  • BOOM...you got er bro

  • Great work!

  • sweet guitar

  • You got a lot of Seoul! hahaha

  • Real cool man!

  • You're in chinatown? SF?

  • thisi is open A not G

  • you don't know about tabs ( just read that)

but you know about tunings? hmmm

  • Tab?...please

  • how is your guitar tuned

  • Good job on this tune. I wondered if you play gigs or just do this in your spare time while pursuing other things. If gigs...under what name. I'd be curious to see 3 years later.

  • very nice playing. i think, this is the best cover on the tube. i heard them all, but this one is much more autentic than the rest. would be greatfull, if you could give us a lesson :-)

  • you swingin man. props. just tryin to pick this up myself. keep it up.

  • nice take on a R.L. classic

  • are you plugged in here? what's the distortion i hear?

  • Awesome!!

  • NICE! I felt it

  • Keep on playin' Chinese guy! Funny, I didn't know RLB was so international now.

  • good stuff bro

  • Regal RD 40?

  • man just being able to not sound like a total square playing this is an accomplishment. good work

  • nice

  • this version has the most burnside similarities in my opinion

which is a good thing. thanks chinatown..

wheres the better one as promised??

  • does anyone know where i could get the tabs at?

  • Maneiro!

    ^^

  • Open G

  • what tunning is that?

  • What tuning?

  • Yep, actually I think I met them once in Nashville, but it was a long ass time ago.. there's a guy I met in Mississippi named Malcolm something who is a big rl guy too...

  • sounds like an open A

  • @architeuthis1000 his name is Lightning Malcolm. ;) the best in modern hill country these days....look up the Two man Wrecking crew. the guitar player is malcolm, the drummer is cedric burnside, RL's grandson.

  • Nice, Arch'. Very nice job. Have you heard of Hillstomp? They are inspired by RL.

  • @AlphaTrag ,

Hillstomp sucks ! They disgrace RL Burnside !!!!

  • baller!

  • I listened to the whole thing! First time ever.

  • @mraktrak

    aww, thanks man, appreciate it

  • Wow, you did this by ear? Great!

  • Yeah, this is great stuff!

  • Love the sound of that guitar..... Is it amplified at all? That sound really suits the R.L. lick. Nice groove... Hope you're still practising it regularly. I've been tinkering with that riff for three years now... I don't think I'll ever tire of it.

  • is it possible to have the tabs please,I love this song...

  • I actually have no idea how tabs work, i just do this by ear and trial and error... sorry i can't be more helpful!

  • Is it possible to have the tab please i love that song...

  • You said that you did a how-to video, but I can't find it. Thanks!

  • Great version.

  • I like your version of this song, interesting there are so many versions RL did himself....good grove...

  • yeah, i really love his slowed-down electric version. excellent stuff, wish he was still around...

  • i viewed and listened to your cover several months back and found my way back to it tonight. i don't play but i love r.l. blues. help them guys out who keep asking for assitance. keep this real music out there. great job!!! los angeles.

  • how do you strum that? can you show the right hand technique?

  • What's that little door for...not John Malovich's head, I hope?

  • that's my little room, where I go to escape the beatings my abusive great aunt gives me..

  • at least you're not keeping hobbits or kinky dwarfs against their will.....

  • Awesome dude!!!

  • that was a damn good cover bro, what kinda guitar are you rockin there? i think i saw that kind at a pawn shop one time

  • it says "Royal" on the head, but that's all i know. I love it, though, it's much louder than a normal guitar, which I like...

  • mad respect son

  • fuckin A man I love RL you just as good if not better . Keep er rockin.

  • good shot at it...GOOD FOR YOU

  • did you find tabs for this or just do it by ear? I usually only play lead stuff but I'm trying to learn more about chords and plucking style rather than picking so i figured r.l. burnside would be a good place to start....so yeah, if you found tabs leme know

  • Wow! I am truly impressed!! Great job

  • Don't BS me...you sound great...I had to get up and dance

  • haha, thanks!

  • yeah, use the thumb knuckle for the percussive part! (super secret trick!)

  • I can play this but i cnt get the strumming right, any tips?

  • This is very good. You got an excellent rythm goin.

  • brilliant..

  • gotta love all the negative comments about playing the blues - -

    everyone got their own blues,

    everyone plays their own blues,

    everyone sings their own blues

    everyone expresses their blues

    DIFFERENTLY

just shut up and play the blues.

  • LOL....guess i was splitting hairs...but i just cant stand cockiness...anyone can play a fiddle...whatever...

  • this is sick!!!!

  • great voice

  • Hey man, you are good, and you can sing too. Get out there and play.

  • im not saying ur tuning is correct either...but as u play it....its def not open G

  • huh? so what tuning is this then?

  • Trust me dude, it's in open g. R.L. tuned down a few steps when he did it, but it's a g shape to start. You should learn a little delta slap my friend, other than that great video. (I'm a young guy who plays delta blues too)

  • correct. thanks man

  • nice cover dood...you played it just like RL...well almost...not bad for a rich lil NYC brat...lol...yea i know who u are...but anyways.. one thing u did fail to mention...you arent in true open G dood...not sure if u know but...open G is DGDDBD....anyone with an ear can hear that open A (open 5th string folks) you popped off at the start...so for you who cant hear it properly...the tuning is dAdgbd...otherwise you have to shift a piece of this riff up a whole step ....dont mislead people dood

  • dude, not dood....who the hell does this guy think he is?

great job on the song man! sounds good the way it is..the blues aren't about being absolutely perfect...keep playing!

  • Seriously! It's the best RL-playin I've seen in a long time! You kinda have to put out a tutorial where you go through it all. I'm dyin to find out how to play that tune!

  • dude can u show me how to play this i mean make a video on how to play it please.

  • VERY good man, talent much..=] im still working on that, i wish stevie ray vaughan played this way. after all thats my name too =) and im growin up playin RL w00t

  • thats good, i wish i knew how to play that one. care to help me?

  • great ramblin groove u got going on. nice work..post more

  • Sounds great, I love R.L. stuff.

  • you got it!!!! Better than 10+ stars!

Damn, wonder what your sound would be playing more? *Stands up and Bows to the 'puter screen

  • Nice! Good job, man.

  • what tunning is it

  • open g!

  • greaqt great great

    love r. l. burnside

    and play him very

    low down good

    wish i was in nyc

    to form a little band

but Im in the promised land

    Blues On!

  • outstanding.

  • wow great play!! your sing is nice too. I hope you ll release a slower version soon

  • i want to do an electric version with drums like the one on Too Bad Jim, but I don't know any drummers! Anyone out there in NYC play drums??

  • super awesome cover

I watched it ten times cause I was sure it was overdubbed or something now I'm gonna watch it ten more times just to enjoy.

    Keep'm coming

  • You do this great ! I love this song !

  • haaaaaaaaaaaaaaard!!! this shit is POPPIN dood!! subscribed!!!

  • I've been looking for tab and trying to figure this out since I got the Black Snake Moan sound track...really like your version and look forward to the slower post with instruction...us hackers really need your help!

  • i did another video how-to -- take a look

  • Are you making the percussive chucks with your thumb or with your fingernails? I've been trying to play this on the same kind of guitar, but I can't get the chucks right with a thumbpick.

  • thumb, man! use the fleshy part

  • wow I like your version just as much as Burnside:) Sounds like youve played it a long time. Smooth and nice. Singing is great too. Nice to see some serious playing in open G...:) I know I expressed my admiration before, but this sounds great!

  • good!

shoulda wore a black shirt, woulda looked meaner

  • haha, you're right!

  • EXCELLENT RENDITION! I've been trying to learn how to play this one for as long time. You really did justice! THANKS!

  • lemme know if you want to know what i'm doing here

  • My head is spinning because you must have read my mind. I was about to draft a message to you asking for you to do a slow instructional on what's happening here. If you could do that, I'd be eternally grateful man. I really want to learn how to play this song and I can't learn it just by watching. I'm half Norwegian. :)

  • i'll post a slower, closer vid and talk it through.... when i actually get some time, that is!

  • I'm sure your time is valuable, and I really look forward to when you're able to post the instructions. By the way, your vocals really sound good on it. You asked us to excuse the awful singing, but the singing is good, just a bit lower than Burnside did it.

  • cool...great playing

  • What tuning? open G?

  • yeah, you got it

  • wow that was great...!

  • nice....

  • great chops dude. i didn't know you could play those guitars that way...i thought the strings were like half an inch off the neck or something?

  • Naw, this one's hung like a normal guitar. difference is i'm playing it with my first thumb knuckle rather than the tip of the thumb..

    thanks for the comment tho!

  • I just went from you to rl three times. don't strum and the thumb goes back and forth like a flatpick.

  • not strumming, hard to see on youtube. the second thumbing is just to mute - it's percussive.

  • had to sleep and work, certainly enjoy discussing the esoteric fine points of rl. ps if you know "just like a woman" put it up so I can steal it.

  • listen carefully your missing an uptick there. just play the bass part nothing else
