Hi - Could I do the same with a non Ultranova MIDI synth i.e. record the MIDI, quantise the MIDI, render to audio and then move onto the next overdub all without stopping the Ableton record sequence? Alternatively, what if you play freeform and just record the audio straight cutting out the MIDI record step. Is Ableton' audio groove quantise good enough to sort out my dodgy playing?
@Konnekta I have the same question... In fact, now i have the same setup, but can't figure out how to play the Ultranova in midi in Live 8, have it read the synth's patches, all this with a simple usb cable. Help.
I like this video; best of all worlds. Although I'm very happy with my APC40 the Launchpad is still on my wishlist because of its way more open standards (more easily programmable using, for example, Max for Live). And the UltraNova... Right up there as well; very cool device. USB powered; IMO a synth which was almost /made/ for DAW extending.
@gmid24 Shouldn't be a problem; at best you can use it as both sound source and midi input (Reason/Record) but it will always be usable as a midi controller.
could you make an ultranova and ableton live tutorial!

To do this, please go to Live > Preferences > Record/Warp/Launch > and untick 'Arm' next to 'Exclusive.
You will now be able to assign the Record Arm function to multiple tracks.

pcs are fine, get an external audio interface for lowest latency or use asio4all which helps lower latency.

probably a mac will work best.. though you also can use a pc of course, I have both but the mac is the better solution.. as usual ;-)

Havent used either - but I am pretty satisfied with my APC-40 and MPK-49 with some Absynth or Massive.
