I thought, early start, long hours, looks like hard work, not sure about this...but then I saw the support truck with kegs & I was instantly converted : D
yeah, one dude said he was slow, then something about falling and back to running. i think they need to work on their routine.
they had a really strong accent. kind of reminded me of myself when i'm drunk - roll all my Rs and no one can figure out what the heck i'm talking about :)
Think about carrying a huge luggage on your back and someone sitting on that luggage singing......but im sure its entertaining for people that are watching haha but not for me....
It is too bad we dont have traditions such as that here in the West; perhaps if we did the communities would be closer and people would get along better.
it cause Japan had thousands of years to build culture while America(if thats where you live like me) has only been around around 200 years so naturally we have few festivals like july 4. Unless you celebrate your culture's festivals which aren't celebrated nationwide
yeah. Most guys were in their late teens and early twenties. To ride on the top you have to be 18 or 19. Once you're older than that, apparently, you are down below pushing, pulling or playing music.
Goes on from early in the morning until the evening. One group stopped their shrine at the house next to where I was staying. At about 9am they were having snacks and beers! At night time they had all clearly had a lot! Great times :)
Great video, Kevin! It looks like you had a wonderful time out in the countryside.-Kurt :-)

I dig matsuri.
I love how everyone from 4 year old kids to 90 year old dudes do it.
Sense of community spirit that is rare in the western world.

I have no idea either. In my limited Japanese....all I know was it had something to do with sports day....(maybe not the part I showed)
