Lt. Ehren Watada is an honorable citizen and human being. I salute his decision, no matter what the outcome may be... it takes courage to stand up for your beliefs and to stand up for others, and to stand against agression. Lt. Watada stands for the people, and is more deserving of the peace price than ANY politician.
Standing up against the US military is good training for leadership.
I stood up against the US military during the 1961 invasion of Cuba. It was a mutiny. My only supporters were 15 sailors & my mother Irene & fathers Henry & Iren.
I did not care what they did to me.
I was not going to invade Cuba.
I was giving a year of punishment duty for refusing Cuba & then Vietnam.
why didnt you? like most that do... it was probly for a damn job... a very small few do it as an act to surve this backwards country... and yes its becoming a crap hole.
He had the intelligence and courage to voice to all Americans. people like this can stand against and expose this puppet-bureaucracy. Thank you Watada
I am so proud of you,I am so impressed with your understanding of what's at stake and your duty and honor toward that goal is without question. You are a true American.
With Article 9 of Japanese constitution, you are NOT obligated to deploy for war, especially under the US flag the very country that made Japan not go to war.
Watadasan, rather being courtmarshalled, just return to Japan. Just like Fujimori returned to Japan from Peru, so you should return to Japan.
This country has deserted its soldiers in their greatest time of need.
We live in a weak illusion of a democracy, pull back the veil and you will see the true fascism that rules this land.
Our senate and congress back a corrupt administration. We must take our country back if ever it was ours. Innocent people are dying for our lack of attention.
This young man is expressing himself quietly and respectfully, not cursing, name-calling or referring to any person or group. What is the definition of contemptous words if profanities on the floor of the Senate which the VP did, is not? I don't see anywhere in Article 88 that says a soldier cannot present a dissenting view anywhere in the world.
For an easy to understand lesson on International Law and what the U.S. agreed to when joining the U.N., see "The Iraq War: Legal or Illegal?" by The Pinky Show, on YouTube. ONLY THEN can you decide if this is a truly illegal war. I AM SO PROUD OF THIS LEARNED MAN! more in the military should have his COURAGE! READ THE CONSTITUTION! Google Ron Paul LEARN ABOUT TRUE FREEDOM! VOTE FOR RON PAUL-The ONLY candidate who for 20 years has voted in accordance with the CONSTITUTION! GOD SAVE OUR REPUBLIC!
"Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Transportation, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct."
This man is a hero and he is very intelligent. I believe one of the points that he makes is very important. That an army that will blindly turn on the people they are supposed to protect is no army that he would want to participate in. I believe that it is a signal to an army that is asked to turn on its own people to turn on the ones giving the orders.

This is something I have watched from the start. Now after his mistrial, I came to wonder what would have happened if this trial went either way. I only wish Watada the best, for he fights a bigger battle.
This man needs the support of ALL of US! Perhaps WE should hold a countrywide strike from work, for two days, if he is found quilty, and punished for his heroism?!
This man is a true American soldier.

If we are to make progress we must make the connection between the underlying law of nature and the subject of this talk.

Thank you Lt. Watada. You are a wise and brave man.
This speech is one of the best I have ever heard. It reminds me of the heart felt speech Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. gave about the Vietnam War.

Article 88—Contempt toward officials

Thank you, Watada! I wish to express my disgust for Terry (Terri?) Glotfelty and her unpleasant verbosity.
May Watada triumph and shine as an example, and may citizens such as Glotfelty be reduced to the shame they SHOULD be feeling now.
