also forgot to mention that Public Enemy used this joint for Bring The Noise(1988) and Brothers Gonna Work It Out(1990).

  • Thanks Paul-I'm happy for your success and will look for your record-you realize that the attention paid to honest soul guitar in f-delic,will ultimately,if not already, go down as some of the best guitar in modern music hist. -always real-never 'technique-ey'-- Bravo

  • hella deep and will always be one of my favorites since the day it was released. ...You gotta' give it to 'em, nobody rocked they way these guys did back then.

  • I'm 57 y/o now and stil feel like funkin'when I hewr this!George clinton could rock a house 35 years ago and still doesThis song is pure funkand it rocks!

  • SICK, Ain´t no groovin like this!

  • Whenever you hear this jopint, playin',all y'all gotta do is put up your funk sign.

  • All these years later, when I hear this I wanna get off my ass and jam.

  • This should be the new amerikkan anthem, cuz mf's need to wake up and get ready for the coming shitstorm!

  • First tune I danced to in a Gay Bar. I felt at home. It didn't matter if one was black, white, male, female or whatever. We loved each other in 1975, and I miss those days. We Can "Get it Together". and U know it

    blessed 'be
