  • I heard from the actor Simon Williams that the sets were built and used in between filming of WTW and the original Upstairs Downstairs. Both made in LWT Southbank studios 1 and 2, then called Kent House, before i was even a twinkle in my father's eye. I have seen one episode of WTW on satellite. Not impressed.

  • Oh, well, a hybrid of Myra Desmon and Merle Jones...

  • I also spotted someone who likes a bit like Myra Desmond....

  • Happy birthday Googie Withers 93 today Hubby John McCallam 92 on the 13 March so apparently they celebrate together on March 12 how romantic. Happy birthday from your fans.

  • I've just watched the series 2 DVD set, really enjoyed it,hope series 3 comes out soon.

I know Googie leaves after series3 but Id still but buy the other series.

  • Bugger me! There was better acting my school play!

  • Did the officers always refer to the prisoners by first name in this series, like in Prisoner?

  • in prisoner they referred to them by their last names

some of these sets or surrounings look like what they used in Bad Girls. they used Oxford in Bad Girls but then a set.

  • please can you upload more clips

  • Am really glad to see theres so many within these walls fans out there. THIS is the series that inspired Reg Watson to create Prisoner cell block H, and Stonepark is VERY much the same prison set as Larkhall Prison in Bad Girls. I think for an early to late 1970's programme the sets are really good. it was a really good series all round.

  • My Auntie saw Googie on a plane to Aus in the late 70's. Wonder if she was off to meet the govener of Wentworth? lol

  • Funny when you look at Patsy King who played Erica Davidson the governor in Prisoner how simular she looks to Googie Wither/Faye Boswell, then you get Jim Fletcher the deputy in Prisoner looking simular to Mr Radley the deputy in Within these Walls. Luv prisoner though, always have always will. But you can so see where they got the idea from.

  • They did get the idea of PCBH from WTW and Patsy is very like Googie. I thought that Googie might have been going to Aus to advise some of the actors/writers.

  • yeah u never know! us Adamski era people know best lol

  • asolutely...is armitage like bennet too?

  • @jiggarypokery They actually wanted Googie Withers to play Erica Davidson in Prisoner Cell Block H

  • was that sherry houston @ 2.50? looked and sounded like her.

  • Yes it was Sherry Houston lol Pam St.Clement/Pat Butcher AND Linda Robson both had parts in the series aswell, and probably more well known actresses now that am not aware of. I've Seen Mona Bruce/Mrs Armitage in some kids t.v programme a few years back but i wonder what the rest have done since?

  • Mona Bruce sadly dies last year,Jerome Willis(Mr Radley) died a few years ago,I understand.

  • Dont know but I hope it's soon Googie looked wonderful.

Of course she is not in through all the series, which I forgot about.

  • I've just got series 1 on DVD,treally enjoyed it when is series 2 out on DVD?

  • I think it depends on how well series 2 sold.

I have an excerpt on my channel, you would of seen it already if you have the DVDs.

  • You can of course buy it on dvd now and at a bargain price most places, 4 dvds series 1 and I have.

  • blimey this is old, i do vaguley remember this Googy Withers lol
