The dubbing is! Long story short there's only something like 6-7 historical channels in French TV and the rest are or used to be cable or sattelite channels and are mostly crappy or poor. Thing is that it's one of those channels who bought Scrubs and that's why the French dub is so cheap/crappy.

True, but i would hate to see Jeux d'enfants or Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain with English dubbing (or Dutch (my language) for that matter). It 'destroys' the authentic spirit of the movie. Subs are always better in my opinion.

i completely agree with vlassakj, subs are so much better, i love foreign films and i only watch them in their native language, with subtitles, it keeps the authenticity and just makes the experience so much better, as well as having the correct voices with nothing changed, as well as having room for annotation in the case of idioms and things that only native speakers would get.

I'm french and I can tell you that except JD that isn't badly translated, well it's a slaugther... Some people are talking about the german voices, but well I heard it too it's maybe even more crappy... Probably because I can't speak very well german. Anyway, whaterver they do, the english version is always better. If it disturbs you like it does for me then just watch the series with subtitles in english and you'll enjoy it much more ^^

Coming from an Spanish-speaking country and having viewed a zillion translated movies and sitcoms, I can assure you, it's quite coincidental. The translators voice never resembles the original actor, except for the guy who translates will smith in the fresh prince.
