It's possible with SSD. I had a 4200 overclocked that lasted 3 years. It died yesterday. But got replaced with a bulldozer and pisses on my old computer hahaha this bad boy I got some good runs out of it. Pushed it pretty far. This why I love and over intel. Amd can run so fucking hot overclocked and handle it.

This is a measure of hard disk speed, fragmentation status and how many applications are loading into your computer on startup....

I have a 64GB SSD and it laods about the same as that, but I just think that this guy has a new copy of windows on a Raptor hard drive and not that many applications, any dual core can start win XP fast....

He didn't load up the boot!. Try login your computer than lock the computer, wait till the hard drive stops loading than log in again. Everything should be loaded within 1 or 2 sec. So, his computer took longer so it must sucks!

I'm guessing that you had just logged off, or just brought the computer out of sleep mode, either way the information was cached and ready to boot. I do this on my AMD64 3500+ all the time, boots right up out of sleep mode or after I switch users.

well... i don't think the cpu has much to say about the startup speed. i have an intel celeron that sux, and 2 gb ram an my coputer starts faster. and i have alot of autostart programs too.

It's the hard drive speed that plays mostly into effect when dealing with startup times. Good hard drives especially ones that are 10,000rpm or higher will cut down the start up time by a lot. I've seen a startup demo with one of those SATA II 15,000rpm hard drives vs, a regualr SATA II 7,200rpm hard drive using the same pc and SATA II 15,000rpm hard drive smoked the regular SATA II 7,200rpm hard drive in startup time.

Yeah the Athlons and Phenoms maybe slower then Intel's latest Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad series, but you can't beat the prices on the AMD Dual Core processors. For anyone on a budget AMD is most def the way to go.

XP is perfectly happy with 1GB, but adding more never hurts. Also if you have a dual core but basic hard drive, well that defeats the purpose of faster startup times, because everything is waiting on your hard drive since it's the slowest out of all the hard ware parts. If you can afford a 10,000rpm or even 15,000rpm Hard Drive get it. You will see a nice diff in performance startup times of programs.

He is right. AMD quads will run much faster than Intel's. Intel's quads are just two dual cores connected by a front-side bus, which is slow as hell. But AMDs will be on one die, making the processor run MUCH MUCH better and faster. Intel's CPUs are just made too cheaply! They rushed their quad out the door, while AMD stood behind and worked to perfect their quad (AMDs also run cooler and cost less than Intel).
