Nice playing, not the greatest performance in the world, but good all the same. More attention to articulation will help keep your sound from becoming lost in the band. Sound takes time, keep playing and it will come.
Devil's Rag isn't what I would call a "classical" piece. It's more of a RAG. :-P It's a fun song, the inflections and stuff work well with it. Good job dude.
I think the jazz inflections and sound are fine for the piece. Maybe the guy plays more classical-sounding on a classical piece. He'd have been getting direction from the band leader wouldn't he? I reckon the guy's doing pretty good.
MatteSelmer "Are you chineese or japanese? I would guess japanese", what's that got to do with it? If I was Chinese/Japanese I might take offence. In fact as a white European I might take offence. What do you mean by that comment?
I'm just a saxophone player trying to help the young man on his classical technique. I gave constructive criticism on what the young man could do to improve; I see no harm in that. If you do, well, sorry.
I assume this is a classical performance. If this is your idea of classical saxophone, it needs to be honed on. Your tone, sound, and style is too jazz oriented for a classical approach. You need some vibrato, warmer sound, and no growls or crap like that in a classical performance. Your technique is very well rounded, however. Just work on your classical chops. Just my two cents.
Nice job!; i can't believe im saying this but there is Too much blend lol. u should stand out a little more; its hard to distinguish u from the clarinets
