@rcav89 The Timmy is hardly "ultra expensive" IMO. In all honesty, it's the one pedal I probably couldn't live without and one of the best bargains in all of the "boutique" pedal market. Plus, Paul is a REALLY nice guy.
But, to your point, the M9 IS a rather serviceable all-in-one option. Thanks for the comment. :)
The tone is super close, but the Timmy sounds more alive.....and I watched it first with my eyes closed and a second to see what was what. To most people, they're the same. To guitarists, the Timmys just got a tad bit more to it.
I love my M13, but it takes a ton of tweeking to get good dirt out! A ton! Too much tweeking for the dirt, but the delay, modulation and reverbs are worth it for sure.
Agreed, on all accounts. To my ears, this sounded much closer in person... not perfect, but yeah -- damn close. A bit more EQ'ing and I'm sure you could get it spot on.
what were the M9 settings here? i've not messed with the drives on my M9 at all, as i only got it for delay/mods. but this vid and the ernie vid are making me wonder....
Seems like the M9 needs a bit more low end for this clip. Of course, there is the cam mic and YouTube compression to consider (because it sounded pretty close, live).... but it's close at least. Maybe just a bit more tweaking. :D

for me, the m9 sounds amazing and i dont see the point buying ultra expensive boutique pedal.

@joshie4330 Absolutely! I've found that while the M9 can get you close, it won't quite replicate everything perfectly.

Sounds like the Timmy has slightly more gain and a bit more of a mid-hump.
The M9 just keeps on amazing me though, that sounds damn close.
