Good God is is Tommy Davidson a no talent. The Zappa brothers are way too interesting and filled with talent and charisma for this 4th rate black nothing to get it.
The stereotypical "black humor" a lot of entertainment companies confine black comedians to. It often perpetuates stereotypes about black people. The kind of humor that's been beaten into our brains as "black" since the end of the 60s through blaxplotation that says we (black people) have to have our movies/comedy segregated and that they have to meet a certain "black" standard created by white people as part of a stereotype about us.
Would the stereotype of "black humour" not predate the blaxploitation era, tamika? I seem to remember there always being an element of it, even in old Hollywood with the clumsy "porter" or the nosy "mammy". Heaven forbid we find the homour in our similarities. The chaos and anarchy that that could lead to is unfathomable.
Yeah, the entire black face premis is where it came from. Again it's letting what someone else thinks of us (which was often romantic and segregation serving) define us.
EVERYONE is nosy. EVERYONE is clumsy- it is not a "black" thing- less false barriers, please.
A good example of this stereotype phenomenon in action is the white producers telling Robert Townsend to "act more black" during a scene in the comedy "The Hollywood Shuffle". Another example is someone walking in and saying, "I can't believe you watch that white s***" when I'm watching something "non-black" like Louis CK or this very video.

Who's Tommy Davidson, I'm not from here.

Stephen Hawking would make a better bowler than Tommy Davidson makes a talk show host. Stick to physics and comedy.

That interviewer is way out of his depth.
So ask him about his name over and over again for five minutes then do some lame race stuff.
This is so embarassing. This guy obviously knows nothing about the Zappas.
The only thing entertaining was Ahmed's madness.

"black" humor is a false barrier.

Don't get mw wrong, I completely agree with the rest of your statement, I just questioned it's inception being the early 70's.
Hollywood made things comfortable for the great unwashed masses from the beginning. Instead of educating us, they played to our ignorance.

Exactly.
I was just saying for the generations in recent memory the cues were from the 70s.
