  • Any reason you didn't go fish tank, filter, gravel grow bed, then DWC, Sump, and then return to fish tank? Or Fish tank, filter, DWC, gravel grow bed, sump, and return to fish tank?

  • @MrMadmax478 I can certainly go that way ( FT to FND to DWC and to FT) but I will have to use the last compartment as a sump. I am using the last compartment as a MBF right now and the MBF would require aeration. If I place a pump in the MBF with aeration, there is a high possibility that the pump will suck in air bubbles and cause cavitation which will wear the pump impeller quickly.

  • @MrMadmax478 To minimize impeller pitting in the DWC which also has aeration, the pump has its own small sump inside the DWC and the airstone is also located away from the pump. The current config right now is FT overflow to the Filter then to the DWC/ Sump then to a bypass which goes to the FND and to the FT.

  • nice! but is there any reason why there aren't too many plants now, or you just started the system... i was thinking, our weather in the philippines is similar to some parts in australia and we are capable of achieving the amazing results like those of murray hallam et. al.

  • @ygermino 1st reason its rainy season. No sun no growth. The plants also get battered in the rain and typhoons. 2nd Reason its a startup system.

  • what is the advanage of the added filtration system?

  • @starwave1967 You can have a larger fish density and longer time before the need to clean your growbeds from accumulated solids.

  • Looking good bro
