@ctyankfan7. Thanks for the lead on the aliases. I am working on it. Sam Spence has a website. I sent him an email asking about this subject, and I'm hoping to hear back. If I don't hear from him, I will try contacting NFL films directly.
I've become aware through another site that Martha Jane Weber and Beverly Hermann were actually pseudonyms or aliases for William Soden. In other words, Weber and Hermann are fictional names. I believe the source is credible, and evidently this does occur frequently in the music library industry. Actually, doesn't surprise me that much since you can't find anything on a web search for Weber or Hermann. If I find out anything worth adding to this, I'll post it here.
@ctyankfan7 That would be a huge development. I also have spent a lot of time look for other stuff by Weber and Herrman and have wondered why I could never find anything.
@darienventure Just another quick comment to add here. Evidently, there was a composer named Weber from the New York area who contributed some of these scores, but it was a guy. So, Bill Soden and ?? Weber were the people who composed the music and the names of Beverly Hermann and Martha Jane Weber were used as aliases.
@mojoidol Apologies. I don't know how that happened. Didn't even realize it until you pointed it out. Please sub in this photo at the 4:15 mark (where the song's style fits his running style). There are a few good covers of him.
@cheeseballpictures That's a very good point, and I agree. Note, however, that the song is question definitely was recorded long before Beat It came out. So if there was any copying, it would be the other way around. I suppose we should get the Thriller Album out and see what composers are listed.
Hi there..I would like to order a copy of the song from 3:54 to 4:22 and the song from 4:49 to 5:17..any advice on where I can find these songs and what their names are and who the authoir of each song is? Thank you.
@courtrocks07 See my post two below yours (as well as several other comments here). Beverly Hermann did Disco Theme and Martha Jane Weber did Forward Thrust. You would have to obtain one of the albums off the NFL Music Library to get them evidently.
@courtrocks07 Try contacting Darienventure's handle that you'll see throughout this thread. Probably your best bet. You probably need to purchase the entire album.
@Muddyrich I've been checking out youtube clips of NFL highlights shows in the '70's for a while, and several songs here should have made Autumn Thunder. Here Comes Da Heat at :35 and Disco Theme at 3:55 should have been no-brainers. Charge to Victory at 2:56 and Forward Thrust at 4:49 next. Ghetto at 5:18, the song at 6:46, and Man With a Mission at 9:28 would wrap up my nominations. KPM music also left out, and several that I haven't been able to identify on the clips, perhaps by Spence.
@Colfax11000 That's "Heavy Action" by Johnny Pearson. It's not an NFL Films song. It's from the British library, KPM. ABC grabbed it back in the '70s for Monday Night Football.
@darienventure Hi darienventure: I would like to order a copy of the song from 3:54 to 4:22 and the song from 4:49 to 5:17..any advice on where I can find these songs and what their names are and who the author of each song is? Thank you. I believe the names of these two sonfs are "Disco Theme" by Beverly Hermann and "Forward Thrust" by Martha Jane Weber. Do you know where I can get these two songs? I would be very grateful for any help you could provide. Thank you.
Great tunes, thanks for the post. I just uploaded one of my own, "Old NFL Films 4-song" do you know the names of these 4 songs or are they on your NFL LP albums? By the way, did you ever list them on ebay. Thanks a ton!!!
After listening to dozens of youtube clips of old weekly highlight shows, special NFL Films programs and other NFL music compilations, I would say that the song at :35, Disco Theme at 3:52, and Forward Thrust at 4:49 are probably the most notable omissions from the Autumn Thunder collection. From memory alone growing up in the seventies, these seemed to get consistent play on the highlight shows of the mid to late seventies.
@TheMOONSHADE7 Starting at 7:14 you have The Lonely Ride (Martha Jane Weber). Starting at 7:42 is Moving Vistas (Beverly Herrman). Both songs were re-released on the Autumn Thunder monster collection that came out a few years back.

There's a kind of lullaby ballad song that plays in the background in the last moments of "NFL's Best Ever: Running Backs" - the one narrated by John Facenda in 1980. I've no clue as to the song's title, composer or its availability.
ALSO Seeking - The two background music themes in Super Bowl IV - one for the Kansas City Chiefs, the other for the Minnestota Vikings.
The song you're hearing at 5:30 is called "Ghetto". Composer is Tony Luisi. It's off the the NFL Films Music Library record #100. I don't believe it's available anywhere online. I've been transferring songs from records to mp3. I've got about a dozen of these records I intend to list on ebay.
I didn't want to bring up a question not related to this video, but you seem to have a lot of NFL Music Library at your disposal. Do you know the following song --- it's played for example at the beginning of the youtube clip This Week in Pro Football 1972, week 9, part 3; or same year, week 10, beginning of part 5. The song was a staple of the highlight shows of the early-mid '70's. Surprised it didn't make the Autumn Thunder set. Thanks for your help.
@BrianHogan95 . They both by Martha Jane Weber of NFL Music Library record #109. The first song is titled "Bold Venture". The second is "Forward Thrust".
Too bad if that's the case. I'm not sure how many astute followers of NFL Films might even be aware of the fact that many, and perhaps most, of the missing "classics" are not even by Sam Spence. Lots of good ones here --- I was whistling the two that begin just before the four minute and six minute marks all day.
The song starting just before the 4-minute mark is called "Disco Theme". It's clearly a copy of the pop song "Turn The Beat Around" by Vickie Sue Robinson. A lot of the NFL songs are like that, including Sam Spence's Santa Anna Wind (Santana Anna = Santana).
@darienventure This is a great NFL music library... What's the name of the song at 6:47? It's brings back good memories of the NFL on CBS in the 70's...

Thanks for posting this. I just received the Autumn Thunder set for my birthday. I had listened to the track samples on the Barnes and Noble site, and read the reviews on Amazon, etc. before I gave the go ahead to my wife to purchase. I understand now several of the comments on Amazon that mention many popular songs are missing from Autumn Thunder. I quickly recognized about six on this post alone. I wonder if the fact that they're not Spence compositions has something to do with it.

player had a great game. Does anyone know the title
