This Referee, I have watched him adjudicate games before. Joe Marler should not have been given a red card that decision was absolutely ridiculous. Look at the early part of the video and you will see Marler was nigglingly annoying Ayerza. Then when a ruck is formed Marler comes in from the side and not the back foot, another act of provocation.
However a head butt has to be punished, so red card both was definitely the right decision!

Ref got the end decision wrong. First offence Head butt penalty Harlequins. Second offence Retaliation Quins. Penalty should have reversed for Leicester. Both red is fair.

Honestly? A Red for Marler? Why? Can understand for Ayerza but a couple of punches from Marler hardly worth a yellow in my opinion. And I'm not even a Quins fan.

Rubbish! The ref was telling them to cut it out when they were grappling in the ruck, which Marler had joined from the side, and then choked Ayerza with his scrum cap. Ayerza then headbutts him. Red card. Marler even looks at the ref, who has clearly seen the incident, and still punches him 3 times! Foolish. Red card.
Ref should have stopped it sooner. But both players were out of order.

I know that retaliation is deemed as bad as the initial strike but in this case I think Marler has been hard done by, surely this is just self defence? Headbutted twice and a red card for reacting to it?? Barnes lost control of this game
