Wow... "Float On" really was a good choice for a background song - I now think of it as the anthem of the St. Anthony Falls Bridge Opening. I bet if you did back into a cop car that day (18-Sep-08) he would have just drove on, engrossed in the celebrations.
surprisingly i was in that mass of cars i remember driving around minneapolis randomly the whole night me and my brother were siked i cried when we went across it was like a calmness was back with all of us
Cool coincidence - that was the song I was listening to when I first drove over the bridge later that day! And I was thinking what appropriate lyrics...
Well, finally drove over it tonight... had no reason to go South, but I just had to see it in person. And waited until nighttime so I could see that beautiful glow and the river markers. That is a fantastic and beautiful bridge, I don't care what anyone says. :)
Okay so everything is opened up again right, does that mean that my GPS is no longer 'outdated' in the fact that I would come up to the 35w closed sign and have to work my way to the 7th st bridge or whatever it was? If so, I'm glad I didn't get a new one with 'updated' maps or I would be sad now.
It's funny, I normally would dislike someone recording a TV broadcast and especially adding their own music... but somehow you've made it perfect and quite moving. I applaud you.
And dammit, I should've been there, I'm in freakin' Coon Rapids... would've gone to work tired as hell, but...!!

Wish I could have been there at the opening. We drove across during the day back in October going 65 mph and it felt too normal.

agreed on all accounts (except that I live in uptown). I wouldn't have expected this to be so moving for me.

I hope that brings some closure to those who had losses, and that the community is ready to go forward.
