The final boss in Dark Dawn was nothing in epicness compared to this one and the one at the end of TLA. :( Must say i was dissapointed overall by DD. There must be a sequel, so many loose ends.
@manu231188 I agree but from what I heard, they originally intended the game to be a single stand-alone, but there were technical limitations so they had to split the game half way. So it makes sense for the 2nd half to be more entertaining than the 1st half :)

I actually remember this boss quite well. There were other bosses that were extremely challenging in this game (Blackbeard & Briggs) but this dragon was the most annoying. No matter how many summon spells or weapon abilities you unleashed on him, he would still be standing up no matter what. But then again that is the whole purpose of the end boss within a game.
This game made you think. I swear I'm 10 IQ points smarter just for having played it when I was younger. That fucking kraken was probably the first video game boss that I ever used a strategy for. Dope ass game
@LordBrony just like me, I use only djinn to fight boss cuz when I use about 4 of them, I can release a powerful strike cause so much damage, but I use Mia only to heal cuz when you use Mia's djinn, the wish power will gone :P
@mobai123 I didn't use a single summon at all. However, I did use only a few selective djinn as you can tell by my video response. Anyways, either strategies will work!
@LordBrony I know! I'm stubborn when it comes to battle styles. I always stick to my own principle which is without summons and djinn (but sometimes we need djinn support). I always go with pure physical attack.

if you have a droid you can go to the app market and get emulator roms and stuff for systems like gba and even the original ps but it has golden sun 1 not so sure about number 2 and it has pokemon to lol i play it in summer school =)
These types of battles are one of the things I missed most. Just finished Dark Dawn a few days ago...it was okay but I have to admit, it was easier than the previous games. I usually die a few times before taking the hint that I have to level up but in Dark Dawn, I didn't have to train at all even for the optional bosses...I didn't feel challenged like I did in GS 1 and 2
@HiVC808 I agree, Dark Dawn is pretty easy. But you have to consider that these two games came out when we were like 10 or 12. Challenging back then, but the designers still have to make it for younger audiences. Face it, we're too good haha
Best game in GBA by very very far. Epic story, nice graphics, good characters... if this went to console I would buy it with no doubt.
PD: Saturos and Menardi are so fuckin' awesome!! I love how they don't even take a figthing pose, like: Meh... we kill them quickly and forget about this.
Easiest way to beat em is use granite and flash, use one and other char to reset the set one on the next turn and repeat. Team will have undefeatable defence and use the other two to constantly use djinns and use thor/boris and heal whenever needed. Match will be finished in like 2 minutes

Pokemon still holds up as a great RPG at it's core, but it seems like its still stuck in 10 years ago.
Maybe it's due to my maturity also, but Golden Sun series to me is the best handheld RPG I have ever played. Maybe it isn't much seeing that I gave up on handhelds after GBA SP but I have little doubt in my mind there's much better than Golden Sun out there now.
Not only is GS the best handheld RPG series to me but it matches up with some of the best console/PC JRPG's also imo.
ahh the fusion dragon... i decided it wasnt worth having such a challenge again, so i glitched out and boosted with Saturos and Menardi until lvl 99 then spell/summon boosted, and then took down fusion dragon with 5 pyroclasms from Garret ( you can get it with about 1500 kills with eruption at lvl 65+
Dang... I play this on the original NDS and I am currently trying to find it. Lvl up by fighting Saturos and Menardi and then yourself about halfway through Fusion Dragon
Golden Sun, one of the greatest RPG's ever made! Menardi and Saturos were such a great final boss, because if you went in under-leveled, you got your ass kicked by Fusion Dragon, and that thing was tough. Unless you killed the hidden boss in the game first, who is actually stronger than the Fusion Dragon. Dead Beard was my favorite.
@10191927 Minimum level to beat the boss was 28. I succeeded with my last djinn and few hp left... But the most epic is that i had the patience to level it to level 54...where you get stunning attacks ! :D

this is the best quality youtube version of golden sun i have ever seen. usually the sound effects are in sync with the image in the beginning, then it starts to lag behind. but this one, the sound timing is good and the image is in good quality. nice.
@bluewolf98 Pokemon is classic, no doubt, but to say it doesn't need to improve is a lie. I suppose at this point I've grown out of the pokemon craze I had when it came out while I was in 7th grade, but when I tried Diamond on my cousin's DSi last year I was sorely disappointed nothing was made better since Gold/Silver days on GBC.
All I'm asking for is at least make the battles look modern. They are usually 1v1 or 2v2, Golden Sun is 4vsMany on the GBA so why can't Pokemon battles look as epic?
@chrisAKAchig I agree. Every time I look at a pokemon game I go like "That is not the full potential of the game." If Pokemon had fight sequences that were great, then I think sales would go up more. And Pokemon games sell really well as they are now.
@chrisAKAchig Too bad the only times battles in Golden Sun (1,2 and 3) are only at Final bosses or Optional bosses. You can win the rest of fights mostly by just plain attacking. >.> Which is lame.
Fusion Dragon was so pathetic, some summons could easily beat him. Also, using defensive djinn or boosting your defense makes the battle extremely easy. The final boss of Dark Dawn is a lot harder, but once again summons and djinn make it easy :/ Not using Djinn is much more fun, the final boss of DD can easily do 300 damage to your team with ONE hit >_< However, all the Golden Sun games are too easy, the only enemies that propose any difficulty whatsoever are superbosses in extra dungeons.
@pokepuns when facing the boss in GSddD your are usually some levels higher than you are when fighting fusion dragon in GS.. i remember having to fight FD with a lvl 28-31 team. and when I first played GS, i didn't have all the djinn.
btw, it's a good thing that you may attain some of the new summons only after beating the final boss of GSddD..
@JanV34 Well I generally don't grind in games, I just fight every battle i get into. In GS i remember being level 35-ish I think, while in GSDD I was level 45-ish. But even so, Fusion Dragon is far easier than the other final boss. When I first played GS, i had most but not all Djinn and in DD i missed out 5 :P And you can get the summons before the final boss, you just need the Sol Blade. Even if you dont get them, Eclipse is powerful.
@crazyoscar123 You seriously need to get and play the first two games. Let me put it this way, I've asked people and those that have played Golden Sun 1&2 always say they loved it. That's how good they were.
you do realize that to make yourself stronger you need to set the same elemental Djinn as your self. such as Garet having all Mars Djinn, and Isaac having all Venus Djinn
@FlamingRazbeareez This is actually a great djinn setup he has going on. When he uses his djinn he can first let Ivan use wish well to heal, then when he uses up more of them, mia becomes able to use it again. This way he always has a group healer. It made the whole boss a lot easier. If you're without a group healer for like 3 turns, you're dead. As for the getting stronger part, that's just badmouthing the game's intricate mechanics. Every djinn heightens an adepts power in the djinn's element
@FlamingRazbeareez It's a bad idea to do that though because you get pretty bad Psynergy in most cases, and you have worse stats. e.g. Ivan as Sorcerer (All Jupiter) isn't anywhere as good as White Mage or Wizard, which both have Wish healing series and better stats, and Wizard has Impact series while White Mage has Resists+Blunt. Also, Ninja/Conjurer Isaac is far superior to Slayer.
The dialogue isn't that long, so stop complaining.. although i'm probably just used to it after playing MGS4 :p But yeeah, Dark Dawn is pretty awesome, but waay easier than the two games. It seems like there's a new Djinn every 5 steps you take, unlike the previous games where it was a challenge. Also the first half of the game has insanely weak enemies that take like 1 hp xP well, after about 25 hours im finally halfway and not bored at all :D I looove all the golden sun games<3
Checked out the third one yesterday. It looks amazing but I was utterly dissapointed they didn't fix the unnecessarily long dialogue. It also doesn't seem to have enough innovation over the previous titles.
Still need to beat this final boss in the first game, though. That's first on my list before I really delve in Dark Dawn. I haven't played the second one, yet.
@renswisse I don't see why everyone is ranting on about the long dialogue between characters... I mean, I don't even think it's that long in all honesty. Anyway, the game is awesome; the battle system is immensely easy to use, as well as stylish in a gaming sense. However, I think the game's difficulty has gone down a bit... It's definitely a lot easier than the previous two titles I played, in terms of puzzles and mazes. The length of the game has increased... I'm just over halfway at 27 hours.
You know, if you were stronger than this like at level 37 or something, Sateros would probably be spamming Pyroclasm. >_>
I dislike the 3rd Golden Sun Game. Sure I'm just watching the walkthrough, but he just uses djinn in the first round and normals in the second. The boss battles only last 2 rounds! I have barely seen any psynergy. GS 3 sucks from my current view right now.
@furyberserk If you haven't played Golden sun: Dark Dawn, then i feel sorry for you. Sure, it's a bit easy, but it's still pure awesomeness all through the game. The new graphics make even weak psynergies like Flare look awesome! and the story is epic aswell! Maybe you'll love the 4th one more :)
I used to empliy Djinns when I was about to finish with Saturos and Menardi, so I could attack the Dragon with summons. A hard battle if you arrived with (the most common levels, btw) 28-30
this was probably the most epic fight i remembered in my childhood. when they fused, i ran out of ideas, and just only used sword attacks to kick thier ass, cant wait for the new ds game

@Machdude Ummmm.... having a jacked team with the the stongest psynergy, the best possible equipment and all the Djinn and summons is the opposite of "suck at the game"
The concept of skilled is simple. The greater the challenge, the greater the skill. If you beat the game with the best possible stats, equipment and somesuch, you took the easy way out. You might as well have summon rushed every boss in the game.
Fought the final boss with an underlevel party and STILL won? Now THAT is skill.
In any case, the ultimate way to show off your skill with pimped out characters of awesome? Fight Dullahan without summons. Yes I said it.

Unfortunately, your reply only serves to emphasize the fact that you are missing the point. No one is telling you to do otherwise. You can do everything in the game if you like. But quite frankly, hitting the top level, getting the best equipment and suchlike can be done by everyone given time. Low level runs however are much more interesting and show more actual skill because it shows the player can work around the statistical disadvantage. True skill is through intelligence, not brute force.
@Machdude This is an RPG stupid. RPGs are about exploration and adventurer(especially Golden Sun). Having the best of everything meas you took the time and cared about every detail of the adventure (which im sure you didnt). If you show up to the finale boss with half the stuff you could have, that means YOU SUCK at everything this game is about. and thats exploration and adventure in Weyard. Only noobs skip shit and have weak characters then claim to be "skilled"
Quite obviously you know nothing about the concept of challenge. Even in RPG games, there is a level of skill involved which diminishes as newer equipment and higher levels is gotten. In other words, to satisfy the inner munchkin. But this game already has given you something to test any skill you have.
As I said before, want to prove your skill? Go head on against Dullahan with no summons. If you beat him that way, THAT is skilled. There is no other boss in the game that can challenge that.
You also claim only "noobs" "Skip shit". Elementary my boy. Self imposed challenges can find items and not use them. Selling them to be stored is quite easily. Exploration is a given, but even in RPG, there is always the thrill of battles that you know will be a challenge. There are plenty of RPGs that will throw supercharged bosses at you once you have gotten your rainbow pimp gear. On the other hand, this game does not challenge you to do so EXCEPT with Dullahan.
i only got golden sun because some kid bought this DBZ game before i could, but i have to say that was the best goddamn decision i made when it came to choosing games.

@Anotherrnumber I'd recommend Hypercam 2, you can just search for it on here to find how to download it for free (so there's no annoying "Unregistered Hypercam 2" when you record it)

when i play golden sun, i always give the same elemental djinns to the person with that element like i gave all of the venus djinn to isaac, all the mars to garet etc. i just feel like its more simple that way
@macmak3355 I used to do that as well, but now I think the base classes are pushovers compared to the rest of the classes, but in the end, it all comes to our personal preferences.
@orlando1210 What's your favorite classes for each char? I would have the same elements together (venus on Isaac and Felix, etc), because I never had the time to figure out the benefits of the classes.
i remember setting the djins of each element to the guy who controled that element best, didnt make mixes and they all ended so freaking bad ass and strong.
The first time I beat this game was SO EPIC, it came down to Isaac being the only one alive with hardly any HP, I would have lost the next turn but I had one level 4 summon left and I won. A great game and ending for me.

Mía was my healer and ice queen so all djinn were water for her.
Isaac had all the djinn for the judgemnt guy
Garet had all fire djinn.
Ivan had all Thor djinn.

Pokemon still holds up as a great RPG at it's core, but it seems like its still stuck in 10 years ago.
Maybe it's due to my maturity also, but Golden Sun series to me is the best handheld RPG I have ever played. Maybe it isn't much seeing that I gave up on handhelds after GBA SP but I have little doubt in my mind there's much better than Golden Sun out there now.
Not only is GS the best handheld RPG series to me but it matches up with some of the best console/PC JRPG's also imo.

ahh the fusion dragon... i decided it wasnt worth having such a challenge again, so i glitched out and boosted with Saturos and Menardi until lvl 99 then spell/summon boosted, and then took down fusion dragon with 5 pyroclasms from Garret ( you can get it with about 1500 kills with eruption at lvl 65+

Dang... I play this on the original NDS and I am currently trying to find it. Lvl up by fighting Saturos and Menardi and then yourself about halfway through Fusion Dragon

Golden Sun, one of the greatest RPG's ever made! Menardi and Saturos were such a great final boss, because if you went in under-leveled, you got your ass kicked by Fusion Dragon, and that thing was tough. Unless you killed the hidden boss in the game first, who is actually stronger than the Fusion Dragon. Dead Beard was my favorite.

@10191927 Minimum level to beat the boss was 28. I succeeded with my last djinn and few hp left... But the most epic is that i had the patience to level it to level 54...where you get stunning attacks ! :D

this is the best quality youtube version of golden sun i have ever seen. usually the sound effects are in sync with the image in the beginning, then it starts to lag behind. but this one, the sound timing is good and the image is in good quality. nice.

@bluewolf98 Pokemon is classic, no doubt, but to say it doesn't need to improve is a lie. I suppose at this point I've grown out of the pokemon craze I had when it came out while I was in 7th grade, but when I tried Diamond on my cousin's DSi last year I was sorely disappointed nothing was made better since Gold/Silver days on GBC.
All I'm asking for is at least make the battles look modern. They are usually 1v1 or 2v2, Golden Sun is 4vsMany on the GBA so why can't Pokemon battles look as epic?

@chrisAKAchig I agree. Every time I look at a pokemon game I go like "That is not the full potential of the game." If Pokemon had fight sequences that were great, then I think sales would go up more. And Pokemon games sell really well as they are now.

@chrisAKAchig Too bad the only times battles in Golden Sun (1,2 and 3) are only at Final bosses or Optional bosses. You can win the rest of fights mostly by just plain attacking. >.> Which is lame.

Fusion Dragon was so pathetic, some summons could easily beat him. Also, using defensive djinn or boosting your defense makes the battle extremely easy. The final boss of Dark Dawn is a lot harder, but once again summons and djinn make it easy :/ Not using Djinn is much more fun, the final boss of DD can easily do 300 damage to your team with ONE hit >_< However, all the Golden Sun games are too easy, the only enemies that propose any difficulty whatsoever are superbosses in extra dungeons.

@pokepuns when facing the boss in GSddD your are usually some levels higher than you are when fighting fusion dragon in GS.. i remember having to fight FD with a lvl 28-31 team. and when I first played GS, i didn't have all the djinn.
btw, it's a good thing that you may attain some of the new summons only after beating the final boss of GSddD..

@JanV34 Well I generally don't grind in games, I just fight every battle i get into. In GS i remember being level 35-ish I think, while in GSDD I was level 45-ish. But even so, Fusion Dragon is far easier than the other final boss. When I first played GS, i had most but not all Djinn and in DD i missed out 5 :P And you can get the summons before the final boss, you just need the Sol Blade. Even if you dont get them, Eclipse is powerful.

you do realize that to make yourself stronger you need to set the same elemental Djinn as your self. such as Garet having all Mars Djinn, and Isaac having all Venus Djinn

@FlamingRazbeareez This is actually a great djinn setup he has going on. When he uses his djinn he can first let Ivan use wish well to heal, then when he uses up more of them, mia becomes able to use it again. This way he always has a group healer. It made the whole boss a lot easier. If you're without a group healer for like 3 turns, you're dead. As for the getting stronger part, that's just badmouthing the game's intricate mechanics. Every djinn heightens an adepts power in the djinn's element

@FlamingRazbeareez It's a bad idea to do that though because you get pretty bad Psynergy in most cases, and you have worse stats. e.g. Ivan as Sorcerer (All Jupiter) isn't anywhere as good as White Mage or Wizard, which both have Wish healing series and better stats, and Wizard has Impact series while White Mage has Resists+Blunt. Also, Ninja/Conjurer Isaac is far superior to Slayer.

The dialogue isn't that long, so stop complaining.. although i'm probably just used to it after playing MGS4 :p But yeeah, Dark Dawn is pretty awesome, but waay easier than the two games. It seems like there's a new Djinn every 5 steps you take, unlike the previous games where it was a challenge. Also the first half of the game has insanely weak enemies that take like 1 hp xP well, after about 25 hours im finally halfway and not bored at all :D I looove all the golden sun games<3

Checked out the third one yesterday. It looks amazing but I was utterly dissapointed they didn't fix the unnecessarily long dialogue. It also doesn't seem to have enough innovation over the previous titles.
Still need to beat this final boss in the first game, though. That's first on my list before I really delve in Dark Dawn. I haven't played the second one, yet.

@renswisse I don't see why everyone is ranting on about the long dialogue between characters... I mean, I don't even think it's that long in all honesty. Anyway, the game is awesome; the battle system is immensely easy to use, as well as stylish in a gaming sense. However, I think the game's difficulty has gone down a bit... It's definitely a lot easier than the previous two titles I played, in terms of puzzles and mazes. The length of the game has increased... I'm just over halfway at 27 hours.

I dislike the 3rd Golden Sun Game. Sure I'm just watching the walkthrough, but he just uses djinn in the first round and normals in the second. The boss battles only last 2 rounds! I have barely seen any psynergy. GS 3 sucks from my current view right now.

@furyberserk If you haven't played Golden sun: Dark Dawn, then i feel sorry for you. Sure, it's a bit easy, but it's still pure awesomeness all through the game. The new graphics make even weak psynergies like Flare look awesome! and the story is epic aswell! Maybe you'll love the 4th one more :)

I used to empliy Djinns when I was about to finish with Saturos and Menardi, so I could attack the Dragon with summons. A hard battle if you arrived with (the most common levels, btw) 28-30

High level team: EXP grinding, skill not required.
All Djinn: Can be found at anytime.
Strong Psynergy: Benefit of the above.
Best Equipment: Grinding for cash and looking for treasure.
Summoning: Pansy... Fight like a man!
Result: Easy mode.
A skilled player does not need high levels or god equipment to overpower a boss through sheer bulk.

The concept of skilled is simple. The greater the challenge, the greater the skill. If you beat the game with the best possible stats, equipment and somesuch, you took the easy way out. You might as well have summon rushed every boss in the game.
Fought the final boss with an underlevel party and STILL won? Now THAT is skill.
In any case, the ultimate way to show off your skill with pimped out characters of awesome? Fight Dullahan without summons. Yes I said it.

Unfortunately, your reply only serves to emphasize the fact that you are missing the point. No one is telling you to do otherwise. You can do everything in the game if you like. But quite frankly, hitting the top level, getting the best equipment and suchlike can be done by everyone given time. Low level runs however are much more interesting and show more actual skill because it shows the player can work around the statistical disadvantage. True skill is through intelligence, not brute force.

@Machdude This is an RPG stupid. RPGs are about exploration and adventurer(especially Golden Sun). Having the best of everything meas you took the time and cared about every detail of the adventure (which im sure you didnt). If you show up to the finale boss with half the stuff you could have, that means YOU SUCK at everything this game is about. and thats exploration and adventure in Weyard. Only noobs skip shit and have weak characters then claim to be "skilled"

Quite obviously you know nothing about the concept of challenge. Even in RPG games, there is a level of skill involved which diminishes as newer equipment and higher levels is gotten. In other words, to satisfy the inner munchkin. But this game already has given you something to test any skill you have.
As I said before, want to prove your skill? Go head on against Dullahan with no summons. If you beat him that way, THAT is skilled. There is no other boss in the game that can challenge that.

You also claim only "noobs" "Skip shit". Elementary my boy. Self imposed challenges can find items and not use them. Selling them to be stored is quite easily. Exploration is a given, but even in RPG, there is always the thrill of battles that you know will be a challenge. There are plenty of RPGs that will throw supercharged bosses at you once you have gotten your rainbow pimp gear. On the other hand, this game does not challenge you to do so EXCEPT with Dullahan.

The first time I beat this game was SO EPIC, it came down to Isaac being the only one alive with hardly any HP, I would have lost the next turn but I had one level 4 summon left and I won. A great game and ending for me.
