i have a problem when i hit my forehand. im quite confortable with most of my shot but when i hit the fh (the number one you describe in the video) the racquet movement ends at the same positiion you show -as most pros do it- however i just can not join my hand with the racquet. is this final movement important or that joint hand racquet at the end of the swing is just a reflex??
My conclusion.. if you play just once a week and start playing tennis when you are 12 or 13.. or later age.. then go for wiper swing.. it is not that difficult to get and you can get the shot inside the court and you can have fun.. but if I have student 4-8 then I would like to develop them with "Drive" and see how goes when they reach high school.. driving the ball is as tough as becoming serve and vollyer.. but it is very much worth doing it...i like Sharapova Swing, Agassi, Kimiko date,
I believe you have to pick style when you are little and stick with it... well, it is really depend on how coaches approaches.. well, Spain produces so many great players .. i believe due to nation is played on clay court... therefore top spin and food work is must must have it.. it takes lots of confusion for coaches and players.. all you got to do is imitate Nadal .... just like Nadal idolized Moya he was little... Nadal did not imitate Agassi's swing...
Another confusion about teaching tennis.. I have taught 10 years plus tennis.. and i taught many kinds... well, from my finding.. there is NO Evolution theory exist.. A lot of coaches do believe that follow throw will lead to Spanish swing after few years and this is not the case.. for example.. Mr. Lansdorp's student, learned "Drive the ball" for years and they never became Nadal's type of swing..on the other hand watch nadal 12 years old.. he hits very close to today's stroke..
A lot of people have many confusion about lower finish. It is very complicated until find the solution.. Wiper swing is so natural and best way to spin the tennis ball... It is very unnatural way to finish high.. swing path has to be like rainbow in order to hit nice spin.. that is we call "modern swing" well, i don't call this is modern swing because many of Spanish player used long ago like Moya. I call modern game as
hit 100mph shot with SPIN.. this is due to racket head speed and technology
I teach kids all the finishes and they are crushing the forehands...I do not teach nadal's buggy whip where the arm goes way behind the body...I do teach a modified version of it and it works beautifully.
Hello again. I believe it is a great tip for starter player to finish high. To me. wiper swing is very complicated... Del potro wiper and Nadal wiper is very different. You can see this fact after they contact the ball. I can see del potro's racket face after he contact but nadal or federer all I see is racket frame. this indicate Del potro hit flatter not completely flat though. Okay my question is should be teach kid nadal style? Yes and no. if nadal grew up in US he may not be no.1 today.

it's hard to see his hand movement when the camera is focused on the instructor's upper body.

@TennisCoachTV Buggy?! At least be specific and mention buggy for people trying to imitate it. Show some respect for Nadal's talent.
