I have found Virgin to be a very good airline too. Have used their 747s/ A340s and always had good flights. The A340 is a superb aircraft, albeit less fuel efficient than the 777 & A330. Good to see Virgin are now flying the A330 on the Manchester-Orlando route.
@Riechode ???? a340-600 is a very successful airliner..... there have been a good order of these on airbuses books and they are still being delivered to date. and it is the most understated plane in the business. why airbus needed to create the a380 is beyond me.... I have on good information from a virgin atlantic employee that virgin have cancelled their order of 6 a380-800's and decided on 7 787's and two more new generation a340-600's all for the same price as 6 a380-800's!
Omg! EVERYONE who isn't English or doesn't come from England calls it: heathrow international airport. For the millionth time, it is called London Heathrow Airport! Or lhr or egll! There is no f"'king international!
I love Virgin Atlantic I must admit I am planing my next holiday with Virgin because I have trevelled with them before and I have no complaints. We went to Orlando for our holiday which was brilliant the best holiday ever! Our next holiday we are planning is to go to Miami we have never been there and I just want to relax on a beach for 2 weeks.
@smartdon007 Well that is 19 of hardship and concentration on my dream (:
Umm well i dont know yet but i would want to control this aircraft but i dont really care as long as i got long ranged aircraft then im fine with it.. (:
is it just me or can you hear the autopilot disconnect sound at 0:14 =S and this vid was taken in the cabin...how'd that happen lol? Captain's PA still on? Although the AP wouldn't be disconnected at that height normally...
@beavertown2006 The staff were extremely rude and lazy.Virgin is the only airline i have flown that, after being in the air for 2 hours they told us ALL not to buzz for anything because all the cabin staff were taking a break! That takes some beleiveing, however,i can assure you it's true! We flew London to Las Vegas
@ni1074 Think very seriously before you book the flights with Virgin. If you are flying to USA seriously think about flying with a US carrier, you may incur a transfer to get to your destination, however,it will be worth it,firstly in comfort and secondly in the money you will save! I might add that when we complained NOBODY at Virgin were the least bit interested.
@Thurstonsfunfair fuck u. US carriers suck like hell. There staff are rude lazy and have no sense of style. There fleets are so bad cause they have overhead tv on there long haul fleet while british carriers do.
virgin kicks ass.. Very typical weather conditions as far as London is concerned. I cant ever remember a flight to heathrow without cloud covers during the landing (or taking off for that matter). It really makes a great visual and gives you goose bumps (the good kind of course)
No the A380-800 engines are Engine Alliance GP7270's, Trent 970/B, and Trent 972/B. The A380-800F has GP7277, and Trent 977/B. The A340-600 has Trent 556/560
The Engines are both RR but the ones on the A380 are the Trent 1000 the ones on this aircraft are the Trent 500 basically the 1000s are bigger and quieter.
BTW a couple of days ago I flew back from HK with Qantas, and that flight arrived on time at 13.30 in the afternoon. It took off at about 7.00 in the morning HK time. The flight originally started out in Melbourne.
I thought that as well. Looks a bit heavy, and a definite bounce in the landing. Two lots of vibration as the main touched down, and a third vibration when the nose wheel touches down.
Glad to read all of your comments of praise towards virgin. I will be flying with them from Heathrow to Newark in October. It will be the first time I have flown with them so I am hoping for a good flight.
