I'm not expert here but everything I've been told over and over seems pretty consistent that you never put oil in the bore of your barrel... Solvents yes, but soaking in oil?? Not too sure about that tip.
does high temp wheel bearing greas work well ? i want something that will stick on the rails and not ear up my polymer gun , also my dad is an aircraft mech. and he uses something called " LPS" it works great for lubing and has staying power . but its not heavy and can run. is it safe ? its say its petroliem based. any ideas thanks much
You said it "best" The purpose of posting videos is to "learn from each other, and what this is all about". Unlike others, they post their videos to show how superior and high and mighty they are in the subject matter, and what they say goes and your thoughts and comments are not wanted nor tolerated. Good job!
excellent job, the only thing I would basically change is NOT to clean the barrel from the muzzle end to the chamber basically because you run the risk of knicking or damaging the crown on the muzzle and any type of defect on the muzzle will change the bullet's trajectory. But otherwise nice job. 1 new subscriber
Is a glock 19 a good 9mm? Anyone have any input or anyone have any problems with theirs?....im curious because i just bought one today and been surfin the net on stuff about the 19. All positive so far! cant wait to go to the range!
Glocks don't really need to be lubed, matter of fact they really don't even need to be cleaned very often. Clean with Clenzoil, and put the "smallest" amount of Clenzoil on the slide rails. That is all you need and honestly want to do. This a pistol that doesn't like oil or lube, all that really does in many guns is attract gunpowder, grit and about everything else. Avoid the temptation to overlube and oil........BAD!!!!
Unless your gun is extremely dirty you don't need solvent. You can use solvent in the bore and just dry brush everything else and then wipe it down. Then re-lubricate and or grease. I generally shot 200-300 rounds at the range a few times a month and I never have to use Solvent for any thing other than the bore with with a patch or a good bore snake.
Every so often I give my pistols a good once over and check 4 wear and tear. I would ditch the rem oil and go with CLP or the shooters choice trio
not a very good idea. i would use break free to loosen the grit, but i wouldn't just cycle it through it. all that dirt and copper shavings are going to be rubbing against the mechanics and will wear down the weapon a lot faster and cause jamming. but that's my drill Sargent yelling at me. :)
i hear you brother but theres not a guy wearing white gloves inspecting most peoples guns after they clean it. You know what im talking about. Glocks are amazing and Im just making a point, you really dont have to clean em for them to be flawless.
I got my glock and said i wasnt gona clean it till it started givin me problems> 5000 rds later I just felt bad for not cleaning it and just did it cause i wanted my gun to look as good as it ran
aren't u supposed to spray the components down with breakfree and let them sit then clean all the dirt and grim away?? i'm just starting so ya gotta forgive tha dumbass questions
Rem Oil is a LUBRICANT. You need to get something that eats carbon, lead, and copper fowling. (hoppes #9...birchwood casey gun scrubber)
or use CLP which is a mix of Clean-Lubricate-and-Protect.
I too use a bore snake, but realize that even though it has more surface area, it really doesn't clean a well as a series of tight fitting patches. Of course I don't believe a handgun barrel needs to be totally clean (after all, 1 shot later the gun is going to be dirty)
im just saying that it may be a good idea to use patches and not paper towel becous ther are made from trees witch have verry small wood fibers that may scrach your dura coat...
Good video. Suggestion though, youre not supposed to run your metal bristle through the barrel both directions. Only towards the end away from the lug
Thanks for the info man. I just bought a Glock 19 a few days ago so I real appreciate the info how to clean and oil it. Any advice for a revolver? I also have a 38.
Great Vids! I've been goin from one to the next all night! I bought a Glock 19 today! Now I just have to figure out where I can get ammo! Everyone's out of stock. Thanks for posting the Glock and Survival vids!
I got a question I got a smith and wesson 40 and its kinda simillar to that gun so this was very helpful and thanks. Now to my qwuestion where did you get that rem oil at? My gun get really dirty and dark after shooting and I saw that was good for the outside of the gun, where can I buy that product at?
I was looking for a video on how to clean a gun and especialy a Glock 19.Very good one!
I love your videos and the fact that you are always humble, you do know a lot about many things but you dont claim to be expert and better than anyone else.
Yeah it's a great product. They need to figure something out with the "straw" that comes with the non airosol kind. I always end making a mess with it one way or another. The left over oil in the straw ends up dripping out, and if you leave it inserted into the top you cannot close the lid. Thanks
I use breakfree gun oil , I used to use their solovent but i found that on the plastic parts , it really played hell and melted those pieces. So now I just use hopes nitro solovent.
i've used WD/40 on my guns before, and i've heard that can be bad for them. I've generally disregarded this because the main ingredient is the same as in gun oil.
This Spring when I pulled out my Ruger 10/22 and there was a little rust on it. I wonder if i stored it with too much oil on it, or if there was moisture in the case.
Good Video Ryan. Question about the Bore Snake, Is there a recommended way to clean it. Its seem it would collect all the dirt and you wouldn't want to rerun it through the barrel. I've never used one. I've gone with brush first, then mophead and patches till clean then a dry patch.
I've had it for a few months and I haven't cleaned it. It seems to be working fine. I don't remember what the directions said either. I'm sure you could prob handwash it. Thanks!!!
great video...very helpful...one question...do the products that you just used apply to airsoft gun...(can I use the products in your vid to maintain a airsoft gun?)
Hey so I have NOT ever used a bore snake but I have been considering it. Just one question what happens when it becomes really dirty?

you should put your bore snake thru the breach end and come out the exit side.

I would think a can of compressed air would work good on getting any debris out of the small holes in the slider.

Good suggestion! it's imporatnt to try not to get anything in there in the first place. Over time it will get gunked up if oil gets in there. Thanks

wd40 works great on my 870, hanger upside down and spritz it down. On my pricier guns... break free. Its probably the same thing.
