  • watched on 2011 macbook pro.

  • u liked to stay behind in time didnt you

  • can you sinc your iPhone to it?

  • @DarthOptimus207 Can you spell sync?

  • @nickbouwhuis nope

  • It is still beatiful, both the case and internals. Software is very simple and fast, compared to bloatware Windows of today. I wish to buy one, but these Macs are really hard to find in Russia, and I don't want to mess with international mail.

  • in my opinion, apple only makes hacker-ware

  • Watched on a 2008 Macbook Pro.

  • Wow this made me realize how much I take for granted in a modern computer like spell check, no floppy disks, portability, speed, ect.

  • watched on macbook end 2010 model......

  • @nana101ify lol, my cousin bought it for 1,499 i think. If ur telling the truth, he got scammed. lol!

  • Hey guys, i was wondering, What modern chips fit into the old 128k? I am considering finding one and gutting it and redoing everything on the indide. I know that seems horrible that I destroy what was once a great computer, but I am wondering if anyone could help with this. Also, please don't het me here, i just was thinking about doing this.

  • I've got a Macintosh SD FDHD, completely original with one of those old Miniscribe 8425SA SCSI full-height 20MB hard drives. It works well, but damn, would I want a 128k... ain't nothing like the original.

  • Great video. Most people don't show you anything that the computer can do in similar videos.

  • seriously a floppy disk >_<

  • 7 IBM's wish they were a Mac

147 Macs, and Windows hate IBM's

  • Great video,

  • @nana101ify you got lucky. 128k macs sold really badly.

  • This guy talks really weird.

  • I would like to have one. It's very interesting

  • The first computer I ever used was a friend's Mac 128 that had 4 megabytes of RAM and a 10 megabyte external hard drive. I know that doesn't seem possible. But he was an electronics professional who had modified the computer.

  • @abobeck

    cool

  • You have a loud external floppy drive

  • I'm a sucker for vintage computers.

  • Fuck me, I hope you know how much one of these are worth today. Especially in it's origional box!!!

  • I have Mac OS X Lion

  • macosx91 did you actually use this computer 2002-2003? I was originally assuming you used it just as a hobby or something but you were actually using it for your everyday computing needs?

  • if my itouch was slow running this os,imagine what this '80s piece of crap could do

  • How much was it at the garage sale?

    cool video btw

  • @coolcatevan9 U idiot. People would pay thousands of dollars to get their hands on one of this.

  • watched on a 2003 imac G4 17"

  • what type of floppy disks did you use?

  • Comment removed

  • no chick was ever on that bed.

  • you are a pc, im a mac, but you use an old mac

  • holy hell it's still freaking fast for a 128k ram computer!!! I LOVE APPLE!

  • this seems to run faster than some modern computers lol

  • Man...I wish my computer booted that fast

  • @sanarkhos Even in 1984 Apple still owns.

  • That is cool. I would to have one.

  • thats funny "Hello Peoples of the world" at the beginning!

  • u sound gay

  • @intel7337 He sounds like Nevel Papperman from iCarly. No offense to the user.

  • awesome!!

  • I wonder...hw did it cost?

  • i have an ipod touch , a mac mini with magic mouse and a wireless keyboard

  • damn, that things loaded!

  • Awes...

  • that starts up pretty fast

  • I wish my 128 upgraded to 512ke status didn't have some previous jerk owner's drivers license number melted into the front bezel over the crt display. If not for that it would be just about as minty looking as this one.

  • i'm always gonna be with microsoft but i might use a mac for work.

  • @Lifty4ever my Grandma still uses a Macintosh for writing work.

  • it looks like a color screen despite the fact that the mac 128k specs on the internet say its b&w... what went wrong with yours?:P

  • cool

  • That thing is going to be worth a fortune, if it's not already. Nice find, I'm a PC guy but I can appreciate this kind of thing too :)

  • WOOW!!! It took less than 15 seconds to boot! Wish computer were that simple again >;D

  • @wayner8088 imagine a computer with an operating system that simple with modern hardware like a 3Ghz quad-core and 4GB RAM, boot rime will be less than half a second:P

  • @h4x0y Actually, just install Mac OS 1.0 on a solid state drive and you'll have instant-on >.o

  • @wayner8088 lol u had a classic II? thats even older! how great you shouldnt have sold it!! is an SSD actually that much faster? its not clear from all statistics... and do you happen to know if it was OS1.0 on the 128k?

  • what happened? it was this old thing, and now macpros? man, tech changed ALOT for just several years !

  • what size of the hard disk?

  • @Messerschmitt262a2a Floppy only.

  • Its so old.....

  • back when it was new, as far as hardware goes, it wasn't all that fast, the ibm pc with its intel chip was much faster. However, it was running extremely inefficeint MS-DOS, so ultimatly the mac was miles ahead, espercially with its gui.

  • @Imprezaman555 AHAHAHAHAHA

    what?

    you're seriously trying to say a 6Mhz 286 was better than an 8Mhz 68000?

    Fuck you.

  • My grandma has an old mac; I think its a macintosh too. She still uses it for writing work and VERY basic things. It sits next to a much more advanced Dell computer.

  • I just got an iBook G3 Clamshell on eBay

  • Cool. I haven't got a mac.

  • 10 years from now we're going to look back on the iPhone, Google, and Windows 7 and laugh at how simple they were.

  • I really like your setup...

What OS is your 128k running?

  • lol computers have came so far...... xD

  • I bet if they start selling these again with a better monitor or keyboard, it would reach the billions in hours xD

  • It wants it ..this... However, it has not sold it any longer.

It is a start sound lover.

  • When I was a little girl, the start-up noise used to creep me out.

  • @LikaLaruku Oh really, why? I always thought it was a very friendly beep. At least compared to the stuff the IBM PC was doing.

  • hahaaahaha.... i love mac XD

this is the coolest mac ever i seen in my life O.o

  • i got a microdoft flight simulator 1.0 from 1982 for macintosh in a 400k floppy disc if anyone requess it i will shjoe the paackage and the manual and all the stuff that it came with

  • I just bought one of these

    so excited to get it

  • Apple, hands down, has always made a great product! They were always light years ahead of the PC world. I too owned this same Mac (back when it came out). I loved Mac Paint! Take good care of it- it is still a great computer!

  • its still faster then vista, and it seems to me that apple had slot load right from the start

  • lol i wish i could take that thing to starbucks just as a joke

  • It start faster up than a modern sukkish windows pc

  • sad but true unfortunately

  • hello people's of the world...

    lol (it's funny...i think)

  • very cool 

  • my school has one with a cracked case somewhere in a storage room, i tried booting it up but it takes me to a white blank screen

  • You need to put in the 512k Floppy startup disk.

  • oh ok

  • Apple has been hitting it with its products from its starts, this is the first affordable home computer ever!

and if you drive an AMC Pacer, and use this machines as your main computers, let me say you have the best style i have ever seen in the last 10 years

  • how much was tha hole set?

  • Pretty sad that the personal computer GUI has not advanced much since 1984. Of course, it took Microsoft until 1995 to have a usable GUI in Win95.

  • ummmm, windows 3.1 (1992), or NT (1993), or windows 1.0/2.0 (1985/1987) and as for your comment on usable, they were in fact windows NT (which used the 3.1 interface until NT4) was the TOP OS for businesses at the time. Windows 2.0 was a shell wor MS-Dos which at the time was 72% of all computers.

  • Fuck new technology. It is all cheap Chinese-made shite that breaks within months. '80s machines, like this Macintosh, will last. Both of my vintage Macs (1989 and 1990) work better than my PC (2004). My Macs boot-up quickly and run quickly.

  • How Much do you want for it? ;-)

  • That is indeed a wel-preserved piece of Apple History. Kudos!

  • Those things were way ahead of their time...

  • Sounds like John Carmack..

    Awesome video!

  • i am a pc but i want to be a mac :) but when ever i get asked pc or mac ill link this video to them and say compare this to windows 1.0

  • even though im a pc, I still think that that was just awesome!

  • Dr evils mac

  • thats cool

  • Wow! Thats a piece of Apple history! Congratulations!

  • It kinda seems like the only thing Apple has changed about the GUI of the Mac desktop was the color and the dock. They also changed some of the stuff in the menu bar too.

Oh and BTW this is faster that my Windows PC, but not my Mac. Apple is the best.

  • Yea, you're right. The GUI Of the Mac has kept It's same basic look throughout the years minus a few changes like you said.

  • Yeah... I like how it looks=)

  • Me too. It's simple, clean, & easy to use.

  • where did you find an HD 20 startup disc? ive been looking all over for one of those

  • DUUUUUUUDEEEE You used this as your main computer in 02 -03?!

    Howd you do it?

  • ..pretty scary that you were using that in 2002..

  • Great video and great find! congrats!! Keep it! My first digital image was on a similar mac, back in 1988! Enjoy!

  • That's scarey... Look at the external drive!!!

I thought the Mac 128 had a built in 400k single sided 3.5 drive.

  • cool you still have it:)

  • apple Lisa is awesome!

so is Macintosh, there all as fast as any windows pc today.

  • man, it is just as fast as computers are today

  • how much is the macintosh 128k worth now days

  • allot

    loads

    allot

    haha

    Tom

  • i think the hard drive the comes with the classic might work there, it was 40 MB so you might just benefit it, because with hard disk 20 system file, the system, MacWrite, MacPaint and the maze game, there would be plenty of room for documents. it would take a long, LONG time to fill it all up

  • Hey macosx91, just a warning, I read that the Macintosh 128k (and other early models) didn't have fans, so if you run it for a while, it will damage the capacitors. So I wouldn't run you Macintosh too long.

  • My 5th grade teacher collected those- it was 1998. Hehe :) Fun stuff!

  • does this say "Macintosh 128k? on the back, or just "Macintosh"?

  • Most original macs just have Macintosh on the back, though there were rare ones that said Macintosh 128k on the back

  • wooow....old lol

  • i love that "PING" when it starts up. mac startup sounds have gone a long way

  • Comment removed

  • that computer is better than vista

  • It's definetly faster, more reliable, and more stable than vista lol

  • yep

  • oh wow cool! i love history! i am using a macbook currently and its so cool to look into the past!

  • i have 11, but i remember my uncle having one of these, he was a lawyer, i played lots of games(dont remember names, i was 3!!)

  • I have a Macbook pro, And im still jealous!!!!!!

  • @thetechroom LOL me too!!! I'm still kicking myself for selling off my Classic II, but alas it wasn't the 128K xD

  • how much is it?

  • quick boot up for a computer from 1984

  • Where I can download programs for an old MAC??

  • Nice video, thanks for sharing. I too have a few old Macs. The one I use for writing articles and to play games is an SE-30. Too cool. My next project is to get an old Apple printer to work with it. As an FYI my favorite vintage Mac game is Battle Chess by Interplay. The word processor I use is Word 5.0.

  • Boy-o-boy - I remember being in kindergarden and every one of my teachers had one of these that sat by their desks. They only let us use the Apple II computers..

  • That is so cool. I am so jealous!

  • 128k of ram!?!?!?!? DAMN! that's tiny!

  • lol by our standards 128k is small, but based on what they did it was pretty huge. i have a 320 GB storage(used to be like 180 GB) and 1 GB of RAM lol and my dad used to have like 80 GB hard drive(he has a powerbook and i have a macbook) so pretty soon they're gonna be like... 320?! DAMN! thats tiny! they'll have like 20 YB(yottabytes) which is bigger than terrabytes! lol so my rant is over lol sorry

  • Yeah um there's a lot between terrabytes and yottabytes. So it goes terabyte, then petabyte (the pentagon is said to have to use petabytes), then exabyte, then zettabyte, and then yottabyte. But its amazing to think of the future though. Memory used to measured in Megabytes and stuff. But now its in gigabytes and terrabytes. But back in the day, before we had iTunes and all this other stuff, 5 gigs on your computer would be more than enough! I couldn't even fit all my iTunes on that!

  • lol but we'll probably be there anyway by then lol

  • true!

  • it could open jpegs, wow

  • It's not JPEGs it's PICT

  • Good stuff, man.

I wish I could find a vintage Mac like that.

eBay isn't as helpful as you'd think. ._.

  • yea i know. I couldn't find one either. :(

  • Hey Macintosh is now 25 years old as of today.

I have 2 of them serial numbers 2336 and 5132 on the logic boards both still working.

  • Nice!

    And I use Ubuntu!

  • Does the 128K have a hard drive? Thanks.

  • It doesn't, Railfan2103. The operating system has to load off of the floppy disk he put in the drive below the screen.

  • Ok, thank you very much!

  • You're welcome.

  • but you could get a external hard drive...

  • Comment removed

  • lmao nice one!

  • Nice!

All i can find on eBay is 512ks...oh well, the 512k is just the 128's sister model and still could be considered the first mac model...

  • Apparently, eBay considers searching for "Mac 128k" different from "Macintosh 128k".

  • i need help plzz fast wich macintash is better Vintage Macintosh Classic or Vintage Apple Macintosh 512K or Vintage Macintosh SE plzz i need to no before i buy it help

  • If the mac 512k has all the stuff buy it,its the oldest.

  • were can i buy the floppy disc like the games and paint and stuff plzz there isent none on ebay plzzz help

  • Do you know where I could find one of those? I'd love to get one.

  • You might be able to find one on ebay. Also check around at garage sales, that's where I found mine. You might also find them at thrift shops. However I think ebay would be your best bet.

  • i got hypercard for my macintosh se fdhd! =)

  • very good video i got all information i needed

  • cool

  • Thats is sweet!

  • Windows is crap Macs rule

  • Wrong. You meant "PCs is crap Macs rule"?

    Note the difference.

  • But the new Intel macs are just PCs with teh awesome OSX on them :P

  • No, Macs were always Unix based built on RISC processors and still are RISC based. PC's are CISC bases processors are basically dumb shits until you put something on the hard drive.

Intel engineers simply went back into RISC processor development to enhance the Mac series.

So in essence, you don't know what you are talking about.

  • Windows is installed on PCs, you can install Windows on a Mac.

  • ya macs ftw

  • scratch that,it does NOT come with a boot disk.

  • SWEET!do you NEED a boot disk? I am getting a macintosh SE FDHD and it does come with a boot disk.

  • Why do you guys want this?

It's so old, and you can't use any of the modern programmes on it.

    ??

  • Because old computers are AWESOME!! And, contrary to popular belief, old computers CAN do almost everything a newer one can, with older versions of today's programs.

  • I totally agree with this. I have many (too many actually) old macs that do the same stuff my MacBook can do.
