This is one of the best episodes of Grey's Anatomy I've seen, although I think they could of structured the end of 2.17 a lot better. Like seriously, the bomb guy gets blown up and the OR hallway is basically destroyed, yet all they focus on is that stupid lady and meredith and derek's last kiss. You'd think they would of devoted more attention towards how the patient was after, and repairing the OR floor and the bomb guy.

@mmiyoung If you watch the whole episode, they show the bomb guy put the jacket on Meredith earlier in the episode. It wasn't difficult but they had to be very still.

Like when Meredith takes it out and the song lyrics go "It's no longer inside of me, threatening the life it belongs to", or how the piano goes perfectly with the heart beat. Perfectness. Def. the best Grey's episode ever in my opinion!

It's really all very well for them to be wearing padded jackets, but if they aren't wearing any protective head gear they're still going to be in a bit of trouble if the bomb explodes, aren't they?

really greys anatomy is just a bit overdramatized if the rocket enters the persons body, is transported by car or heli, rushed into the OR, all without blowing up, moving a half inch wont do it. You have to assume that in the at least 30 minutes from when the bomb entered to when the paramedic touched, a late arming would have occured
The thing that pisses me off the most about is that the episode doesn't even reference the bomb squad dying. It just goes into a cheesy scene between Grey and Sheppard and their first kiss. C'mon people! 3 PEOPLE VAPORIZED INTO MIST!!! lol
Maybe the writers recognized what you're saying because they brought Bomb Squad guy back to explain his fate to Meredeth in the S3 episode "Some Kind of Miracle." (His fate would have been the same as the others in the squad.)
Seeing Bomb Squad guy again in S3 suggested to me that Meredeth (and the viewers) was never okay with what happened and needed some closure.
I'm totally with you on that one. Also why was he just walking with it down the hallway? Wouldn't that at least be cleared? Wouldn't the bomb be put in one of those bomb box things they use?
@abrondarbit , I believe the hallway was cleared, minus Meredith and the other person at eh end of the hallway in the black Kevlar vest. Also, those "bomb boxes" are too big to be put inside a hallway. I do agree however, that there is a lack of realism. That explosive would've done much more damage than what was portrayed. Also, Meridith would be dead due to shrapnel and concussive force. And EOD would've been much more involved in a scenario like this. It wouldn't have gone off.
@noxcovenant Your comment is understandable, but the show really doesn't harp on death. The bomb squad was there to do their job, and so were the surgeons. The show is more about saving lives then dwelling on lost ones.

Plus a 2 episode return in flashback w/Denny the following season. (Both shows have the same casting director.) So, it worked out good for the bomb squad guy. ;)

there was a man who was shooting with a buzuka (i don't know how you are supposed to write it because i'm dutch). he shot the bomb in the body of his son but the bomb didn't explode, so they went to Seattle Grace Hospital.
There were two friends who built a homemade replic of a bazooka from World War II...It didn't shoot so one of 'em went in front of the big cannon to see what went wrong and it shot.But the bomb stayed inside of him...SO they took him to SGH
It was Tucker, Bailey's husband who had an accident on his way to the hospital, where his wife was giving birth. So, yes, he was an important patient...

It's thanks to Kyle Chandler that I love GA.
This episode was the first I watched.
I didn't really like the show and I always thought it was just about sex.
Anyway, when I saw him in the show, I said "OH MY GOD, I love this actor ! He is so freakin' talented !". I hoped he would have a love story with Meredith because they had a great chemistry but then, he died and that's why I love GA now.
