  • can´t stop looking at his eyes...*_*

  • I like your youtube user name.

  • Thanks for posting mate!

  • If you want to see this pic proper like. Go to a site called imagekind. Ive had this pic for a while on my puter and id say its him and I do think he's a dish with or without his shades!

  • My understanding was that he's the rare celebrity who is smart enough to wear his disguise on stage so that he can go out on the street and not be recognised when he's looking normal.

  • i must say...i never thought he'd be attractive. yet without glasses, he is...(my oppinion: no dissing :) )

which poses the question: why are there only three pictures of him on the web without glasses? did he have the glasses accidentally glued on?

i get that an image is an image, but overdoing it, is overdoing it.

  • voice is real, picture is real

  • Guys stop dissin' Andy's eyes, the man is a LOOKER

  • thats what the eyes are for, generally :P

sorry, that was awful, i know... xD

  • no it wasn't awful, it made me smile :)) heehee :P

  • where did u find his pic without galssesss\\\\ im seaching sincea lifeeeeeeee i wnat see his eyes

  • As a heavy S-O-M fan, I spend alot of time listening to his material...This is likely to be a test rig track to test the concept prior to rerecording and down-mixing. And if those who dis believe the audio sequence sampling, check out some of the tracks from The Gift album...his rushed through anti-wayne album. I rest my case

  • Also as a huge SOM fan, I to have heard their demo's. I also happen to have 2 music trackers on my computer... SOM demo's where put on tapes, not digital.

    (Even in the 90's.)

All the other SOM demo's I have heard have a much more analog quality. This is VERY digital.

Listen to "Wide Receiver" or maybe "Driver"

I think its fairly obvious that this is fake.

Its very good for a tracked version though.

  • This is a fake.

It was made in a modern music tracker, And the voice was ripped, he says the lines exactly the same way, every time.

Either way that picture is awesome.

"Oh yeah look at my eyes... You want to doooo it with me...

    I know you want to..."

  • idunno why you'd say it's not a legit TSOM demo just because the same vocal clips are reused - considering he probably programmed up the song himself on some old-school sampler and drum machine... I'm inclined to believe this is a genuine demo, especially having firsthand experience seeing the difference between bands' demos and final versions ;)

  • Well he did do SSV.

So it could be, but i personally have a hard time with this one.

  • this aint AE.there were some pics of him without glasses-and he looks different, even the nose..

  • I feel like I'm on a date with Andrew Eldritch in 1985 and he's trying to seduce me.

This demo sounds like it was made with a Commodore 64 or a Casio keyboard. Amazing they got any records produced.

  • it's him -period-

and I think there might be a copyright on that picture.

  • Eww andy, put your glasses on

  • Frankly I don't understand why some people here don't think that is Andrew Eldritch. Okay, I know it's hard to picture him without his glasses looking the same as he does with them, but if you check out the site this picture came from (Phillipe Carly's), then you will see this under Sisters of Mercy. And besides, why would anyone waste their time looking for some guy that kind of looks like Eldritch but isn't actually him just to fuck with our heads??? Honestly, who has that kind of time?

  • He is without glasses, but he is the guy, really. In the site- newwavephotos you can find the other photos.

  • Is that a moog synthesizer; does anyone else notice he only sings the chorus, the same, over and over; that may be synthetic too. Although I find it most endearing and I am unable to resist it's quaint charm. Rare? I suppose. Authentic? I don't know. If imitation is the highest form of flattery; then this is a good one.

  • It exactly IS Andrew Eldritch.

  • I agree, there's no way that can be Eldritch in the photo. His face has a very different bone structure (the nose in particular).

  • Ok, you've made your point, thank you for posting this 4 times. Now move on.

  • Gorgeous... Wish i could meet him....

  • excuse me but that is not a picture of Andrew Eldritch. I've met him and the reason he always wears shades is because he's cross eyed. Seriously - I know its a shame but its the truth. He's like a modern day Roy Orbison except that Roy's eyes were too close together.

  • Did you really have to post that 4 times ?

It's not true anyway , there are more pictures of him without shades , and he's not crosseyed .I know he doesn't look like this anymore (this picture was taken when he was 25 , and he's 48 now...) but he's still a very attractive man .

  • No seriously - i knew Andrew from Leeds University in 1978. I think he was studying chinese at the time. Andy Taylor as everyone knew him then. But we all used to call him Pontoon Eyes. You know, because one eye was twisted and the other was bust. Needless to say he didn't take it very well. And he always used to bang on about Shakespeare like he knew what he was talking about. Quite annoying really - but its nice to see he's done well for himself. The Shades obviously done trick.

  • anyone got the audio file?

  • Ah, it's Andrew de Bergerac without his shades. :)

It's fascinating to hear Eldritch sing this alongside James Ray. I like the wavering way Eldritch sings the chorus - almost sounds like he's got the choir parts in his head and is trying to imitate them.

  • Blatantly Eldritch. Any true fan will tell you that.... i've loved the Sisters since early eighties, caught them a couple of times way back when, not original line up but the Hussey one. Best band to walk the planet(Black obv), bar none.

  • Gorgeous. With or without shades, short or long hair, dark or blond. And that voice.... who cares if he's short.

  • excuse me but that is not a picture of Andrew Eldritch. I've met him and the reason he always wears shades is because he's cross eyed. Seriously - I know its a shame but its the truth. He's like a modern day Roy Orbison except that Roy's eyes were too close together.

  • This must be one of the few photos of A.E without shades.... very nice to see his eyes. Good looking also :)

  • That doesen't sound very much like Eldritch.

  • his voice sounds wierd compared to the original, i don't think it's eldritch to be honest

  • Eldritch does sing on this demo, but he isn't singing the majority of the parts. Most of the song and the chorus isn't him.

  • He has such a lovely voice.

I find him quite attractive, with or without the shades.

  • why all the exclamation marks....oh and nice job on ruining the song...hate remixes

  • what's interesting is to hear the evolution between gift and floodland.

  • I find him as seductive with or without the shades.

  • Yep he's a hottie :)

  • It's Andrew--WITHOUT A DOUBT. He has the SWEETEST face here. The sunglasses are for image purposes only.

  • ive followed the sisters for years and this is the first pic ive seen with out the shades ( except a shades half off the nose shot in an old fan mag ) .great pic ... well done ! this is him singing though , im sure of it .

  • @romad2007 ,I think he looks very handsome & attractive

  • bah, even worse than my LP "in the shadow of angels" which only contains demo versions and so called Karaoke versions of wide receiver, walk away, Marian, black planet, temple of love (demo version!) and an unusual track for me called candle...

  • when the ideas have dried up bring in the producer

  • Thanks for posting this, I have never heard their demos. This is an interesting embrionic version indeed!

  • The picture is from 1983.

  • Thanks for uploading this one!

I think it's James Ray who's singing most of the parts, not Von. Can anyone confirm this?

  • I don't have any hard evidence other than years and years of listening to Von, but it's definately not him. Even if he weren't singing as deep, there isn't any waver or wail to the voice as it's stressed, which is one of the key features of Von's singing voice.

  • I can't believe you're even debating this. Haven't you ever heard of post-production?

    Three questions

    1) who else would be singing on a DEMO of this song? Think carefully...

    2) re: no "waver" or "wail", have you listened to the chorus? It's quite wobbly.

    3) Are you seriously suggesting that having listened to the Sisters "for years" you can't recognise the way he sings in this?

  • From the offical The Sisters of Mercy website:

'It's the German version of the "van" before a Dutch family (place)name, or the "de" in French. Etc. Hundreds of years ago it may have implied aristocracy. Tony James decided to point out that I was hanging out in Hamburg rather more than Halifax. '

  • I agree with AerikVon, this is very awkward

  • eldrith looks like a goon without shades...andy keep the mystery you are not a handsome guy

  • You know what is funny? I look stupid with sunglasses on, but I am otherwise very handsom.

  • I don't agree with you. I think he's sexy with or without the glasses

  • This must be just one layer of the vocal's self-harmonies.

  • Ah....well, I must be one of the few people that doesn't find this sort of stuff awkward or embarrassing. I really enjoy these views of a track in its fetal stage...although I like the vocals on the other demo better, sounds too routine here.

You should do some of NIN's PHM demos...so people can see what a really good producer and audio engineer can do for artists.

  • Is that Mr. Bean or Mr. Eldritch in the piture? =P

  • :-) The pic is quite old.

  • What an awkward demo.

  • that's what livingrooms sound like indeed. thanks a lot.

guess you couldn't find any portrait/picture in the world, that eldritch wouldn't be more upset about being published than this one...

better watch out for his laywers ;)

  • The picture is freely available on Google. Do an image search for Andrew Eldritch and it's the 3rd or 4th pic.

  • Wow this has opened my eyes to see what a producer like Jim Steiman can do to a track. Thanks for posting.
