hey brian i just recently got a super pastel snake from a friend that didnt want her ....she is beautiful and has been hand tamed since birth ...i love snakes and i wanted her so bad ...but im nervous that she wont like me and im nervous to take her out and get bit...??? any advice?
First off handle her as often as you can. While holding her, face her head away from you. Be genltle with her and don't pet the snake's head. Give the snake free rain of it's head. It is not uncommon for a ball python to feel threatened when their heads are messed withle. If you have anymore questions feel free to call me at 408-981-6694
Don't worry about getting bit, it's really not that bad.
Man, too bad you live so far away. I would love to help out, but I live in San D. Great videos though, very informative, and beautiful, well cared for animals.
i have an adolescent normal female and pastel male about 1.5 ft long, and a female spider about 3.5 ft long (don't know weight).. how often should i feed them? i feed the small ones a feeder mice each once a week and the spider i feed her a small rat every week. Thanks
He is Beautiful!!!! Not that I am surprised! Love your videos! And behind the times? Every animal I have ever seen of yours is top of line and well cared for! I don't care what it is you are breeding or keeping you have such a passion and I hope it passes on to others. I myself am just getting started with the ball pythons as I have always loved them and find your videos oh so helpful! Thanks so so much for all you do for the industry and for us by sharing!!!
just go my female pastel a nice male one to breed with its my first time breeding snakes and cant wait for the result both are adult and are ready to breed :)
Also a question could you bread a lemon pastel with a nice regular pastel to get a super pastel or or even breading 2 lemons to get something like a super lemon?
If you breed any 2 pastels together you wil most likely produce a super pastel. If you breed 2 lemon pastels together you will produce super lemon pastels.
You really have some of the best looking ball pythons I have ever seen. I've seen most of your vids and all of them are just beautiful animals. You really have your own style when it comes to selective breading and the results are amazing!
hey mr. gundy my name is steve and i have a normal ball that i just purchased from a pet store about a month ago and i was told "he" is 4yr. old but "he" only weighs 843g at last weigh and he has eaten every 16 days and u have this pastel thats 1000g at 2yr. how often does this snake eat?
He's really keeping in his colors pretty well nice snake Brian I hope to purchase a male from you soon private message me if you are interested in making a negotiation thank you
I can't tell you what all super pastels look like and I can't honestly tell you what my reputation is, but with me it's all about having and producing quality animals.
You should be able to find plenty of super pastels from those you have mentioned . If you can't find any, check back with me later in the season and I should have several for sell.
Nice breeding. I'd love to see what some selective breeding with that guy. It was really interesting going to Greg Graziani's facility and to hear what he said about selective breeding, and to see his original pastel which looked like a normal. I would breed him to another superpastel, super X super has never been done, you just might hit on a super DUPER pastel. lol. But If each generation of pastels keeps getting brighter, just imagine the potential!
I remember talking to Greg G many years ago, he told me that he bred his original pastel to an almost melanistic normal. It was disapointing to hear him say that, because as a breeder I would have done just the oposite with that initial breeding. I've always said that we can learn from other's mistakes just as much as we can learn from our own.
I'm looking forward to breeding this guy back to his mother.
Yea, i guess thats why he bred the cinimon to light normals after he bred the pastel to dark ones. But still, after all his experience, now he can sure produce a mean looking snake, I really loved seeing the cinny clown in person, and the leopards were impressive too. Oh, and you were on Reptile Radio recently correct?
Your welcome! I love Pastaves, and Pastel Pieds! And of course who could pass up a bumble bee! :) Breeding is going well for me thanks! Got an early start this time around! Eggs due in a month or so! Plus colubrids will be warming soon!! :)
Thanks! I love the colubrids... not fond of the bulk up periods though, I seem to get bitten more the first couple weeks. It's like they are really hungry, like they havent eaten in months! haha. Thanks, and same to you! :)
I usually don't. If I sell out of a morph, and still have a high demand, if my female is back up to a healthy weight and I think she can take it, I may have her breed again. Usually, I have enough from one season to last the year with no problems! :)
@zucabrasil if you breed a pastel to a clown half of the babies will hatch out pastels and the other half will hatch out normals, but all of the babies will be het for clown. When you breed a super pastel to a clown all of the babies will hatch out pastels and all of them will be het for clown. The best part about breeding a super pastel to anything is that you don't end up with normals. Remember it's the same with any co dominant gene trait, ie butter, leser
That is really nice to know for my future projects. When i get a super pastel from my pair of pastels, if it is a male, i can use him as a breeder and retire my male pastel.

What is the diffecence when you breed a super pastel to a clown instead of just a pastel to a clown?

@zucabrasil if you breed a pastel to a clown half of the babies will hatch out pastels and the other half will hatch out normals, but all of the babies will be het for clown.
